Most of the other bike shops I stepped foot in managed to mansplain me right back out the door. Laurel was patient and helpful as I tried on literally every pair of pants (men and women) in the showroom. The crew there was also super gracious in helping me with some basic questions about my new bike. Love my new riding pants and gloves. Really looking forward to coming back to take a basic maintenance class, learn more about fixing my bike up myself, and meeting more riders.

Dunn Lewis isn't just a great store for gear and motorcycle supplies--it's a hub of the DC moto…read morescene. It's also a great place to learn more about your machine, make repairs, and customize. Gear selection is limited to make finding what you want easy. The shop is very spacious to keep the space feeling more like a hangout than a warehouse for merchandise. A lot of the brands are not distributed by any other brick and mortar shop in the area (Saint comes to mind), and all are high quality and stuff you would actually buy. There is also a selection of supplies, which is targeted for members if the motorcycle club. They stock 15-50 boxer oil which is hard to find to support the boxer owners that are members. This evolving support is part of what makes membership valuable. Which brings us to membership. Half of the space is a members only garage which is available by signing up for one of a few membership tiers. Dues vary with access: higher tiers cost more and give you more time to make use if the garage space, use the wide assortment of shop tools, and in a few cases give access to specialized machinery. Classes that are made available to the public are offered to members at a discounted rate. It's common for 2-3 different projects being worked on, and collaboration is natural. The DC moto scene is small but welcoming, and Dunn Lewis is definitely a good place to connect. They offer events and rides that are available for anyone, and it would be hard not to get involved with DC moto clubs like dirt church if you hang around the shop. Mason and Laurel who run the shop are always available for tips on what's happening around the city and are a huge part of what make DLMC worth supporting. There's also great food and bars on the same block. Worth mentioning. As far as what could be better: it's a new space and features are growing. So if it doesn't have everything you need, you might have to wait for them to bring it in. But you only need to make the suggestion and it's something you'll probably see in the future. All moto and scooter riders are welcome. More than worth a look.

When I spoke with their service department, they agreed to take care of it for me.. no apology or anything about the extra time out of my week to get to and from their shop. I should have bailed right then and there. Fast forward a few years. Nothing but issues for a bike I took excellent care of and only put a grand total of 1000 miles on. I won't get into too many details here, but they kept the bike for a little over 3 months this last spring, " trying" to resolve an issue I was having with the bike struggling to start and not running correctly when it did start. After three months I complained to the owner about the absurd bill I got after his team of " professional Triumph techs" could not figure out anything and just started throwing random parts at it. To be clear, there were 3 error codes... After 90 days they didn't even mention any of those codes! The owner did right by me in terms of having them remove most of the fees they tacked on for their bull$!#@ work. It was super irritating that I was still out a couple hundred bucks for an intake snorkel (What the actual F?) and spark plugs (which I had also just replaced one day before leaving it with them) The real final coffin nail for me was that the final call from the service guy was unacceptable and infuriating: "Given enough time, we probably could figure it out, but we just don't have time to deal with your bike right now". I have never been more angry or disappointed by a business. I essentially just threw 10K+ into a fire. I will never purchase a bike here again and I will instruct everyone I encounter to avoid them for bike purchases and especially repairs.
