First off I'd like to say that the salon atmosphere is nice and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Here's the negative, I went in for a cut, I showed the stylist two photos (different styles) and she said it was basically the same cut. I was cutting about six inches off my hair, she shampooed, cut and curled my hair and it looked fine. A few days later I shampooed and tried to style my hair, the layers and bangs were uneven, I called and they got me back in so the stylist could fix the issues. She seemed a bit flustered but did she see some problems with the cut and she tried to fix it. The next day I washed my hair and it is still uneven. I am now at another salon hoping to get a someone that can fix the issues and give me a cut that I can feel confident in. read more

I walked in the Union Salon after the stylist I had scheduled an appointment ghosted me and after I went to Great clips asking for a blow dry and ran away after 2 minutes bc the lady had no idea how to do a blow dry- seriously!! Know how it feels after you've had a fantastic cut/style, you leave feeling like a million bucks--ready for going out on the town? Not how I felt here. Both times I left here, I put my hair back up into the stupid pandemic-clip. I tried trims from 2 stylists in 30 days and found 2 themes: 1) My cuts started late and ended on time for the next person 2) stylists rushed through, styled it, yet didn't collaborate through or at the end about how their cut was working for me. Seemed it worked fine for them so out you go!! Pros: easy location, pretty salon inside, very nice people. But after spend $140 in 30 days and 2 stylists who were given picture supports --Just no, I'm done, now I need to spend more money and time to find another place to fix my uncomfortable hair. Sigh Ps My husband assured me my hair doesn't look bad, it's just not what I was asking for. I think that with a bit of shaping after styling, and a bit of dialogue, it might have gotten closer. You guys, my hair was looking rough with covid and having a baby. I needed to find a new hairdresser/stylist. So I took a chance on Union Salon. I was paired with christa Johnston and Shannon. Not only can I not be any happier, but the same goes for my hair. My hair looks amazing and healthy! I love that they also tell me how to take care of it until my next visit. I cant believe i have the same hair cut i asked not to have. A mullet. After i just grew it out. again. plenty of pictures and descriptions of what i was wanting to work into for color, specifically said i did not want much if at all blond taken out and this is what im left with for mothers day weekend no phone call or message from the specific person who did this. I think this is poor customer service. If you dont have the ability to do what you say, dont wreck someones hair for your ego. Perfection wasn't anywhere near what the outcome was. The disconnect was between the people that work in the salon. I made clear and concise explanations with plenty of visual aid. I also explained that if something CLOSE to what i wanted could not be achieved by the stylist or any other stylist at the "salon", please say so. I was not asking for anything difficult at all. I know the way my hair behaves and the stylist disregarded my information. I have gone through 2 years of beauty school myself, im not an idiot and i know how to express myself especially when it come to hair. I was not clear on how to book a partial color service so told them when I arrived that I had noted in the appointment that she wanted partial color. They were able to accommodate us - I know this isn't always the case due to scheduling. They were really lovely and easy to work with. We were both pleased with the results. Thank goodness for Alyssa! She saved me from some embarrassing hair. I had a bad highlighting experience in February and my hair was this ugly color I didn't ask for. I made an appointment with Alyssa (who I haven't been to before) and she was witness to the embarrassing color. She helped me feel prettier again! It's the little things am I right?! My highlights were orange/yellow strange color and some was brown and some ended up being a shade of purple after trying to fix it with my purple shampoo. Anyways Alyssa walked me through what she thought after seeing it and asked me what I really was wanting and made the suggestions to fix and help heal my hair. She did a great job and I was very pleased. She put all of my hair in foils every single hair in order to make me feel better cause I was not happy with my current situation. She was awesome. If you need someone who can relate to you and actually do hair professionally then look ni further. Wish I could give 5 stars but honestly can't. I had a cut and color scheduled for my first visit to this salon. My color treatment was perfect and I am extremely happy with how it turned out. 5 stars for that part but my cut only gets 1 star. The stylist spent less than 5 minutes on the cut; no exaggeration. And this was after I told her it had been more than 3 mos since my last cut. A few snips in the back and she was done. I even told her she could take more off. She dried my hair, took off the cape and escorted me to the register to pay. I won't be going back because paying $50 for a haircut that didn't happen is maddening. The salon was very clean and the atmosphere was comfortable. Staff was friendly; even my stylist. Not sure why she rushed through the cut. Maybe her shift was over?! read more

I am extremely unsatisfied with my experience. I showed the stylist, Nicolette, pictures of myself with the ombré hair style I wanted to replicate. I showed how the roots were noticeably a much lighter brown (compared to my natural black hair) and ombre'ed into lighter brown/blonde. I also explained I did not have a good previous ombré experience because my roots were still black in the end. I made sure to emphasize numerous times that I wanted much lighter roots. When I picked out a color on the color palette for my roots, I chose from the 3 very similar colors she showed me (she gave me 3 options that were brown)- the one I picked was clearly brown. In the end, my roots look black with barely a tint of brown in certain bright lighting. I know for a fact that the color pallette sample was brown, not black with barely a brown tint. I already had an ombré from a few months ago so my initial reaction when she finished blow drying my hair was - it looks exactly the same as before... When I went home, I looked in the mirror and all I saw were black roots and a slightly cleaner bottom half ombré than before I walked into the salon. I called Nicolette and let her know I was unhappy with the top and she kept saying my roots look just like the color palette but I 100% disagree. She offered to add highlights for $85 more. I already spent $200 on having my hair damaged with chemicals to look the same as I did before... no thanks! I've never been to a salon where they do not offer to fix it to make the customer happy which is why I'm giving this whole experience a 1 Star. My friends and coworkers have also told me if they were unsatisfied with their experiences, the salon would offer to fix their hair to satisfy their customers. Unbelievable. I will not be referring this place to anyone. read more

Stormy is the best!! This was my first time at this salon and I will definitely be back. Before, my hair was super damaged and just nasty. I always put it in a bun because I was just tired of it. After, I came out with bouncy hair that didn't even need a color to become shiny! I am in love with it. This review is long overdue, as I've been coming to Union Salon for over a year now and I am a client of the amazingly talented, Christa. To start, I am an incredibly picky individual when it comes to my hair. I have had many, many colonists fail me and my blonde hair with terrible ombré jobs and poor highlights... so I came to Christa with a 6 month grown out ombré and in terrible need of a haircut. I did my research, and she was the gal to see about color. My first appointment was a haircut, which is the best I've had in 4-5 years! I have long, thick hair and she gave me a wonderful layered, cut that grew out beautifully and did not start looking witchy at the ends after 3-4 months. Fast forward after two beautiful hair cuts, and I've decided to take the plunge from basically a platinum blonde ombré to a beautiful copper red. Something I've wanted to do for about 3 years, but had not found a colorist I was confident enough could take me there. I booked my appointment, and in a few hours... I was a little apprehensive trying a new salon as many of us are very protective over our hair. Also I have a really light blonde color and it is definitely hard to find someone that knows how work with that. Working with Brianna for some time now, I can say that she is worth every dollar an brings an unmatched level of expertise and personality to the salon. I came to Brianna with several concerns about my hair, and through only a few iterations (and my evolving concerns about my hair), she has overcome my issues time and time again. To make the whole experience better, Brianna truly knows how to build relationships with her clients. A great memory, professionalism, and the skills to back it all up, I'd say I am a bit partial. I moved to Lakewood (from California) in October. I got my hair cut by Stormy at Union Salon in April. So let's be clear: I was waaaaay overdue for a haircut. I'd been snipping at my bangs and my normally chin-length bob was nearing my shoulders. But I was hesitant to trust anyone with my hair because I'd had the same hairdresser in SF for years. I went to Union Salon on the merits of the Yelp reviews. Let me be clear - as clear as I was with Stormy. I brought her the SAME pictures I brought to my hairdresser in SF. I told her I wasn't expecting to look like Cameron Diaz, because I don't have a stylist on hand every day. I wanted something easy. Something I would not have to put ANY WORK INTO. I told her I was willing to blowdry my hair and put a product in - texturizing cream or sea salt spray. That was it. Stormy told me to search Pinterest for Julianne Hough short hair. Julianne's cut angled away from the face. The pics I brought angled toward it. If I wanted that cut, I would have brought pictures of that cut. Stormy then proceeded to give me MEGA-BANGS. Like, bangs that did not blend at all into the rest of my hair. For the record, none of my pictures had bangs from hell - nor did the pictures of Julianne Hough. I get that Stormy had to correct my crappy bang trimmings from the last six months, but gah. Blend, woman. It looked like a bowl with bangs. I looked like my sixth grade teacher. I was clearly unhappy and Stormy tried to correct... by angling the cut away from my face. This was not what I wanted AT ALL. She curled my hair and told me it would just take a few minutes to curl daily. That's fine, I guess, if you're a person who wants to curl their hair daily. I'm not. That was incomprehensible to Stormy, because her mind seemed boggled that I had better things to do than my hair. She tried to regroup when I told her that daily curling wasn't *me*. She told me I was in shock that it was so short. I *was* in shock, but just that she had done a lot of things I did not want. This would be a two star review, because Stormy gave me half off the haircut and offered to redo it. That's important, and WOULD earn her another star. But I didn't want to go back. I didn't feel like she listened well enough to understand my needs & wants as a customer. I left disappointed and really hating my hair. I did try to curl it once and failed miserably - and wound up wearing it pulled back for the first two weeks after the cut. Not a good experience at all. read more

I had a gift certificate I won for a cut and full color. I was super nervous about it, because I'm really weary about who I let near my hair with scissors. My appointment was with Carl, and let me tell you, boy was I impressed! First off I LOVED my cut. He listened to everything I said, took what I said I liked, my hair type and my lifestyle into account and gave me an amazing simple layered cut. But I was super impressed with the color. I pride myself in doing color myself at home, and mixing up some really nice creations. When I went to see him I was sporting an ION 4IR (Medium Intense Red permanent) that I had mixed with Pravana Violet/Purple (also Permanent). Then after it had dried the next day I layer on ION Fuchsia (Demi-Perm). When I stopped into to see Carl I had about 3 inch roots, told him what I do to get my color, and he said he could match it. He was right! It was exactly like my hair color. He's a color genius! Parking was a little strange or getting into the lot was awkward. But I am thinking of leaving my currently salon, and maybe going to see Carl again! I really couldn't be happier with how it turned out! read more

I live up the street from this place, and instead of driving across town to the shop that my old hair stylist moved to, I decided to make an appointment here. My first impression of the salon was great, it is decorated well and the staff was so friendly. I saw Valyry for a hair cut, from medium length hair to a bob - and I am beyond impressed with my cut. She listened to everything I asked for, even listened to how I typically style my hair and took that into consideration for the cut. I can't tell you how many times a stylist ignored the fact that I like my hair flat and instead made it poofy and full of volume because that's what THEY like. Well, Valyry was fabulous, friendly, and I couldn't be happier. Morgan was absolutely amazing, and was able to color correct and lighten my extremely patchy, brassy, and dark hair. I feel so much better. She is incredibly talented and I'm so happy with my hair. I've been coming here for about four months now and it's the best styling experience I've ever had - from fixing a color disaster from a previous salon, to listening to what I want, to making suggestions and throwing out ideas to make the style I'm looking at fit me this is everything I could ask for in a salon. I highly recommend a consultation, because that is all it will take to convince you that you'll get what you want and need here. In addition I am finally getting a haircut I can actually maintain at home! I think I finally found my place! 9/10 haircuts you get, you look at yourself after they have finished, you look great...go home and look in your mirror and say "what was I thinking? This is awful!" Went in today, having never been in before. I was greeted immediately, offered a beverage and never had to sit down. Nicolette was my stylist and she did a great job. She asked me plenty of questions on how I style my hair (low maintenance working mom here), didn't chat too much (haircuts are a moment of quiet for me, I like it that way) and had me in and out in 35 minutes over my lunchtime. Perfect. I haven't styled myself yet, didn't do color, etc, so that's why I didn't go with a full 5 stars. Bonus? You can book appointments online. My hairstylist, of 7 years, just had unexpected back surgery and I couldn't wait for her to recover. I trusted Brianna with a new color and haircut, and I am completely happy that I did. I went for a cut and color in February and have been going regularly since. The salon is easy to get to from all directions, and only one mile off 6th. The salon is warm and inviting. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. The stylists are very genuine and friendly. They take their time on your hair, from start to finish.. I've never seen people waiting for their appointment while I'm still in the chair or been rushed through because of overbooking, both of which I find particularly unpleasant. I go to Christa Lee for my short and very blond hair. I've had my hair cut and colored by very talented stylists, but Christa Lee far extends in her level of talent. She goes beyond the 'simple trim and touch up', focusing on the long term health of your hair. Her precision & technique make her a true artisan. After years of bleaching and improper care, my hair was dry, over processed and badly damaged. I now see growth and my hair moves and feels like hair is supposed to. You can buy product here. My best results have been with Alfaparf, specifically the Midollo di Bamboo product line. read more

She is so knowledgeable not only about your hair, but, all the products they carry and truly believes in them. I always listen to her advice and honestly, my hair has never been this healthy before.
