Kayla was probably the least friendly person to ever cut hair. Never introduced herself, never made eye contact, didn't ask any questions about me, didn't want to know anything more than how i wanted my hair cut. It was awkward and uncomfortable for the entire haircut. She perked up at the end when it was time to tip her. That's it. Definitely won't be going back to her. read more

I had a terrible experience at The Cut hair salon in Marlboro...The hair stylist who colored and cut my hair was not friendly at all and it made for a very awkward and uncomfortable experience..The stylist acted as if she was not very happy to be there and in fact after coloring my hair disappeared for about an hour..I was concerned as she was not careful even after I stressed to please not get dye on my skin...which as a professional she should have cleaned the areas on my skin where the dye was...clearly very uncaring and unprofessional..I was also confused when I requested lowlights she told me she could not it was better she just dyed my entire hair to rid the grays which was only in the front...no grays in the back as she concurred...Yet after she dyed my hair I questioned it again if I could have just got foil low lights then she contradicted herself and said she could have...This stylist did not even convey to the woman washing my hair to also add a color glaze..Ten minutes later a different woman approached behind the sink and proceeded to aggressively wash my hair and still left the dye on my skin..This hairstylist was most friendly at the end of the appointment and became animated as she was clearly looking to get tipped well..Inspite of the very poor unprofessional service I left a 20 percent tip which she clearly did not deserve..I still have dye along side my temple which I have been treating every day ..still stubborn so i am scheduled to see my dermatologist for help..I would definitely not recommend this salon and this hair stylist Kayla... read more

Not sure why there are so many mad reviews. I had a great experience. & i do not mind driving the hour to come get my hair done here for now on. The staff was [extremely] nice. Casey did my hair for me and boyyyyyyyyy did she do a damn good job. I went into the salon with a botched job. It looked terrible. After 5 hours in the salon my hair came out exactly how i wanted It. The hair colorist literally botched my hair around the hairline and the front pieces so bad. She literally put bleach on top of bleach. I gave her a few attempts to fix it and she kept making it worse- had no understanding of color theory whatsoever. When I asked if there was someone else available who can fix it she didn't try to find anyone. No sign of the manager- I was practically in tears. And she literally charged me for the partial highlight. Horrible etiquette let alone to a new customer. It was the worst hair salon experience ever. I can't believe this salon is still in business. I would highly recommend the Cut. I currently live in NYC but still come back to the Cut every time I need my hair done. The hair dressers are fantastic, and the prices are so reasonable it is a no brainier. Today Jasmine cut and ombred my hair, and did an absolutely amazing job. She was incredibly talented and professional. What I love is that she really took the time ask me questions throughout the way to make sure I got exactly what I wanted, and did not rush through any part of the process no matter how busy she was. This is my go to place. The staff is helpful, even able to take me on a short notice since my crazy schedule changes all the time. Arielle does and excellent job on my wife's hair as well as my own. Picking a good hair stylist is hard enough to find. Let alone getting a great one. I am extremely happy every time I leave The Cut. Even attempting a new style I was hesitant but Arielle was able to get done exactly what I wanted from just showing her a picture. Unprofessional. Had an apppointment place was empty except for clients waiting. Receptionist couldn't even tell me if my hairdresser was even there yet. Then after services was hit with a 25% increase in their prices. Receptionist did not tell clients when checking in that prices were raised. When I pointed to sign in salon with old prices she said they didn't have a chance to change the sign. Hair cutter said receptionist should have told me, receptionist told me owner should have told me. Everyone passing responsibility. Owner didn't even come over, didn't want to be bothered. I recently moved into the area and I have been looking for a local salon- well, this is not it! I got my hair done a few weeks back- a simple color and blunt trim. The hairstylist seemed to hate my guts from the minute i walked in. I was so uncomfortable the entire time, I just wanted to disappear!! The stylist was incredibly messy- she pretty much painted my hair with the color and then folded the colored hair onto my face (no clips nothing). Obviously, this left streaks of dye running down my face. Even the stylist next to mine looked horrified at what she was seeing. The price was definitely inexpensive, but I was annoyed to have to pay anything at all after being subject to that experience ! read more

When finding a new salon I tend to ask lots of questions and the girl I spoke to answered every single one. I wound up going to Chelsea for a highlight and color. Amazing! She explained she was trained in NYC which was music to my ears hailing from there to begin with! My color was absolutely beautiful, I receive compliments everywhere I go. The cut I got from Chelsea also impressed me. I keep my hair long and never want to cut it. With taking off my dead ends and giving me some layers not only is my hair sill long, but so bouncy!! I've been going to the cut for over 2 years. Last appointment was my last and final. My hair is so dark, nothing like what I asked for and I was there for 5 hours because "the receptionist over booked my stylist". The place is so unprofessional. Some of the stylists were vaping while waiting for clients! The stylist that does my hair seems extremely irritated the whole time. Laughing when she opened the foil to see the color of my hair. Doesn't even say hello when I first come in. The music they play is so so unprofessional. My friend even went in and the stylist was talking about me to another stylist said my name out loud and everything!! Then I was charged a ridiculous amount of money for basically dark brown hair. Just moved to this area a couple of months ago. Needed to find a local salon and was desperate to get my hair cut and colored since having my baby. My hair was a mess. Chelsea was awesome. She did a great job on my color. She listened to what I wanted and gave me suggestions. That is exactly what you want from a hairstylist. In addition she was super friendly and for me that is huge. It is so nice to be able to have a conversation when you are sitting in the chair for a couple of hours. Carolyn did a great job on my eyebrows. This was my first time at this salon. I have traveled far and wide in search of good hair stylists. From New York City's finest and most elite, to small-town hole in the wall. I have very long, thick, curly hair that take me an 1 1/2 to blow out or straighten. I was interested in keratin treatments so I made an appointment. I was very apprehensive and scared of ruining my hair since it is "virgin" or never chemically treated. I went to see Jasmine, who recommended that do the express brazilian blowout which lasts 1 month rather than 5. This girl looks super trendy with her glamed out makeup, rainbow hair, young, and confident. She was extremely knowledgeable not only about the service, but in suggesting future hair endeavors! I was given specific take home instructions which I was in complete compliance of. Still very apprehensive, I washed my hair hoping for a significantly reduced time spent on my hair. I did everything as instructed and the results are shocking... My hair took a half hour to straighten as it was already smoothed. I played around with different looks and realized that I could curl the bottoms! I AM LOVING THIS! Final Thoughts: If you want your styling time reduced in time and effort, GET THE BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT! I have come to The Cut many times and they have been both good and bad experiences (mostly bad). I'm writing this review because I've decided I'm no longer getting my hair cut/dyed by them. Some girls are great (I prefer Arielle and Jody) but others not so much. I have had my hair done by nicki twice now and both times she was a bit rude to me and my hair was completely different from what I want. This has also happened with a few other girls too. I told nicki to cut my hair short and that it is very curly however, I am doing this to be able to straighten my hair to try out a different look. I repeated myself a few times and she put in all these layers (another reason I went short is to rid all my layers...) and then kept saying if she thinned my hair/razored my hair, it would be frizzy (which she thinned and razored it anyway). I was disappointed she didn't listen I me, but I couldn't be too mad because a few of the girls have rushed through my haircut so I actually expect it if I go there. Unfortunately my hair is now too short to fix - so I have to let it grow out then cut it again. After two years of going, that was my last time read more

The blowout was fine but the hair dye process was completely rushed and I got highlights instead of ombré which was disappointing. I had an ok experience here, not bad, not great. It was my first time coming to The Cut; my sister has been coming here for a while and loves it, so I figured it was worth a shot. I didn't know any of the stylists' names or reputations, so I just asked for anyone for a simple haircut. No treatment, no blow-dry, just a little trim with some layers. The stylist I was given was named Lillian or Liliana, and I had given her simple instructions for my cut. I asked for a small trim at the ends, as well as some short layers throughout my hair. My hair is extremely thick and long, so I needed something to thin it out bit. However, the stylist refused to do what I had wanted. she said that the layers I requested would "look like a mullet". I specifically indicated how short I wanted the layers and it was no where near a mullet. She gave me a decent cut and I didn't leave hating my hair, but it definitely was not what I wanted, which was incredibly disappointing. I usually do not give a review of businesses that I do not frequent.i am bald LOL. But after my wife had a horrible experience at the Hair Lounge on route 79. Not getting into all the details thank God for the Ladies at the cut on route 520. They felt so bad for the job that my wife received. They took the hair extensions out and fixed the mess the other place made. I can only equate this to going for a bad tattoo and having a artist repair it. So let me start by saying that I am not one to normally write reviews but I wanted to share my experience. I've been going to super expensive high end salons for years and every time I walk out of the salon I am disappointed. I asked a coworker who does her hair and she sent me Kaceys information! I've only been to the cut salon twice but I will never let anyone else touch my hair again! Hadn't had my hair colored in about seven months and it looked absolutely horrible. I walked in , wanting a total change. I sat down in Kaceys chair showed her a picture of a completely different color and complete haircut chop ! She told me I would be there for a few hours but assured me that I would be leaving happy! Almost four hours later and I have never loved my hair more!!!! My color job was so beautifully done that now (four months later) I'm still getting compliments!! And let me add that that girl (very young girl might I add) gave me the best haircut and blow dry I have ever gotten. (Can't lie I was pretty nervous when she started cutting because she works pretty quickly) five minutes into the haircut I could tell she was a professional with those scissors ! So look no further! Rude and incompetent! I came for a walk in as they advertise all walk ins are welcomed and was turned away at the door even though they were not that busy. No smiles to welcome you, btw. So, that was a waste of my time. I made an appointment. Came in, said what I wanted in a cut. Stylist thought her suggestions would be better. Without me agreeing on her suggestions, she proceeded to cut the way she thought it would be better. It did not turn out to be better. Not only did I not like the cut itself since it wasn't appropriate for my hair type, but also I found out it had a one single long strand sticking out from where it was not supposed to. How can a stylist miss that is beyond me. Not even an amateur student would make a mistake like that. I came back for a fix. Guess what! She gave me an attitude and argued that nothing was wrong. Finally when she saw that piece, all she said was: " Oh, Yeah, let me fix that." Not even one word of an apology! Total waste of my time and horrible customer service. Ok, I'm not usually one to go around writing bad reviews for businesses that I don't like, but this one REALLY stood out to me. They seem to treat it more like a sorority house that does hair to bring in extra money than a real business. The whole thing just felt like an amateur act right from the get-go. No other customers in the whole place except the one getting their hair done, and I had to wait. Red flag! This happened on BOTH occasions that I was there. One of the times all I asked was for my hair to be buzzed off, all of it. Easy enough right? WRONG! I came home and actually had hairs sticking out around my ears and she actually even missed a patch on my head! The second time after my hair grew back I was getting a regular guy's haircut, came home to discover it was just an uneven, unacceptable amateur job. Never again. Maybe they're good with women's hair but they don't seem to know how to give a good men's haircut. Would never be able to recommend this place to someone. read more
