I got my haircut and beard trim at the Bodhi Salon this past weekend. My stylist Kayla was amazing, super friendly, and knew what she was doing. By far not many places know how to do a skin fade and beard trims unless it is a barbershop and they specialize in it. The atmosphere is great, regardless of the brand new location for this business, it feels like it's been here for years, with lots of locals coming in, knowing each other saying HIs:) You can also meet the owner Stacy and her cutest puppy. Stacy is a super sweet and professional lady, you can easily tell by the way this place operates and the people she has attracted to this cute place. I discovered this place as a walk-in my neighborhood, because I saw a spray tan Groupon. I was looking to transform my boring shoulder length bob cut and Stacey helped me design, select, order, and install extensions for the first time. I was nervous, since this can be an expensive process to fix if you don't like it, but she was super informative and the color match to my highlighted natural auburn hair was awesome. I included pictures of the newly installed (straight), styled after an intermediate cut (curly with pink shirt) and then 6 weeks in while on vacation (blown out) so you can see how well they lasted and wore in. read more

Stacy did a great job on my hair. I had used henna and it was even more dark that I desired since I tried to apply only to my roots which is very difficult. I did wait about ten months and had touched my roots with real chestnut hair color, so that I would eventually be able to lighten my hair. Stacy actually brought me from a dark brown shade to a platinum blond! She wasn't totally satisfied and worked on my hair a couple more times to achieve the shade she felt was "right." She's fun and friendly. As the owner, she makes sure you are treated right. I really like Salon Bodhi. I found them through Groupon for a spray tan which also was fabulous. read more

Well here it goes. While my first experience with this salon was a positive one 6 years ago I know it was due to the skilled stylist who left there not long after. This time around I got 4 appointment reminders through text & email in less than a month which was excessive but also ridiculous when I also got a call a few days beforehand asking me about a note on my account that didn't make any sense. If you can't make sense of your own schedule and your employees can't notate things properly that's already a red flag. I was told I had to get Ouidad even though I just needed to clean up my curls. I don't need carve & slice and I don't care for the rake & shake. That's just not how I wear my hair. Heidi was sweet, attentive and fast but I didn't see her using the carve & slice method. It was a very basic cut which unfortunately came out uneven on the bottom. Very disappointed. The cut would be fine minus that. I feel like if you're charging $95 for a specialty cut that should never ever happen. Also using tons of product and finger curling at the end without asking the client how they like to style their hair is not good practice. I wear and grow my curls out to be bigheaded natural. I have my own look I feel comfortable with but she didn't get it even though I showed a pic. It wasn't until I got home and went through it to allow its texture to come back that I saw a chunk missing on one side. It'll grow out but I'm done with this Ouidad nonsense and won't recommend this spot. You shouldn't have to pay over $100 for a solid cut just because you have naturally curly hair! Unfortunately many places want to make a profit and promise all kinds of skills that are over exaggerated and not worth the price. A skilled curly stylist should be able to identify your curl pattern(s) and use solid techniques to achieve the structure and look that you want. Curly women of all backgrounds should have options and be able to get interesting flattering cuts that celebrate curliness. Instead a lot of these specialist services are meant to 'tame and control' the hair you are born with in order to make it look less 'messy' and more boring or mainstream. Boooooo! read more

My friend Bruce and I decided to treat ourselves to a spa day, and after much research we decided on going here...and I think we made the perfect choice. Salon Bodhi is so cute and inviting, and the staff were all super nice and attentive. We both got a 30-min. Swedish massage, spa mani, and spa pedi with paraffin wax treatment. The massage was amazing, and the masseuse did a wonderful job with amount of pressure and focus areas. The nail technician also did a fabulous job on my hands and feet, especially with the massage part. I liked how they had a ton of different nail colors to choose from, even some with real gold flecks in it! We even got to enjoy glasses of wine while getting our nails done! My one complaint with this place is that there is only 1 nail technician. We really wanted to get both of our manis and pedis done at the same time, to spend some quality time together chatting and catching up. However, part of the time was spent apart and waiting. This place would've received 5-stars from me if they were able to have 2 people doing nails at the same time. Overall, it was a fabulous day of pampering, and achieved what we wanted from our visit. Plus, their prices are very reasonable and completely worth it, in my opinion. I'll definitely be back for another massage, and possibly a mani/pedi....I just might need to go by myself. read more

I went to this salon today to touch up the color on my roots and get a trim. The staff was very friendly and the place also very nice. The gal that did my hair was wonderful. I am super scared of new salons as I have had bad experiences with my naturally curly hair but Elena was Fantastic!! I am so glad I found this place. I will be a return customer for sure. I would have given this place a 5 star rating, but the only negative was the price. I spent $150 and I guess I am spoiled, because in Seattle I got the same services at a highly reputable salon for $90. read more

Stopped going after my color came out so so so wrong. Prior to this I went for natural styling in two stand twist and flat twist-- which were nice. Just wish the stylist who did my hair was more inventive regarding new styles to offer... eventually I felt like the styling was redundant and I look the same week after week. Also when I suggested new styles which are quite common in the natural Hair community I felt that I was either told no due her lack of experience or met with some resistance. She simply wanted to do two strand twist my hair and that was it. Natural hair is far to versatile for that. Had she been willing to correct the coloring mistake and not try to dispute May claims ... which were obvious... I may have stayed and try to work it out. read more

The 1 star is for the fact that the staff at Salon Bodhi were super friendly. The results of the service itself are pretty devastating. Several months ago, I got the Ouidad Cut for my wavy/curly hair (by Heidi). Heidi was really nice and energetic the entire time. Here's the issue- I confided in Heidi that my hair had started thinning for a few months due to an illness I had about 6 months back, and while the thinning eventually stopped, I could feel that my hair was thinner than it used to be and that in itself was pretty traumatizing for me. I made it clear that I wanted my hair to feel and look fuller & healthy again. Obviously she can't just give me more hair, but I have been to salons that gave my hair more volume and a fuller appearance just with the cut itself. Regardless, the last thing I would have ever EVER wanted was for her to THIN my hair, considering my recent experiences, and that's exactly what she did. I watched Heidi thin my hair and when I asked about it, she assured me that this was part of the Ouidad process and that she wasn't actually thinning it. She definitely was. If you have a ton of hair and want to get rid of it, maybe disregard this review. But if you like your volume or want to keep the fullness of your hair alive, I'd suggest going elsewhere. read more

Candace Post is the most amazing hair stylist I have had the pleasure of meeting. Not only were her services AMAZING but she is also such a wonderful and beautiful person inside and out. Candace genuinely cares about all of her clients and absolutely takes pride in all of her work. She made me laugh and feel comfortable from the second I walked through the door. She busted out a full head of highlights and a color correction in around 30 minutes (which is super fast) and now I absolutely LOVE my hair. We also talked about extensions too. Candace doesn't overcharge anyone, in fact, she charges much less for extensions and measures them in order to fit your head perfectly. I am going to be in a wedding and she will actually let me pay in payments. I'm super excited for that and the fact that I now have a new hair stylist. She is flexible. She's awesome. I think that you should definitely check out this place if you are trying to find a new salon home. If you're a blonde looking for any sort of balayage or live in blonde color service- don't go here. I was in for a standard balayage service, and it turned out blotchy, the bleach was bleeding into other hair areas, and yellow. I went back in for a touch up, and somehow left in worse condition than I was in before. I now have an appointment elsewhere for a color correction, where during my consultation at this other salon the stylist was very concerned about the state of my hair that I was left with. During my appt at Bodhi, it did not seem that the stylists had much knowledge of the products at their salon. At one point, my stylist asked another stylist her opinion on which toner she should use on my head, and the other stylist responded with "I have no clue". My stylist was also crying during my initial hair appt because she was concerned with the way my color was turning out. Overall, it was a very stressful experience, and I now have to go to another salon and spend more money to have my hair fixed. I think they do well with simple services and cuts, but I would not come here for anything complex. read more

I went here for a spray tan. I have had spray tans before and they usually come out looking pretty natural. I decided to try this salon out since they had a Groupon deal and they are in my neighborhood. I am pretty disappointed with the final product. I woke up this morning looking very Umpa Lumpa orange and my tan is extremely streaky around my wrist and feet. There is a white line about 9 inches long down my right forearm where no tanner must have been applied and dark patches around both wrists. I will be returning since my Groupon was for two tans. Hopefully next time will turn out better! read more

Called to make an appointment and checked to make sure they could get me out in a certain time frame because I had a flight to catch. Went in for highlights and a curly session. According to my stylist my appointment was booked wrong. She lightened my hair but didn't apply any color! She rushed through the curly session and only applied heat shield product. I left the salon with wet hair bc it wasn't diffused. I have really blonde streaks and 2 days later the Cleveland humidity has gotten my hair! I got charged full price for highlights when all she did was lighten my hair! The stylist was like come back and I can apply color. She wants to charge me full price again to come back so she can finish the job she started. SMH! I will not be returning to this salon. read more

On our second visit we were called numerous times before the appointment asking if we wanted to move inside. I said we were fine with outdoor haircuts and that's why we choose the salon. It was in the 50s the day of the appointment. Arrived and was repeatedly asked, badgered, to have the haircut inside and was promised that we'd be the only people on the floor. Two Havens for the Curly and Textured!! In the wake of the Fluff saga, I want to share who did the amazing job on my hair you see in the profile photo. Judhet, formerly of Salon Bodhi. I enjoyed being at Salon Bodhi, it's a great spot, they gave me some wonderful tea and the front desk person, Lynn, was awesome in person and on the phone when we were rescheduling and when she called to tell me Judhet was no longer there (Judhet has a studio in My Studio on Colorado Blvd now, a cute little space but more on Judhet later). I really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the set up at Salon Bodhi. They gave me a birthday discount even though I was a first time customer- that was kind and it made me smile. It's a clean place with a nice selection of products and I thought the price I paid was fair. I got a deep conditioning treatment, a trim, a blow dry and a twist out style. My hair was fluffy and light and shiny when I left. I came here less than a week after my disappointment at Fluff and Judhet trimmed two inches. Fair enough. I saw lots of different textures being done here. They don't seem to overbook and I appreciate that they valued my time. Thanks!!! Anthone LaBadie is the most AMAZING stylist I have ever been to. I honestly don't think there is anything he can't do with Color let alone Cut/Style. I moved to Denver last year and was nervous about finding a salon for curly hair. I found this specialty salon. Any salon that specializes in curly hair is awkward on the pricey side. I am always greeted by the front desk, she's very friendly. They sell products, clothes, and accessories. They also offer pedi/mani, waxing, and spray tanning. It has been a struggle to find a professional hairdresser that can work on african american hair in Denver. I have tried out several salons but always left unhappy and disappointed with the lack of professionalism I encountered. However, I decided to try out Juhdet at Salon Bodhi because of her positive Yelp reviews and I am so happy I did. She was absolutely amazing! Juhdet was extremely professional and spent a lot of time educating me on my hair texture and how to keep it healthy. Absolutely love my hair and loved the haircut she gave me. It takes me forever to trust someone to cut my hair because of prior negative experiences but I trusted Juhdet immediately and she did an amazing job blending in all the funky layers I had in the back of my hair from a previous bad haircut. Salon Bodhi has one of those deceptively small store fronts that, once you walk in, reveals a surprisingly spacious, warm inviting space. Everyone there was super friendly and I felt very welcome. It is a great neighborhood salon that provides a wide range of services. I had walked by a number of times and popped in to see if I could get a last-minute (brow)wax and it turned out really well. It has been a difficult journey trying to find someone who is an expert with curly hair, particularly, course, kinky. ethnic hair. I originally tried to go to More Than Curly salon, but they offered a price that was unreasonable and unaffordable. At that point, I began to do my research and picked Salon Bodhi, asking specifically for Juhdet. I came in and waited for a short time before I was put in her chair. I was a bit nervous and told her about my concerns about my hair, specifically with it being dry and not being able to form nice, individual curls. Juhdet was very attentive and did a fantastic job with my hair. Her Ouidad cut was probably the best one I have received. Also, she made the process fairly quickly and finished at a reasonable time. I have so much hair and it usually takes about 4 hours or more, but she finished my hair in record time, at 2 hours. I definitely recommend any curly haired lady to come visit this salon. I went to the salon for a "gel" manicure without an appointment. The receptionist had to check if they were able to provide this service despite the fact that they advertise that they off shellac/gel manicures. She returned, said the person who could do this would be in shortly, asked me to fill out some forms and to kindly wait. I was happy to although wondered why she was unaware as to whether this basic service was offered. After about 20 minutes, she approached me and apologizes saying that the woman is unable to do a "gel"/shellac but would be happy to do a regular manicure. I thanked her, declined and left. A waste of my time, leaving me a sense that if the receptionist did not know the services available how good could they be? I shall not return. Perhaps they should hire a staff to provide manicures as advertised nor simply not offer the service. A real disappointment. read more
