Not to mention that the chain falls off during changing of gears....which never happened before. This is my Toronto bike shop. They are great. I wanted a Surly Cross Check and they sold me one. They didn't have one but they got one. I spec'd the parts myself and they built me the Toronto bike of my dream. I REALLY wanted fat tires because Tornoto streets are all bombed out and I was getting sick of slamming into potholes with skinny high pressure road tyres. FFF Fattys Fit Fine on a Surly. I came here recently on the recommendation of a friend. Right on Danforth, you can park on side streets (free) or pay the meter. Regardless, parking seems to be plentiful (always a bonus!). Deciding to be healthy again, I took in my 10 + year old bike in to get a tune-up before I started riding it. I expected the tune-up to be costly so I was ready to buy a new bike; however, tune-up for the old thing was very reasonable. As soon as I walked in, a store representative came up to me to ask if I needed help. He then left and I was standing alone ... another person came up to me within minutes asking if I had been helped. The staff here are extremely knowledgeable, which is nice ... especially for n00b like myself. I'll be back. A solid four star. read more

A young staff member was extremely rude to me and many other customers who were queueing up outside the store (as per covid regulations). I called the manager about this, who then claimed that I and other customers were the ones who were being rude. None of the staff are wearing masks and they have no idea of what social distancing means. I had to ask the salesperson to move back and witnessed several other employees crowding customers. I bought a tire tube for my kid's bike (which I bought at this store). Upon inflating it for the first time, it burst at 45psi, right along a seam. I called the store and the service person immediately told me it was my own fault, and that they would only replace it if the break was along a seam. I brought the tube back in, and they refused to replace it, even after seeing that the split was along the seam saying "you made a mistake". The only mistake I made was choosing this store. I have bought all of my kids' bikes here and was even considering getting a new bike here, but since we are not allowed in, and the 90's-era website doesn't even have pricing, much less online purchasing, I think I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Paid 200 backs to get my bike destroyed!!! about a month ago I took my bike in for an overhaul mainly because of my bottom bracket making noises and my wheels were out of true. About a week later I went to pick it up because supposedly the service was "finished" Which was definitely not the case. After walking for 15 minutes and paying around 230$ they hand me my bike which still had dirt on it. I ride out about half a block and notice that it's still making noise. I get off and look at the bike and the only thing they did was slap some grease on the head tube. So, frustrated I went back to the store and told them my problem. So they took it back in and said they will check it out again and to come back around 8pm. So I walked back AGAIN to the shop to bike it up and the bike seemed to be better.... It was far worse then better. After the first ride I already started having problems with my dropper post not working, gears not shifting and shifting by them self, And everything i went to originally get fixed was still there. I am truly disappointed and frustrated with this because I expected much better from here. Safe to say I will not be coming back. read more

Yeah me and Cyclepath go way back, to 2006 when I bought my first Trek, a hybrid, at the Dufferin/Bloor store. I always received great service from that location so when my other Trek - a mountain bike I picked up in Calgary - needed some lovin I figured Cyclepath Danforth would pick up where I left off with the old location many moons ago, before my reincarnation through time & space. Anywayz not gonna get heavy on you but suffice to say Cyclepath Danforth is the shit (doncha love the versatility of the word shit cuz I mean this in a love kinda way). Check it out check out: -Picked up Bike fully tuned premium package but couldn't find my missing seat at home so I was like, "can you give something cheap to hold me over till I locate my nice one"...Johnny on the spot puts together a discount seat and pole for like $25 while I clear up the bill. How about masseuse?) -The nice manager girl also flagged my bike when I called in paranoid that my lost wallet and Cyclepath ticket might turn up at the store by the crook who robbed me earlier in the week. I went here looking for a bike trailer for my daughter. I understand this might not be the sexiest thing to look for at a bike shop - it's no dura-ace derailleur - but hey, cyclists grow up and have families and want to share the joy of riding with their young kids! Having visited this store's website I saw that they had quite the selection of trailers so off we went. We walked in (husband and baby were with me) and were greeted by a young man. I asked about bike trailers, he brought us to the section and then he proceeded to show zero interest in the products. Perhaps he's never used one, perhaps he doesn't know the difference between the models of trailers but there are two options here: admit that you know nothing and open up the Chariot booklet and try to answer our questions or go find a staff member who knows something. He did neither - he did however give us the booklet to peruse and then quickly left us. I guess we were just too boring for him. A second employee came along not shortly after and when we started asking questions about the models he also didn't really know much. We said we were sure we wanted to drop $1,000 on a trailer so he pointed us to the only non-Chariot trailer saying "they're all pretty much the same but this one's the cheapest we carry." Ok. So your $400 trailer is the same as the $1000 Chariots? What? We thanked him for his time and said "we'll think about it" turned around and left the store while trying not to laugh at how terrible the service was. read more

Bought a bike here after sourcing out 4 other bike shops where the bikes were more expensive. But when I tested out a couple of bikes, riding up and down the sidewalk (you can actually take the bike around a long block but I didn't want to be testing it out on the road but concentrating on how it felt) and decided on my dream bike (well dream for the price). But if you haven't ridden a bike for a long time like me (when I learned to drive I no longer needed a bike), then be prepared to drop a wad on the bike and all the fixings - helmet, lock, bell, etc. But Cyclepath has everything you could possibly want or need! I think though that they should include the kickstand in the price of a bike. For $10, it's actually a kind gesture when your customer is spending hundereds of dollars in your store. I don't know from bikes, but they hooked me up. From what I can tell, they have a solid selection and good prices. The staff were very helpful - listened to what I thought I knew about bikes, pulled several off the racking for me to check out. We found 3 that were interesting, which he adjusted for my height and sent me off to ride around the block (after leaving a credit card to secure my return, unsurprisingly). I found the test rides really helpful in feeling the difference in ride and posture. Once we'd decided, he ran down the accessories, and was really upfront about options with no upsells. "The difference between this $50 helmet and this $150 helmet is weight. Are you concerned about head weight? No? $50 it is, pick a colour." They took my accessory purchases (fenders, rear rack, lights, kickstand, lock mount) and installed them all, as well as tightening up the cables and all while I had a pint down the street at Sarah's. 45 minutes later I had my bike to ride home, happy as a clam... with a bike. I dunno, cyclepath's a chain, maybe indie shops have more cred but it was a pretty excellent experience all around. 2 years free maintenance on the bike as well is a nice kicker. Pro-tip: ask nicely and they'll throw in the kickstand. Pro-tip: did I mention pints at Sarah's down the street? read more

The spacious size of Cyclepath on Danforth and Coxwell may make you feel like you're in the bike department of a Canadian Tire. Unlike Crappy Tire though, these guys are more knowledgeable about bicycles. From the moment I walked in, the folks here young and old took careful time to find the correct parts needed so I can fix my bike (which they offered to do, but I do my own repairs). The level of professionalism was great. It's way far away for me, but for a bike shop from what I have seen, it's quite decent and not populated by paid dolts standing around doing nothing. read more

Very Disappointed! I have purchased 4 very expensive bikes, gear, and clothing over the years to ride in numerous bike rallies. I have spent thousands in this store. The owners know me. 2 years ago I was brutally physically attacked. I did not work and had to sell my bicycle, motorcycle, and camera equipment to stay afloat. Missing my bike I purchased an old school, one speed bike at a yard sale. Wanting to jazz it up I painted it mat black and add white wall tires. Of course I purchased the new tires, tubes and seat at Cyclepath. I paid full price for the items and installation. When attempting to return a carrier to the store a young salesman asked why. I stated it doesn't fit my fender. He argued with me a said it most definitely would fit. He suggested I bring my bike to the store. I did and he realized it didn't fit. Instead of an apology he made a derogatory comment about the size of my fenders, and the age of my bike. Realizing how offensive he was, he said he will attach the carrier for me by bending in the fenders. I agreed. Given that it was close to closing he asked me to come back the next day to pick up my bike. The next morning I returned to the store to pick up my bike. Not only was I charged a maintenance fee for the installation, but I was asked by the owner if I could wait to cash out because she wanted to cash out a gentleman in a 3 piece suit who was walking around still picking out items for the 2 bicycles he was purchasing. It was clear that she wanted to give every minute to this customer until he cashed out completely, knowing I was not currently employed. I was not working but I was actually on my way to physiotherapy. I was deeply offended and disappointed that after years of purchases and loyalty to this store, this is how I was treated. I felt pushed to the side. I am back at work now as a massage therapist and I have found a new store to support. I will never walk into Cyclepath again. read more

I needed to tune up my bike and decided to come here because of the good reviews. The employee I met was helpful and honest. He clearly explained the difference between a Pit Stop Tune up and a Deluxe Tune and answered some service lingo I was not aware of. He suggested that I take the Pit Stop Tune up and I am glad he did not try to up sell. My bike was serviced within 2 days and it is a totally different bike. I have been going to Cyclepath for many years now. I recently needed a new bike seat. Given the high demand for everything related to bikes, they had nothing in stock when I first went in but they had some on order. I left my number and then returned a couple weeks later. I tried a seat but it wasn't a good fit. Some time later they called and I tried another seat. Although I bought the seat, it wasn't right for me and I returned it. A couple weeks later, they called and had another seat in. This one is just right! I've been riding with it for over a month and it is great. The staff were very helpful every time and I had no trouble getting through when I called. Each time required that they attach the seat to my bike and they were very nice about it. I would highly recommend this store. read more

Advice: find another bike shop that doesn't have a owner with horrible customer service and could never admit to her mistakes or being wrong! My Story: I realized a single spoke broke and a week later I got a flat tire. Fixed my tire with a new tube I had already and a couple days later went to Cyclepath on the Danforth to get that spoke fixed. Tire was fine and full when I dropped it off. Dropped my bike off and was told to come back 1 hour and a half later. While I was waiting I got a call saying my tire was look tired and I needed a new one. I took their call on it as I hadn't replaced it in a while. When I went back, to pay for my bike I added 2 tubes (for back up). I was charged for three broken spokes (even though one was broken... but okay again I'll take their call on it), the tire, their services and THREE tubes. Because the owner was so chatty on my way out, my mistake, I didn't recheck my bill. However, when I finally looked at my bill, and realized I got charged for an extra tube I went back a couple days later and holy hell, worst customer service ever. Christina, the owner, immediately started yelling at me saying there's no way to prove it... she gave me my money back but it was "out of good faith and will NEVER do it again" as she yells.... actually you can prove it 3 ways. Here's how: 1) Check your service notes, no flat tire guaranteed if they make proper documentations of their work. 2) Also check the DIFFERENT tube that's in my bike!!! That's how to prove it. It's different than yours because the one I had at home wasn't from your shop! (If she wanted, she could take the whole tire off and read the slightly different tube sizes, plus the nozzle is slightly different AND came with a different coloured cap). 3) Even IF you replaced my tube, your service team would have damaged it as it was fully functional and working when I dropped it off. I had a single broken spoke --no flat. All in all, YOU overcharged me and yelled at ME for your mistake! She didn't even take a second to consider that fact and pushed all the blame on me. And yelled at me immediately! First, you don't EVER speak to customers that way. I came in nicely and calmly pointed out YOUR mistake and you yell at me? Yes I should have checked my bill before leaving BUT I wouldn't have needed to come back if I wasn't charged for something I didn't get. My problem isn't that I got mistakenly charged for an extra tube but for the horrendous customer service from the OWNER when trying to resolve it! Well they were my closest bike shop but now I'll just go to the other 2 down the street which I pass on my way home anyways. So much for a friendly neighbourhood bike shop. They lost my business and my friends and family members! Steering them all away. read more

Spare yourself a Headache & find another Bike Shop! Took my bike there for repair to have a wheel trued, work not done correctly, many of the spokes were left so loose they were literally flapping in the wind & I could tighten them with my bare fingers, also found the hole for mounting the rear rack had been stripped & the rack was also flapping in the wind. Took the bike back to the store, waited to speak to the owner who told me that spokes left this loose in perfectly "normal" & I should "Do my own research" and that their tech overtightening & stripping the hole for mounting the rear rack was somehow my fault. I was absolutely shocked & appalled that a business owner would be so rude, condescending, accusing & obnoxious, with anyone, especially a long-term (15 year) customer who has bought 6 bikes there. I did the research, could not find a single source confirming that spokes should be left extremely loose, every wheel trueing guide from any source states that there should be at least some tension on all spokes so obviously I was being lied to. I will be trying a few other bike shops closer to home where I can walk instead of driving my car & putting up with the parking hassles on Danforth. Cyclepath not only doesn't seem to know what they're doing in bicycle repair, the Owner/Manager obviously doesn't have the first clue regarding Customer Service, Public Relations, basic politeness & manners, it's truly a wonder how they've stayed in business this long. read more

Just as I was ready for my first ride of the season on Sunday, I found I'd put my TREK hybrid (commuter) bike away wet last year. The chain was a solid rusted mess. Called Cyclepath Danforth to see if I could get it replaced. They told me to come in. The store was busy but Christine (owner) took a look, to see if the chain could be salvaged, it couldn't. She also recommended changing the rear gears as the new chain might slip. The bike was ready in less than an hour, the price was as quoted. The ride and shifting gears is so smooth now. I bought this bike from Carlos 15 years ago. It has taken me all across Toronto, on roads, trails, and paths. When I wanted a new bike, I went back to Carlos. He sold me what I wanted/needed, and not the most expensive bike in the line. I've have tune ups and repairs done on both my bikes - and my nephews bikes: wheels trued, disc brakes replaced, seats replaced, wheels replaced, tubes replaced. I've always been satisfied with the service - and there have been times when I needed the repair ASAP - and together we were able to work it out. I wish I'd seen the so-so reviews before I took my bike in for a spring tune-up. Can't help but conclude these folks are out to lunch. I took my bike in on a Wednesday, and they called that Friday to tell me what needed to be done. I gave them the go-ahead, and they said it would be done by Sunday. I went in on the Sunday to pick it up, and they said it wasn't finished. No subsequent call to tell me the work had been done. I went in about three weeks later, and the work still hadn't been done. I ended up just taking the bike back, and I won't deal with them again. I'd recommend going to another bike shop that's more on the ball. I'm not even sure if the work they recommended was necessary or just a money grab. read more

Pretty poor service overall. I took two bikes in for spring service and selected the "deluxe" tuneup. It took a full week and when I picked them up, one of them was in terrible shape - soft tires, seat wasn't on straight and one of the wheels was clicking and rubbing quite loudly. If anyone at the shop had taken it for a 5 minute test ride they should have noticed this. I will say the store was reasonably well stocked re: locks, lights, fenders but the service is really lacking. read more

My bike chain broke so I brought my bike to The Cyclepath (Danforth location). They told me I needed this that and the other thing plus labour. They up saled me but good. Total price $250. I pick up my bike a couple days later and it rides like you know what. I bring it back and tell them that it rides even worse than before. They say they will fix it. I tell them that I will not invest another cent into the bike. Some history: Bike was purchased at a different location for close to $700 (Giant Rapid) Here is where it gets bizarre. Employee calls me and tells me that I need another part however this was never mentioned to me initially. I said I am not investing anymore money and that this should all have been diagnosed with the initial diagnostic assessment. Owner (Christina), I don't believe she is, calls and says I should take the back bike, get a refund and they will put back the old parts. funny thing is, the bike rides better now than it did before and after fixing it. place is very unprofessional; never once apologized or empathized with the situation. they never took ownership for their mistakes and I don't think Christina can spell customer service going to Benjamin's bike shop on donlands and o'connor. read more

I stopped in a few weeks ago to pick up a bleed kit for my Avid brakes. The bike tech was helpful and pointed out TWO types of bleed kits in stock, and his honest replies made it apparent that I was fine to go ahead and purchase the cheaper of the two options given how frequently I was likely to use it. When asked if he had any tips on changing out brake pads, he simply suggested I watch some YouTube videos as the job could be a bit tricky. This was such a nice response to get after having just come from nearby Cycle Solutions where the bike tech there suggested that I simply take my bike in to their shop for them to do. I'm a woman and appreciate that the Cyclepath tech did not automatically assume that bike maintenance would be way too hard for me to attempt. I recognize that this is a male-dominated sport, and I am thankful to have found a bike shop that is friendly and encouraging of women in the sport. I will certainly be back! And... Their service was non existent, their quote wrong, and the timing of work incomplete. The worst part of the whole experience was that they just didn't care. Great place to grab a a tube, tires, stuff like that. They have lots of parts on the wall. The service is always friendly. I've been going there for years, but have never had my bike repaired there. Ok, so I'm having slippage on my chain, I replace the chain with a new one, still slipping. It was suggested by a friend that it could be a crank that's the problem, I'm not even sure if I want to go into everything. Long story. I was sold a crank and a rear derailleur cable. I was told the cable to change would cost 6.99, so I agreed to have it changed. They didn't tell me it was 15 dollars to install it. 80 dollar crank. 140 bucks. Fixed.. Ride down the road. Nope. bring it back. They check it. It needs a new front derailleur. huh? Ok, do it. 30 bucks, I think. It's back. Ride down the road. Nope. Bring it back. So, I'm in for a crank, a front derailleur, a cable. 170 bucks. Fml. The owner is there. Looks at it. Well, you need a new cassette and a new chain. A new chain. One that's been on two weeks. Just fix it so when I ride out of here I don't have any problems. 80 bucks, doesn't charge for labour. Cool, nice of him. I'm in 250 dollars. Ride home. Nope. I take it to another shop. I'm told that it could be an adjustment, nothing more, but it could be the rear derailleur; let's check first. I say forget it. Change the rear derailleur, I may as well have a completely new drive-train. He tries to talk me out if it. No, just replace it. They let me know that the front derailleur isn't installed properly. Yep. They install the derailleur and adjust my entire drive-train; it works like new...cuz it is new. They then explain that the first thing you do is adjust the rear derailleur set screws, and the cables. Then replace the cassette and chain, then derailleurs, then the crank. So, instead of making adjustments, I was sold a crank, a cable, a front derailleur( that was installed improperly), a cassette, and a chain that was replaced two weeks prior. I chose to change the rear derailleur elsewhere. I left a bunch out. Nice, friendly staff, but I'd never go in there again. read more

Called ahead to see what tire they'd recommend for my bike. They suggested one. Researched them. Great reviews. Cycled over. After looking at the tire and specs bought their recommended tires and paid to have them installed. Expensive but what the heck. I was willing to pay the $150. I get a call an hour later. They DIDN'T FIT! Tried to sell me a cheaper, poorly rated tire for the same price. At this point I had no trust and impatient to get out. Told them to put the old ones back on. But they wanted $31 for the installation. WHAT? Don't be unreasonable the clerk shrilled, almost screaming. So Ok, Chalk it up. Pay and get out. When I came home I spent the next 1 1/2 hours adjusting the breaks and tire rub. 4 hours wasted, NO new tires, and a nice Bill. NOT recommending the cycle path on Danforth. read more

Terrible service. They said it would be ready in 2 days, but it was 5 days. Only then to discover they put the wrong parts on my bike. Had to return 3 times and they still didn't get it right. When they called me and said my bike was ready, when I got there it wasn't. It took 2.5 weeks total. I seriously advise you to go anywhere else. I recently decided to buy a new bike after riding my old one for 30 years.and chose to go to Cyclepath as it is in my hood. While the sales guy let me test drive a couple of bikes, he seemed exasperated when I didn't like either one. He finally showed me a Garneau that I liked and purchased for around $500. On my.very first ride I got a flat at Harbourfront and had to walk the bike all the way home. When I brought the bike back to Cyclepath the same sales guy basically told me 'tough luck'. He didn't offer to give me a break on the replacement inner tube or labour cost and was pretty dismissive. I wa so ticked off, that I brought the bike to Velotique for repair. I won't be doing business with Cyclepath again - i don't need to put up with pissy attitude when there are dozens of other bike shops in TO. read more

BEWARE THEIR "FREE" TUNE-UPS When you buy a bike here, they'll tell you it comes with free tune-ups for 2 years. So I brought bike in after a few months, thinking tune-up would be free. When it came time to pick up, they charged almost $20 for new brake pads. The guy at the counter said it was on the work order, which I had never been shown before. What happened was the person who took the bike in said it may need new pads but that the repair dept would assess it and CALL first if parts/repairs were needed. Never heard from them, and at no time was I ASKED whether I wanted new pads on both front and rear when I dropped it off. But since they had already thrown out the old pads, I had to pay for these new ones. Still seems like a decent store for bike shopping. But if you really want a tune-up here, make sure you CHECK what is being written down about your bike, maybe take a picture of it, and if you don't want extra parts put on, explicitly say so. Personally, I'd rather pay for tune-up elsewhere from now on, at least then I'll know the true cost up front instead of being surprised later. read more

Took my bike in to Cyclepath for repair. Opted for Deluxe package $80. Two days later the very same breakdown happened. Took bike back. Cyclepath couldn't diagnose the problem...the one they supposedly fixed. They suggested the tire might be the cause. I guess checking tires isn't included in the "Deluxe" package. service and selection are top of the line. prices are not ok. everything is marked up. like show me one other bike shop in the city that charges $9/tube?? the price of service is steep too. not an indictment on the work they do but you're better off buying parts elsewhere. read more
