I have never done yoga and while I was interested and curious about meditation, I never committed to anything beyond an app. My wife did YogaCare's FULL CIRCLE program and was so impressed by her experience that she booked me into their URBAN MEDITATION RETREAT and essentially commanded that I was doing this. I am a cynical sarcastic person, and had a worry that this would be slow torture as I'd been sent 'under duress' -- I couldn't have been more wrong. What Candice and Ulises have built is a truly warm and welcoming community. One where a complete (out of shape and sedentary) novice like me felt absolutely comfortable and all doubt evaporated in seconds. This three-day experience was absolutely invigorating and eye-opening. Ulises' approach to meditation is grounded in the "real" world without sacrificing a profound sense of the spiritual. His openness and encouragement made the three days resonate and they continue to. All of this is done with no dogmatic right or wrong -- it is all presented with a 'just try it' sense that made it inclusive and all the more impactful. Our group was made up of a newbies like me, as well as a number of returning students -- they shared the same kind and open tone that Candice set. Over the course of the retreat, we did all manner of breathing exercises, deep meditation and some yoga movement. While the movement was wildly uncharted territory, I remained open and thoroughly appreciated it. A highlight for me was after a morning session of breathing and meditation, Ulises led us down Fulton Street to the bustling South Street Seaport to see if we could maintain a meditative consciousness while surrounded by the relentless chaos of New York City. I was a bit surprised how different it was than my first. Both equally good, but let's just say - scheduling that second session was probably the best decision I've made in a long time. First of all, Jessica begins each session in her office with a conversation. She'll talk to you about what led you to book an appointment with her, how you're doing between sessions, what's been bothering you, etc. and then come up with a plan of action for what to focus her (amazing) healing powers on during that session. With me, the first session (which was my first reiki session ever of any kind), it was like she just "knew" things about my past that there's no way she could have known. She's definitely intuitive as well, which is pretty freaking awesome - something I did not expect. It felt like she understood my pain on every level, and could relate to me and what I was going through, which made me feel at ease with her, before she even touched me. Talking to Jessica comes natural, in a way that sort of makes me feel like we go way back (even though we don't) - like I can tell her my deepest, darkest secrets, feelings and fears, knowing she won't judge me, but instead will lift me up, saying "okay, this is how we're going to fix this." My first session a few weeks ago was intense, in a good way. My whole body felt like it was on fire; like I was burning up. I literally felt things being "pulled" out of me, which is what she said she was doing... pulling out negative thoughts and feelings, and cutting the cord between me and past men in my life. Little did I know that was only the foundation for the "real work" to come. Jessica has magical hands. I don't know how, but she does. I could feel so many things that first session. She really worked with me on ridding my head and heart of many past loves, and heartbreak. Afterwards I felt lighter, and less anxious. So incredible. Jessica stayed with me for a few minutes after my session and texted me some books I should be reading, and made sure I was feeling okay. So sweet. Then tonight... wow, what an entirely different experience. I don't think I've ever felt more relaxed, than I did while on her table between the hours of 5:30pm and 6:30pm tonight. Yet again, she worked her magic on me. I felt lighter. I felt calm. I was so relaxed and in a complete state of meditation, that I literally saw images of men from my past pop up and voices telling me to say "bye," followed by their name. I mean, talk about liberating. Wow. At one point, I actually felt like I was floating. At another point, I got this vision of me on a river, in a kayak, just laying down on top of it, while letting the water do its thing. No paddling, no trying to be in control. Just letting the river (metaphor for universe?) do what it was supposed to. This is actually a memory I have from the past few years, when I've traveled. It's something I've actually done before, and is super relaxing to me. But, I hadn't even thought about this in forever, and all of a sudden, it was like I was having this amazing, semi-out-of-body experience watching myself float down this river. Tonight I also cried while Jess was working on healing me. I wasn't expecting to, it just happened, but wow, that's such a testament to how amazing she is. It's like my soul was on display and Jessica knew just what to do and say. After my session tonight, again, Jessica waited a little longer - even though she had a client right after me, she knew I was anxious about some things and stayed to make sure I was alright. That was a huge blessing to me in ways I can't even begin to describe here. She even texted me to follow up and ask if I'm okay. My experience has been that Jessica is kind, sweet, talented, funny, compassionate, understanding, experienced, and legit the real deal. She's amazing. I cannot wait for my next session. Healed from a distance!!…read more From the age of two, my son has been a frequent flyer to the ER with chronic respiratory issues. Living out of state and not knowing any healers in the area, I reached out to Rochele one night shortly after we had moved; my son was very sick. I explained how my son was coughing and having trouble breathing. She offered to send my son Reiki healing from a distance. Having wonderful experiences with Reiki healing myself, I always thought it was something that had to be done in person--boy, was I wrong! I was so impressed with Rochele's ability to calm my own nerves over the phone as peacefully guided me through the steps I needed to take in order to help calm my son. She immediately knew which chakras needed to be focused on and which crystals/colors would help improve his symptoms. She instructed me on where to place the items on and around him and provided me with a mantra to say. We got off the phone and she continued to send healing Reiki energy from miles away. Not only was I more relaxed and focused, but my son started to calm his breathing and only needed one breathing treatment as opposed to his usual 2-3!! I was astonished! I will never forget her patience, empathy, professionalism and abundant love through this experience. I have since then called upon her to send distance Reiki healing to my grandmother and her surgeons before open heart surgery and to my aunt battling stage 4 cancer--both are recovering and healing beautifully! I've done Reiki a couple of times before but never felt a huge difference. With Deborah, it was different. During the session, Deborah asked questions to understand my needs and concerns. She was positive and warm, and made me feel very comfortable. She also introduced me to flower essences, which I hadn't heard of prior. During the healing session, I yawned a lot (like I was releasing a lot of repressed energy!). Afterwards, I felt relaxed - it was clear that the session truly worked although it wasn't done in person, which I was a little nervous about at first. Deborah also quickly followed up after our session with additional information and promptly responded to a follow up question I had about flower essences. It's been four days since our session, and my chronic neck pain that I've had for 10 weeks is significantly better - in a way my chiropractor couldn't help.
