I had a great time getting my hair cut today! My stylist (Biz) was very comfortable working with my thick, curly hair and was so sweet about it. The space was comfortable and relaxed and I appreciate their sensitivity about strong smell and loud noises. My haircut came out fantastic! She managed to combine the simple layers that work with a more modern shape I was looking for. I booked an extra long appointment and I am glad I did, so we had plenty of time to work things out. The price was also the most reasonable I have seen in a long. I had been quoted prices 2-3 times higher for the same services. read more

I have visited Bee at THE CUTTING ROOM twice now, once for a shag type cut and again to add vivid colors .. Bee is super talented and she offered her valuable opinions and advice based on her experience and training while providing excellent results for my new look! I felt comfortable and welcomed here instantly from the first "hello" upon entering. Bee kept a few strands of my hair after my initial cut to run a test lift to see how my hair would respond to various chemical treatments and which colors would hold the best with the least amount of overall damage. Bee is super professional while also providing a fun environment and interaction while doing my services. Plus, the over all results are what we all hope for....I LOVE my cut and color! I had a really amazing experience with Jasmine today! I have struggled to find a good cut around Denver as I live in a more rural area outside central CO and our salon options are pretty limited. She really took the time to listen to me describe what I was looking for, what has worked and not, and what was realistic for my hair type. Having wavy/curly hair every single person has their own opinion on how best to style or cut and I appreciate that she met me where I was at. She went above and beyond for a new client cut. I've had experiences at other salons in Denver charging double the price without nearly as much attention to detail. And don't get me wrong, her styling and skills are worth it but I really appreciate not being charged 160.00 for a 'new client cut' that's under an hour. My hair looked so much better on the way out vs the way in! And I've had 200 dollar "curly cuts" and 40 dollar cheap trims over the years. Aside from the technical cut aspect I really enjoyed talking to her and learning about her community minded attitude. I can tell she is someone who cares about working for an organization that is welcoming and value based. Salon itself was clean, not crowded, art deco chic fun, and wasn't so done up that it felt intimidating. Stepping outside after my cut I saw families and a fair amount of people walking around and meeting up in the plaza which is always a good sign it's a safe area. Seems like a great spot. I will definitely be coming back for my next cut and bang trim. read more

I just had Hind add some color (lowlights and toner, I guess) to my old lady white hair, and I really like it! She did a wonderful job. I was a bit nervous/hesitant, since I had gone to a lot of trouble to go 'natural' years ago because I was so sick of the upkeep required to cover roots. But turns out 'natural', wasn't really working for me. I didn't get pretty silvery gray....I just had white hair, and I got tired of looking even older than I actually am. (or at least what other people in their later 50s look like) So, I explained what I hoped to get, and she delivered! Hopefully the upkeep is really only a few times a year...We shall see. I saw Serena and have the best haircut I have ever received, I walked away, loving every bit of my hair. I definitely felt like the salon would address any concerns I had, and overall had a wonderful experience. I love the atmosphere of this salon, and all of the women were incredibly kind and welcoming. For context, I have hair that can be a little difficult. If I'm more than four days out from my wash day -my hair is pretty straight, when it's wet it's wavy, and when it dries-some of it will go into ringlets-- and on top of all that it's on the thicker side. All to say, my hair is not easy to work with which has always been the reason I have given for not liking most of the haircuts that I receive, but like I said, I absolutely love everything about my hair now. Finding the right stylist has been a process of trial and error, but I'm thrilled to say that I have finally found my forever stylist! Kelsey not only met my expectations but exceeded them. She listened carefully to what I wanted, explained the steps, and made my vision a reality. I am extremely happy to have sat in her chair and walked out with exactly the look I had been hoping for. Such a huge fan of The Cutting Room!! I like to say that I'm chill and laidback about my hair, but that's a lie. So this review actually means something, I promise. I saw Hind (the owner) for a much-needed haircut and she did a perfect job! I have fine hair but a decent amount of it, and she did some serious magic via cutting to give me shape and volume in this dry climate. I also want to comment on how much I loved the space and the mission behind every aspect of the salon. First, art deco old Hollywood vibes are achieved with gorgeous gold accents, amazing wallpaper (designed by an independent artist! Look close for the bird when you're there...), stunning chairs, and artwork. It's so fun to be in a salon that is beautiful and intentionally designed. I also love that Hind created the salon with environmental and personal health protection in mind. The salon recycles nearly everything (yes, even hair!), uses water and energy saving shampoo bowls, and their products are free of all the gross stuff (parabens, etc; check out their website for accurate info/actual expertise). My absolute favorite part is that The Cutting Room is providing equitable services. Rates are just that; no tips (rates accurately reflect services without having to add extra) and not based on gender or hair texture. The salon is fully ADA accessible, from easy entry to the bathroom sink. Hind and the other stylists I interacted with were so kind and warm and fun and I'm so excited for my next visit.
