I was really excited to find a new hair salon closer to my home. Lyndsey was fun to chat with and I enjoyed the appointment, however I am extremely disappointed with the results. After spending 3 hours in the salon and $175 later, my hair looked exactly the same as when I came in. I don't know what happened. Lyndsey was so articulate and thorough with her highlights, her washing and toning. I was sure it was going to be my best highlight appointment ever. I've attached a photo of what my hair looks like now and what it should look like. There is an obvious root line that I came to the appointment with, that should have been fixed with my highlight. So incredibly disappointed. I really hope the salon owner or someone sees this and reaches out to make things right. In terms of customer service - a flat out zero. They moved, but neglected to tell me when I made the appointment. There are 7 parlour salons in the Denver area. When I called to say I was going to be a few minutes late, they did not give me an address. I have sat and waited for 30 minutes when they have run behind. When I called them back from the wrong Parlour salon, (now only running 16 minutes late), they cancelled my appointment. They cancelled my appointment and then charged me for a cancellation. Oh, and for good measure, they charged my more for the cancellation than the appointment was going to cost. Ugh. read more

I had made an appointment one month ago (October) and told to go online to review the stylists and price. I reviewed online and found one of the stylists that is experienced in gray blending (Francesca). I went to make an appointment online but was not able to finalize because it was asking me to put a credit card to charge $90 which I found odd. I did not feel comfortable doing this. I called back same day explaining my concern about the online charge. I was told this is when client doesn't show since we have other clients. I stated I was not comfortable with this since I have not met with stylist. She did go ahead and take my appointment for particular stylist (Francesca) and explained to her why I chose her since she is the only one experienced with gray blending. As I arrived to the salon about half hour before my appointment during a cold, windy day, I was not able to get into the salon then realized must ring the bell. (Francesca) stylist opened the door and stepped back. My observation, she did not welcome me and kept stepping back from me, even though I had a covering over my mouth, but have difficulty breathing so had to breathe through my nose. I understand it is difficult dealing with current situations, but there was no reason to be rude and unfriendly. I explained and showed pictures what I was looking for, but she kept walking away from me. How are you to know what I am looking for and having to touch my hair to give me your advice? Then, (Francesca) stated the appointment show all over color. I stated to her that is not what I said when I made the appointment and explained to her why I chose particular stylist. She kept saying that is not what is on the appointment. I stated that is not my fault, I even have a recording on my phone states what I said when I made the appointment. Nonetheless, I asked for the owner's card, which she seemed to be afraid to give me as if I am diseased! I had enough that due to my discontent on how disappointed I was with her service. I left nearly in tears. I called my son who referred only because saw online, that he called and spoke (Francesca) and told him I was rude to her! That was far from it. I will NEVER return! However, I have to thank you because I did find another salon that was much friendlier and professional and took care of my needs and now will be a forever client there. read more

Love love love this spot! I've been going to Hind now for almost 10 years and she's a whiz with color especially, but also being able to transform your inspiration photo into reality. She's also cut my all of my kids' hair and is WONDERFUL with squirmy kids and pensive tweenagers. Vanessa cuts my daughters' curly hair and does an amazing job, and we've also seen Kaitlyn, who did great. I'm so glad I found Sparrow!! Vanessa has cut my hair twice now and done an amazing job. She immediately gets what I'm going for and what will work on my hair type - which is thick, awkwardly wavy in the back and straight in the front. I've struggled to find what worked with my hair for years, but Vanessa nailed it. Plus when I mentioned to her that I prefer to air dry my hair, she actually had me come back in a few days after my cut with it air dried so she could tailor it to my natural curl pattern. I've been going to Leah for a little over a year now. When I moved to Denver I was in need of a really good stylist who was good with curly hair. Finding Leah was a godsend. I will admit, when Abby (my hair stylist) told me she was relocating to a new salon I was bummed. I do not like change. The salon she was previously at, was close to my house and familiar....but that is it. Hesitantly, I made an appointment at Sparrow Hair Parlour, on a Saturday, and was pleasantly surprised in so many ways. First, the location, downtown Edgewater. I love downtown anything, and didn't know Edgewater had one! This part of town is very centrally located, easy to get to, and there is ample street parking, that is FREE. The décor of Sparrow, is just enough that it's "cool" without being overly cliché. I had a small wait, because I didn't realize how close downtown Edgewater really is, and relaxed in a funky yellow mod-like couch looking outside. There were plenty of products to smell and magazines to read. I was offered water (served in a mason jar) which was so appreciated because I was slightly, umm...dehydrated from the night before. I already knew Abby, but upon arriving, I was greeted by other stylists that were extremely personable. The salon space itself is very open, nothing feels cramped, and I fell in love with the wallpaper, a purple shimmery chevron like pattern! The light fixtures are industrial, modern, complex and fantastic to look at. Abby is a wonderful and talented hair stylist who will always listen to what you want, even if you are having trouble expressing it. (She even did my hair and make up for my wedding and bridal party). The prices at Sparrow are incredibly reasonable and you can book appointments online. There was no snootiness because everyone was welcoming, and the music wasn't some obscure new noise rock band that no one has heard of. BOTTOM LINE IS....There may be other "hipstery" salons around town, but I guarantee you, Sparrow Hair Parlour is cooler than most other places that will likely be out of business in a few months. Definitely check this salon out...and after, go grab a beer at one of the nearby bars, showing off your "new do" while looking out at Sloan's Lake. In my book, this is way cooler than fighting for paid street parking in Capitol Hill or the Highlands. read more

Vanessa, the owner, is always super friendly to me as well. They offer my all time fave R&Co. hair products, which besides the care of Jamie, I feel those products saved my hair life! The thing I love about this place - other than it's being walking distance from my house - is that there's a stylist here for everyone. Want a classic timeless haircut? They have someone for that. Want your hair colored Cookie Monster blue with purple tips? They have someone for that. Want someone who's great with kids? They have someone for that. It's just a matter of choosing the right stylist. Minus one star because half the hair washes I've had here have been uncomfortably cold. There's some sort of issue with their water heater. This occurred while they were in the adjacent space to their new location, so hopefully that's now resolved. read more

Well, I have, but those haircuts required my hair to be something it's not--straight and cooperative. But this girl works some MAGIC on my curly hair! I have incredibly thick hair and to boot, I also have ALOT of hair - Jamie listens to what I want, makes suggestions of what she thinks will look great, and makes you feel comfortable the entire time. Sparrow is in a really cute little neighborhood near Sloane's Lake and the salon itself is also adorable. It's small, quaint, and only has a couple other stylists. I was offered a glass of water when I came in and Jamie came and got me right away. She waxed my brows first, and then we talked about what I wanted. I trust her and she always tells me exactly how much I should take off for my hair to be healthy and happy! I love that Sparrow is in Aveda salon so I feel like I am so pampered with the little scalp massages during the wash. Aveda products also smell amazing to me!
