I had my hair cut here a few weeks back. I took a look at the board and said I just wanted a haircut. I asked my stylist (Tanya) if shampoo and style was included and she said yes. She got water on my face when washing my hair, and put the hair clips on my ear (it pinched my ear). She told me she would not cut her hair short because her boyfriend likes it long (even though my cut was only shoulder length). When it was all done, she charged me $30 instead of what was written on the board ($18). When I asked her why, she said shampoo and style were not included. I told her that's why I asked if it was included, so I was a little frustrated with that. My hair is also uneven a little in the front, so the quality of the cut wasn't so great. In a pinch, they'll do. Just skip the shampoo and style. My Dad likes this place, so maybe they are better with male hair. Just my feedback on this place. read more

Five stars! And here's why: The people that work there are wonderfully nice, they asked what my preferences are, and they listened as we went along. The prices were very fair considering comparable prices in the region are at least twice as much. For a wash and a cut, expect to pay around $30-40. That is beyond reasonable considering just down the road you start at $47 with just a cut. As for my haircut: I'm beyond happy with it! The length is great, it's even, and it feels HEALTHY! My partner also went in for a trip and maintenance on her undercut and is just as pleased. The best sign, while I was here, was actually the number of regulars that were there that the employees seemed to be familiar with. I had just moved to Shoreline and found this neighborhood friendly salon recently (The Cut). Yesterday, I took my son in for a haircut. At the moment I had walked in, a kind female hairstylist greeted us (I think her name is Ai/Angela?). She did a very nice fade for my son so well, I decided to get one for myself too. She also offered us hair wash and scalp massages (free) because we were new customers of The Cut Hair Salon. It was a reasonable price at $16 each (no tax too). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants a nice cut in Shoreline. read more

The Cut exceeded all of my expectations. I called the day of trying to make an appointment for a balayage and haircut. They were able to fit me in within 30 minutes. Everyone was so friendly, and based on their interactions with other clients I could tell everyone there had good experience. Now on to the hair..my stylish was Linh. She was great! I showed her a couple pictures; she gave me some tips and suggestions but still accommodated my preference. For example, I was debating between caramel brown vs mauve balayage. Linh told me to get mauve color to show, I would need more time to bleach my hair which may cause more damage. In the end, we went with the caramel brown / dark brown double color balayage. I have a lot of hair, but Linh was super patient with doing my hair, strand by strand. She then proceeded to give me a thorough hair wash and conditioner (which lasted like 10 minutes) Not only that, after the hair was done, she gave me a lob cut as well as curled my hair so that it looked just like the picture I showed her. By this time it was already their closing time, but Linh showed no sign of rush. She was so thorough. I'm so grateful for that, as I have had bad experience with rushed hair stylists. In the end, the whole thing cost me $110. I couldn't believe it. I finally found my salon :) please give this salon a try! read more

Don't listen to the five-star reviews. Once in a while, you might get a competent barber, but don't expect to get a good one every time. I give this place a one-star rating for a few reasons, the most important, obviously, being the haircut itself. I've been here several times and have experienced mediocre service, but today was the worst. Let me paint the whole picture: First thing, the sign says "No Wait." That's a lie, but not a big deal. I don't mind waiting for a haircut. The second thing that happens is a woman calls me to get my haircut. She asks me how I want it, and I explain in detail how long I want it. She didn't appear to be listening very carefully, which should have been a red flag for me, but I thought "no big deal." I just needed it trimmed a little, and I described the length using my fingers. Even if she got the length wrong a little, it wouldn't be the end of the world. It's a simple enough job, right? She cuts it half that length. Literally half as long as I want it. It was as if she has one particular ideal for how a man's scalp should look and she cuts every guy's hair the exact same way to match that ideal without caring for the instructions she was given. Everybody should look the same, apparently. But that isn't the worst part . . . I'm not an argumentative person. This is actually my first Yelp review. I pointed out to her that it was too short, and if she had apologized or actually acted like she cared I could have it brushed it off as a bad day, but instead she began arguing with me. She told me that this is how I wanted my haircut! She said she asked me and I approved, which is complete BS. She never took the time to ask me anything or even talk to me, aloof in her own world the whole time chatting in Vietnamese with the other employees. She tells me "What's the point of getting a haircut?" if I didn't want a huge chunk of my hair to fall off. But even this isn't the worst part . . . The worst part is that none of the other employees, including the one in charge, really seemed to care. No customer service what-so-ever. No, "we're sorry" or "we'll try to do better next time." Maybe I should have made a scene, but that's not me. I always leave a generous tip for whoever cuts my hair, but I was tempted to refuse to pay at all this time. But again, that's not me, so I paid for whatever happened to my head and left. Do yourself a favor and NEVER go there. read more

I've been going to The Cut for 2+ years, but today might be my last. I waited patiently for 3 people to get their hair cut. When it was my turn, the workers couldn't remember who was next. I stood up to go sit in the chair to get my hair cut when a homeless looking man wearing dirty ripped army pants insisted he was before me. I told him he was there for maybe 5 minutes while I have been waiting for 30 minutes. He told the workers he was before me and that confused them even more. When I told the man not to lie and wait his turn he replied by insulting me. The workers turned to me and asked me to wait a little longer. Out of principal, I left because I refused to wait for this man to cut me. Overall, I was very disappointed in the way the workers handled the situation. It may be a while before I return. read more

They dont know anything about fade they will just use the machine go like a friend who want to help you look fresh but dont know anhthing about haircut. I am never going back there. read more

This salon is a great place to get an excellent haircut, color, foil, and style done! The hairstylists are super nice and have great report with clients. I have never had to wait very long. The fees are half as much (or less) as Gene Juarez, yet the quality of service is just as good! They don't have a fancy salon, but it is clean, inviting, and organized. So, if you prefer to pay for just the haircare services and not the additional cost of a fancy-schmancy environment, then this is the perfect place to go! They even give an incredible head & neck massage when they shampoo! I felt so pampered, beautiful, and relaxed when I was done that I won't go to any other salon now. read more

I used to come here all the time when I was younger, but then I stopped because I found other places to get my eyebrow & lip wax/hair done. However out of convenience; I came back just to get a simple lip wax. DO NOT EVER get your wax done here. It was the most unprofessionally done, sloppy and rude service I have ever had. The whole time, i felt like I was in bad hands and scared/completely unsure that the person doing the wax for me had past experience in what he was waxing on my face. This experience was terrible. When I walked in, this man was eager to wax my lip. But what I didn't know was that he did not know what he was doing the entire 10 minutes I was on the table. When you wax ones lip, you put a stroke of wax on one side and carefully, but quickly remove the paper. This man decided to not look at me as he waxed me, practically burned my lip and instead of plucking the other hairs off, he just kept adding wax onto my lip to remove the little hairs (and this was for both sides of my lip too). I'm not sure if this guy is lazy or just inexperienced, but he had a little attitude with me while I was laying down being worked on. It was a waste of my time and $4.50. I ended up going home with all this wax on my face because he didn't bother removing the remainings off my lip and I had to pluck the rest of the hairs I saw in which he DID NOT GET after basically painting my lip on with wax. On and off I go for my haircut and color here but what I noticed their pricing is always inconsistent to their pricing sheet. What annoys me when the owner talks in their language to the stylist when time to pay. Also, when there is a line of customers they rush what they are doing, regardless you go to your usual stylist. I got a pretty bad haircut here (the first "stylist" sat me down, grabbed a pair of scissors, and asked what I wanted. When I said I wanted a bob cut, she admitted she wasn't a stylist at all, and was just going to trim my hair, but if I needed a real haircut I'd have to wait for the real stylist, NO KIDDING - THAT HAPPENED). Then the "real" stylist ended up doing a poor job, no technique at all - he didn't know how to cut layers, so just didn't do them.... Long and short - they may be OK for men's hair but I wouldn't trust them for ladies cuts... Also, had the worst pedicure I've ever had. The technician didn't know what she was doing, and basically painted my nails AND toes, it looked like a child did it.... My sister had it even worse, because her pedicure was atrocious AND her big toe became infected a few days later (her nails were cut crazy short, and we're not convinced the spa was cleaned properly). I was having a hard time finding a place that would cut his hair and not make him look like he was entering the military. I have been going here for about 2 years and have had my hair cut by almost 10 different stylist in that time and every single time I come in they nail it! I've always found that that in most salons I've been too, I'm lucky to get a 1 or 2 who cut mens hair well but the talent in this place runs deep! Add on the fact that I am not really that good at explaining what I want and yet they find a way to give me what I was looking for. Ok, this is my second review on Yelp, my first was about another place for a haircut where I had a very, very, very bad experience X2 and would never go back, check out my review. So, I have been searching for a place skilled in a basic high fade military haircut and I saw The Cut accross from Les Schwab when I was getting my tires rotated, so I took a chance and went in since my hair was way out of control and in need of a serious cut. I was seen right away by I believe her name is Monica and I told her what I wanted and she went to work, I could tell right away she knew what she was doing and had the skill with the clippers. She kept on checking with me if it was what I wanted, which I really appreciated, I asked her to make the fade higher and she had no problem accomodating me and I even asked if she could shave the sides and back down to the skin and she was very happy to say sure what ever I wanted! Everything I asked for she had no problem doing and did the work with evident skills that I have been looking for. Monica absolutely knew how to trim the top of my head and fixed the weird curl in my bangs when my hair gets way too long. I can only speak for mens haircuts, I would recommend Monica, all you have to do is ask what you want and be specific in a haircut and she will accomodate you. I finally found a place in Shoreline to get a haircut the way I want it! I willl see Monica again in 2 weeks for sure. read more

The Cut is my one and only favorite neighborhood salons in Shoreline. The staff are so nice and professional. One of the gals gave me layers and I love it so much! It looks so pretty. I only paid $22 bucks ;) This is also where I often get my eyebrows wax. I'm always satisfied with their customer service. I loved this salon :) I usually get my hair cut at the Regis salon at Alderwood, but I've also had it cut at the Gene Jaurez and Mastercuts at Northgate and they were just ok. I walked in around 5 pm on a Friday, there was no wait, I got my hair washed, cut (nice layers) and my eyebrows waxed for the first time. I did not enjoy my experience at this salon today. My usual hair stylist is closed right now, but I am getting senior pictures done soon so I needed a haircut. When i walked in I showed the hair stylist pictures of my previous haircut. After this she created a dome on top of my head, which is not what I wanted or a good hair style for anyone with thick, short hair. I had to use my hands to actually communicate what I wanted by making a triangle on my head with my hands. Even that is still an oversimplification of my actual haircut. They offered me a hair wash since it was my first time in the salon, I said yes because a scalp massage is nice, right? It was going okay until she lathered this conditioner on my head that smelled like the strongest minty toothpaste ever and made my scalp itch. To top it all off I noticed toward the end of my haircut that her license was 3 months expired. I asked if she had an updated one and they insisted she just hadn't put it up yet, but they have no way of proving that to me. I ended up with a decent haircut, but my experience was really bad and I definitely wont be going there again. read more

I am not huge on maintaining a haircut. Also, I do not like to spend tons of money on my hair. But when I do get my hair cut, I am really picky. I always have Lily cut my hair when I visit The Cut. She does an awesome job. I've never experienced anyone else. (My best friend referred me to Lily. She had been seeing Lily for years and she is SUPER chic and fashion forward. I was shocked when she told me that she didn't use a high-end salon). AND, it's cheap. You can't beat that. (We're talking in the upper $20 range for a full wash, cut and style). I have been going to this place for about 12 years (since they opened). The staff has always been courteous and accommodating, and you get that small town feel. It seems like most of the Shoreline population go there for their haircuts. I am prior military and usually just get a medium fade to the sides and back, and trim/short on top. I've gone to many other places in the Lakewood, JBLM, Seattle, North Seattle, Lynnwood, and Mountlake Terrace. None of them can beat the regular haircut price for men, and then add a hair wash with head and shoulder massage on top of that? You'll end up with a $30-50 bill at most places. Be sure to know what you want ahead of time. I have friends who actually bring pictures of the style they want as this greatly assists the stylists to have an objective image of what you want. Notes: - Each stylist has their own years of experience and skill sets. - If unsure who to let cut your hair, just request Lily (the owner). - In my opinion, they have lots of loyal families come for children and men's haircuts because these types of cuts are consistently affordable and good. - Yes, they talk a lot of Vietnamese. Because they ARE Vietnamese. It'll be the same experience if you go to any ethnic/culturally rich salon. Lastly, there's a Subway and Filipino food store next door to while you're waiting. I took my children there for haircuts, this will be the third and last time. The last two times they put us with the male there and they don't give us the option for who can cut the kids hair. He clearly doesn't know what he was doing since he kept asking for help from the other stylists. The haircut he gave the older child is uneven and he cut her neck with the clippers. I have to take her again to another place to have her hair cleaned up. She is older and sat still for the appt. They were patient with our other child who cried. I wish they would ask us who we would like to work with instead of being pushy for us to always go with the male who didn't know what he was doing. read more

First time going to The Cut, very clean and nice establishment. I called and made a same day appointment with no problem, when I got there Jennie greeted me and was the stylists who did my hair.. Very pleasant and nice. I went in for Root touch up, cut and style. On there Web site/ Yelp photo they show they have package deals, when I asked about it she advised me that the packages are only for short hair! No where on there does it state that . Anyway really needed my hair done badly I normally go to Lotus in Renton whom I love but wanted to find a place closer to me so I went here. Jennie did a great job, pretty much cut it how I wanted it with a few hit and misses here and there but way better from when I had walked in. At the end my total charge for root touch up, cut, style and a mani with no polish was $125.00 not including tip I was floored, I pay $55-60 at Lotus for the same thing and they do an amazing job. I have wavy, thick, coarse black hair passed down to me from my mother. My hair stylist was Lea, she has such a great personality. She knew right away how to cut my hair to fit my cute, diamond shape face. Yes, cute. I have always kept my hair long. I wanted a modern look, something in-style like a short bob. I was a bit skeptical having my hair cut short. But, she did an amazing job. She did something to my hair to give it a lighter feel. I was impressed by her quick hands and accuracy. My boyfriend always goes here to get his haircut. One day we stopped in & I thought I would get a quick pedi while he did. I guess they do hair, nails, pedis, and waxing. He's a regular there & he always makes appointments with Lily. She's super nice and she's probably the best with guys hair. The haircut my boyfriend gets last a good 30-45 mins, why? Because they cut the hair, wash the hair, massage the head, a brief back massage, and dry the head.. (it's one of the options for all of this) all that, for $10.99. Now I know why he goes here. Good job, good service. But I don't think she does nails... So, I got a pedi done with one of the other ladies. She was okay, but she was like vigorously filing my SKIN not my nail. It was painful. But the other part of the pedi was good. I got a french tip & it was exactly how I wanted it. Not too thin, not too thick! The staff is super friendly. The only downside is that it feels a little discriminatory, because they are ALWAYS speaking in their language. Hmph. But when you're done with your service, they grab your coat/jacket/hat or whatever else you had walked in with. Their customer service is good, they make you feel comfortable. Try this place out! A few of my female family members come here to get their haircuts. Whenever I see them and they've just gotten their hair cut, it has always been cute and seemingly well done. I really needed a trim and needed a place that didn't require me to make an appointment a week ahead of time so I decided to come here. Kim cut my hair and she did exactly what I needed her to do - cut my split ends and bangs so that they were no longer in my face! On top of that, I asked if she could wash it (my aunt had said they do wonderful scalp massages when they wash) and it was the best $2 I've spent in a while!!
