Good, small, very nice and accommodating staff, good cappuccino. It's a very comfortable place with no pretense.

There no big flashy sign anywhere to tell you "Here we are!" So try not to miss this one. We walked…read morein around 10:15am and I was concerned we may be too late to get a good selection bc I've read plenty of reviews saying they sell out daily and to get there early. It's a small shop by a gas station. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and they were ready to take our order before we were ready to give it. I asked about a couple of the varieties in the display counter and those answers helped me make my selections. We ended up with 6 different varieties. A maple cream stick, donut stick, apple fritter, raspberry jelly filled, a buckeye donut (for my hubby) and a chocolate espresso donut (for me). The price was quite reasonable and the people working were very friendly. I also ended up getting a bag of coffee beans after talking with our server and getting her recommendations. She even gave me a sample of one of them they had brewed. We paid for our items and headed out. Several people came while we were there. In fact our friends missed getting to try the espresso donut because someone's that jumped in between us bought the last of them. After trying it when we got to our car I can see why! DELICIOUS!! Would go back for it alone. My husband didn't even wait until we got to the car to try his Buckeye donut and he loved it. Their apple fritter was better than one I bought earlier that morning from a bakery. I didn't think the raspberry jelly filled had nearly enough filling. It easily needed tripled. I say that as someone who worked for three years in a bakery and filled donuts. All in all this was a great stop and if we're in the area again we would definitely drop by to see what's being served.

Not even sure where to begin. I walk in at 7:15am--fifteen minutes after opening--and there's one…read moreother customer in the entire place. The two employees can't even be bothered to acknowledge me. No greeting, no eye contact, nothing. The donut selection was a joke--about 90% of the shelves were empty, and not because they were busy. It took nearly five minutes for someone to finally say anything to me. When I politely said I needed a dozen, the employee grabbed a box and just stood there staring off into space like I didn't exist. After another couple minutes of that, I had to ask if he was ready. His response? A lazy, half-interested "yeah." If zero stars were an option, this place would earn it easily. If those were the owners, that's even worse--because this was an absolute failure of a customer experience. And to top it off, I tried to leave this review on Google, but reviews are turned off--which tells you everything you need to know. There's only one reason businesses do that. I won't be back, and I'll make sure others don't waste their time or money here either. I'm done spending money at places that clearly have no concept of basic service. This was just flat-out pathetic.

When we pulled into the parking lot, it was clear everyone else had the same idea--place was buzzing with holiday energy. Since we were already there (and since homemade comfort food had been calling my name all morning), we figured we'd sit down for lunch first. Because of the holiday rush, the regular menu wasn't available, so the buffet was the only dine-in option. Honestly? No complaints here. We were seated in the main dining room, close to the buffet--dangerously convenient. There are three buffet stations: the big salad bar in the middle and the hot lines on either side. The salad bar was simple but fresh, with finely chopped lettuce, plenty of dressings, and all the toppings you could want. But let's talk about the hot line because this is where Der Dutchman shines. Fried chicken that's crispy, juicy, and everything comfort food should be. Chicken and noodles that tasted like something grandma would make on a cold day. Honey ham and shredded roast beef that were both tender and flavorful. And of course--the true Midwest essentials--mashed potatoes, stuffing, and green beans. The kind of plate that warms you up before you even take a bite. The buffet is all-you-care-to-eat, and trust me, I cared to eat plenty. My wife and I both kept it simple with water and lemon, and our waitress didn't miss a beat--friendly, efficient, and on top of everything even with the crowd. We left full, happy, and ready to tackle the next mission: pie pickup. And naturally, you can't walk through the Der Dutchman bakery without something extra catching your eye, so a box of donuts came home with us too. Zero regrets. If you're craving true comfort food or want a little taste of Amish-style cooking, Der Dutchman is always worth the trip--holiday rush and all.
