DO NOT GO HERE!! My hair was extremely thick and long when I went to her. It's so insanely destroyed and choppy now. it looks so terrible and ruins my day to day confidence every single day. She made 24-26inch hair go to 2-12 inches it comes out as a brush it from how badly she damaged my hair. No help was given or an offer for extensions. A part of the mile high city experience, we wanted to try out an oxygen bar to reap in all the benefits of inhaling 92% O2 instead of the atmospheric 20ish%. Sunspa is a full on salon, with a small oxygen bar out front perfect for anyone waiting for their appointment to get a quick fix. For $1/min, they provide disposable nosehoses and recommend between 10-30min at a time. It has 4 seperate scents and can run 2 people at a time. We paid for 5x10, and took turns in shifts. Since the machine was running anyways for the 5th, they let one of us go again for free. Its easy to swap pipes (not nosehoses eww) so we can all try all the flavors. The scents are very light, and you can barely feel the air, but overall it was a relaxing environment. I didn't have a great experience here. But, honestly, I should have known better. I'm not sure why I do this to myself everytime. I know better than to expect a hair stylist to spend the time asking the right questions and understand what I'm looking for, when I book a lunchtime appointment. They are usually already running late from earlier appointments and trying to catch up to meet the afternoon ones. I know better. But, once again I did this to myself. I didn't get a great haircut. In fact, when the stylist was done, she didn't even do that thing where they hand you the mirror and they ask what you think. Nope, she just let me know she was finished. I was like, "um, ok, I guess I don't get to decide if I like it or not". I mean, I understand your time constraints, but I was there with a Weekly Plus deal deciding if I wanted to make this my regular hair salon, so I feel like that was a bit of a fail on their part. I had my first facial with Beth this morning. I'm typically so-so about facials. But she is really good! I've had some migraines this past week and some dizziness. Because of her expertise, I both got the facial I wanted and also feel better! She let me know what she was doing, asked for my input, and expertly applied each product. It's been hours, and my face still feels moist and looks good. She did quite a few extractions, but I don't look overly red. I went straight to a lunch date. I started going to Sun Spa when my old stylist, Carole, moved there. Like the previous reviewer, I followed Carole from Urban Renewal in Capitol Hill. I've been getting my hair cut by Carole for over 6 years and she is an excellent hair stylist. Here's what I like about Carole: -She is progressive without being pretentious -She listens to me and does what I want even when it might not be what she would recommend -She is excellent at color and cut and I like going to one person -When I am feeling undecided she always has good ideas that are in my taste range -She has a selection of avant garde hairstyling magazines so I'm not stuck with Hollywood's Hairstyles -She is not pushy but has good recommendations for products that I have always ended up being pleased with -She is professional but also funny and easy to engage with As for Sun Spa, one great benefit is that there is free parking (as opposed to meter parking). The salon is modern and clean, the staff is friendly and hip without being scenester hipsters types (those hair stylists always bug me). It's nice that you can kill two birds with one stone (hair and tan). It's also close to Belmar so I can run errands while I'm over in that part of town. I came in for a spray tan on February 22nd, between 1 and 2pm. So happy to have a great place to visit that is so close to my house. The spray tan was easy and I love that there are different levels of tan that you can select. The best part? I was telling the kind woman who was managing the front desk (unfortunately I forgot to ask her name!) that I was having a stressful day, and that I was really hoping my day would turn around. When I was done with my tan, she had prepared a bag of goodies and samples for me to take home! That was incredibly sweet, and so caring. I went to Sunspa tanning recently during a trip to Lakewood and had a great experience. I purchased a massage and a spray tan- first ever!. They have a great line of products and the staff was courteous and professional - they were really helpful in recommending products and I ended up buying a couple different lotions that I hadn't seen at my salon in California. The massage was FANTASTIC - Beth is great and I would definitely recommend her to anyone in the Colorado area. She does Swedish, Deep Tissue and Cranial-Sacral among other kinds of massage. I had been experience a lot of pain in my shoulders and neck (like many people i hunch forward while working on my laptop) and I noticed a big difference afterwards. If I didn't live out of state I would definitely do one of the package deals for the spray tans - I've gotten a ton of compliments so far. In short - I like this place and the people who work there. I went here for the oxygen bar because of altitude sickness and chronic illness. The woman who helped me was the owner and was very nice. The oxygen bar is out in the open right when you walk in and the price was $15 for 20min. You can buy point packages that bring the price down though. Will be back. read more

I don't know what these other reviews are talking about that have bad things to say! This is by far the best tanning salon I've been to. The owner Courtney is just a doll! She's so helpful and sweet. The salon is always clean, the staff is friendly and the beds are awesome. My favorite thing is the wet wipes in the room to clean your hands so they don't get all weird from the bronzer in the lotions. I also got my hair done by Lacy and she was amazing. I've been coming to SunSpa as a Tanning and Hair client for 6 months now and I have always had a great experience! Aggie does my hair and she's top notch! She is funky and innovative with a classy edge that sets her apart from other stylists. She can do anything from a rainbow Mohawk to elegant caramel highlights and she is versatile with both precision and texture cutting techniques. Not to mention She lights up the room with her infectious laughter! I've been watching a lot of the other stylists as well and they are all clearly very experienced and I always see lots of happy regular clients coming and going. I've only been here to tan before a vacation (6 times) but I won't be going back. The bed I used seemed outdated & poorly maintained even though it was the highest level bed. There was a crack in the plastic covering the bulbs, the fan intake on the bed was clogged with dust, the head cushion was torn (like a cheap restaurant booth seat) & the girl receptionist girl told me to "flip over" half way through my time because the top bulbs are the bronzing ones & you don't want to tan uneven. I've been going to SunSpa for over a year now and I absolutely love it. I have pasty skin and cannot develop a real "tan" in the sun or beds. That is why the Versa system has been such a godsend for me! There are a few different options depending on how dark you want your color to be. Light is super light and doesn't make much of a difference on my skin. The natural color is perfect for me and really does look natural. The max bronze is pretty intense, it just deposits more color on your skin, and was too dark for me. Also, Shauna is my stylist and she really knows what she is doing. I went to a different salon after visiting her a couple times just to see how someone else would color my hair and it was horrific. Needless to say I had to come crying to Shauna and she fixed me right up. She just does a full highlight so beautifully, it looks completely perfect and natural. I'll never stray again. read more

I did a hydration session last week and was treated very well by Savannah. She explained the process thoroughly and I had a nice experience. I waited to do the review because I wanted to see how long the treatment lasted for my skin and it was a good 5-6 days of softness. If you dislike going into a steam room (I hate breathing the air and getting it on my face), this is the way to go! You are in full control of the temperature and your head is out of the tube with an adjustable fan on your face. Aggie is by far one of the most talented hair stylists that I have ever had! I could not recommend a more talented, professional, individual. When I first came here I had a terrible haircut mishap that needed some serious fixing, and Aggie did not hesitate. I went to this spa in hopes of finding a better tanning salon than I have encountered in denver. I was Highly disappointed. The guy was too busy on his phone than to focus on me. He rushed me and pushed product on me. When I asked for a sample lotion, he only offered ones I had to purchase. I even mentioned the trouble I had been having finding a quality tanning salon but he was disinterested and just cared about shoving me on my way to attend to his phone. I am giving this salon a high rating due to my great service from DJ Lee. She is wonderful and her prices are reasonable. This may not be true for other stylists there as I read the bad reviews. She offers everything from extensions to color and cuts and.............you do not have to take a loan out just get your hair to look fabulous. Ha. My hair looks great due to DJ and I have tried many stylists in the past. I do not know much about the tanning services, so you are all on your own for those services, but give DJ a call. Just an fyi, signing a contract for a specific length of time apparently doesn't mean much because they kept charging me after it should've been up. I called and was told that it's my responsibility to "cancel" it, even though I thought agreeing to 2 years meant that's all I was agreeing to. To Sun Spa's credit, they were polite and quickly agreed to stop charging immediately without making me come in to sign anything, but I'm not a happy camper that no one ever told me I would need to do that (especially after being unable to cancel before).
