The spa feels luxurious, but not at all pretentious. Jenn is amazing. She was incredibly professional, but also friendly and approachable. It was by far the best massage I've ever had. I really appreciated the small touches, such as the heated table and the bolster pillow placed under my knees. Please folks - remember to tip your therapists well!! For you, the experience is a luxury (probably well-deserved, but still..). For your therapist, it's her/his livelihood. We went to the Urban Muse for my coworkers birthday and it was absolutely perfect. The ladies at the front desk had amazing hospitality and they greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. I got the hot stone massage and it was just what I needed. I chose to add the lavender scent to my massage and it enhanced the massage and my relaxation even more. My other two coworkers got facials, one was the Purity Facial and the person got the hydrofacial. Both of them raved about how amazing their services were and how great and knowledgeable the estheticians were. After the services we were able to shop around their amazing gift shop perfect for the holidays as they have so many things for everyone. To top it all the lovely ladies at the desk gave my coworker a birthday cupcake making her feel even more special. It's hard to find someone that actually delivers when you ask for firmer pressure, but Samantha did an AMAZING job and thoroughly worked through areas I stated were more sore. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I came in as a birthday gift for the Zen Ritual, which is a package of a one hour massage and a one hour facial. The overall atmosphere is laid back, calm and relaxing, and I felt welcomed from the moment that I walked in. Jamie was my masseuse. She used the perfect amount of pressure and focused on the areas that needed the most work. Maggie did my facial which left my skin glowing and baby soft- no redness! Since they knew it was my birthday, they gave me a complimentary cupcake and a card signed by all of the staff- so unexpected and sweet! As if that wasn't enough, I got a birthday card in the mail two days later from Jamie and Maggie with a 10% off coupon for my next visit. The Urban Muse went above and beyond to make me feel special on my birthday. Their care for their clients coupled with fantastic (and reasonably priced!) services sets this spa apart. I am short for words about Urban Muse at this moment. To start, my 60 minute Swedish massage with Somma was incredible. To go into why I am short for words, the backstory is I am a college student going through some very challenging times right now. I have been saving up money for a massage close to finals, and have been rather scatterbrained lately. I booked my appointment online, unbeknownst to me, for the wrong day. After talking to Sage at Urban Muse and breaking down recognizing that per policy, they would have to charge me for 50% of the service. Knowing this, I knew I didn't have enough money saved up to adequately tip for the service, and thus could not rebook for the following day. About half a hour later, Jeff, the manager reached out to me to explain that he was incredibly sorry for their policy, but would be happy to give me 50% off the service the next day, so everything came out to be the same price, and I had the money to tip. The kindness, compassion, and grace granted to me by both Jeff and Sage has me left speechless. I am forever grateful for their kindness during a challenging time for me. I highly, highly recommend Urban Muse! Their customer service is top notch, ambience is wonderful, and massage is the best I've ever had. read more

just now I had an amazing massage and facial and my wife loved her facial but did not like her prenatal massage at all. The host with dreadlocks was very rude to me when I asked for a different therapist which was totally uncalled for. From my experience I believe management of this business create a culture in which clients are not appreciated. To make it worse you leave feeling that they were bothered to even having had you there to begin with. There are some other great spas in Morris County that any of us can go to that truly appreciate the business of their clients. This is my first time here & the moment I walked in I felt relaxed. They first have you sit in a little room & get you tea or water & after a few minutes they come get you for your massage. I had the prenatal massage it was so relaxing. First I lied on my back with pillows behind my head & underneath my legs after she finished massaging my front she had me to turn to my side to get my back. Yeah, yeah, yeah-I'm reviewing another place that every guy in Morris County should get to know if you want to bring a smile to your lady's face. Let me start with the spa...in full disclosure, my comments are based on my wife's utter happiness when she she comes home from ANY of the spa treatments at the Urban Muse. Both she and my daughter have been there together and apparently the massages, body treatments and facials are HOT! I can't argue with the end product which is two beauties in my house in a totally relaxed state (at least until my son, my dogs, or I turn them back into raging crazies). Personally, for me (since I've never used the spa), the boutique is really awesome because you can get your lady friends anything from skin care products to candles to jewelry and there hundreds and hundreds of great products to choose from. Close your eyes, point a something, and buy it, because she'll love it. My wife absolutely loves this place...and it is SO easy to find her nice things here...when all else fails and I need a last minute gift...I can't go wrong with a gift certificate. This spa is pretty nice. You walk in they have a shop downstairs and the massage and relaxation room/s are upstairs. After they take you in, you can sit in there relaxation room and have some tea or water. The tea was rather good and got my stamp of approval. The fountain off the one wall adds to the serene environment. I had the surrender massage with Amber and she was really great. As said by d b. she is friendly but not chatty. As unsure about this as I was, she made me feel really comfortable. I would come back here without a second thought. As for parking, park around the corner, infront of the building is only 1 hour parking, if you make the first right, after you pass the place, that street is 2 hour parking. read more

Other than that, legs, bikini and underarms were fine, relatively painless. I was a little concerned when I was told she wasn't qualified to do Brazilians but able to do bikinis. Yikes. I had no idea what was in store for the Mrs when I booked a spa treatment for her bday. Sure in the front it seems small but that's so deceiving! UM is 2 floors of complete bliss. The front of the store sells trinkets, jewelry and accessories for the woman in your life. In the back and upstairs is heaven. *Her spa treatment of 75 minutes was well worth the price tag it came with. *They allowed me to go in the back to chill out and nosh on cookies, goodies and sip some lemon water while she received her massage (I declined but was able to enjoy it after she was done). *They don't rush you. My fiance and I recently went here for a couples massage and it was amazing. We had such a nice relaxing time. I had purchased the couples massage which included a hour long massage and dinner at a local restaurant, I highly recommend this, it was a fantastic deal. We arrived at the spa about 20 minutes early and were able to relax with some delicious tea and snacks in the very comfortable waiting area. Our massueses came out, introduced themselves and made us feel completely comfortable the entire time. After our massages, we showered in the steam shower and got ready for our dinner reservations at the Second Half on Main. I didn't feel at any time rushed for us to hurry up and get out. Everyone was extremely nice and accomodating. The shower was very well stocked with shampoo, conditioners, soaps, and a hair dryer. The dinner, which was included with the spa package we purchased, far exceeded my expectations. I anticipated a "prix-fix" menu of sorts with 1 glass of wine, however our meal included any bottle of wine off their wine list, salads, any entree from the menu and 2 desserts. Our table was ready for us when we got there and the service at Second Half on Main was fantastic. Our waitress took the time to go over what was included with our meal and the owner/manager even came over at one point to ask not only how our meal was going but also how we enjoyed our massages! I thought this was so great and thoughtful. Our entire afternoon/evening was great and my fiance and myself thouroughly enjoyed the experience and cannot wait to do it again. read more

Awesome! Just awesome! I went for the Muse Massage and it was just amazing! I think I may have even been so relaxed I fell asleep the last few minutes! It was a body massage and an extra scalp massage. The waiting area was nice and stocked with treats and really good tea. The massage room was the perfect temperature. The oils that were used smelled really good too! I used the shower before I left (after the scalp massage my hair looked like a crazy lady) and it was clean and well stocked too. Let me first say that this review is NOT for the spa. (I haven't used those services.) The store in the front part of the spa is amazingggg. Why hadn't I found this place sooner? Such great stuff, but I especially enjoyed all the fragrance oils, incense, and incense burners, etc. They also have amazing scents and soaps. I may have a slight obsession with home fragrances, so I was in heaven here. Their jewelry is also quite pretty. The feel and smell of this place made me feel happy and I can't wait to go back. Wonderful experience! I first spoke with Janet on the phone to book a massage for me and a friend and they were booked but she called me the next day when they had cancellations. She was so helpful and friendly. You enter in their lovely shop - they have a lot of very cool merchandise. The little zen lounge you wait in was comfortable and relaxing. They offer you Tea Forte teas and homemade goodies. My only wish here was that we could have changed into robes to enjoy this room/part of the experience. We had just been walking in the rain and it would have been nice to get into something dry and cozy. My massage therapist, Dee, was LOVELY. I got an hour swedish massage with a 30 minute reflexology add-on. Dee incorporates Reiki and energy healing into her massage which was appreciated. It did not take away from the massage at all but added to it when she spoke to me a bit after about the reiki portion. She was a pleasure to talk to. The massage itself was one of the best I have ever had. She made sure I was warm with heat packs on my back or front while she was working on legs or arms. For me, this is important because I am frequently cold and cannot enjoy a massage when I'm shivering. My favorite part was her work on my neck, face, and scalp. I find that these areas are hardly attended to in other massages but she focused some time here and it relieved stress and tension. The reflexology was like magic and put me to sleep! I was struggling to stay awake to fully enjoy it but it was so relaxing I felt like I was in a meditative state. I will definitely return! This is an amazing spa. read more

I went to Urban Muse for the first time last week based on the great reviews. I was late for my spa appointment because my GPS literally broke on me while I was driving. I had to call the spa and they gave me street by street directions. I was about 15 minutes late to my spa appointment but the receptionists were very kind and forgiving for my debacle. They didn't give me any attitude or rush me because I was late. I got the de-stress package (massage and facial) and after 3 hours, I was completely de-stressed! The waiting room had excellent snacks and they offered gourmet tea while you wait. The decor was tranquil with a little Eastern aesthetic touch. The space itself was clean and huge (2 floors)! Both masseuse and facialist were very professional and did an excellent job. No complaints. The price was about average price but the service made it feel like I was at a 5 star hotel. The Urban Muse tops my list as one of the absolute best spas I've had the pleasure of visiting. My first experience was after receiving the hands down worst massage of my life at a neighboring establishment. The therapist I was pared with(Jamie) at the urban muse took the time to listen to my needs and pain points and did an absolutely amazing job of undoing the damage done by the other place. I've seen her two additional times and she's nothing short of amazing! I'm heading in tomorrow for a facial and massage package and while I don't have Jamie tomorrow. She mentioned that everyone on staff is wonderful and highly accomplished in what they do. The gift shop is also wonderful. When I made my appointment the person was knowledgeable and helpful. Reserved a shower to steam prior to facial. Not your traditional spa set up but it worked, the steam is in the shower. Its not a place I would spend all day and spa because the set up is very small and limited. The relaxation area is very nice but the seating is uncomfortable. The tea they serve was delicious! I am late for this review, but finally have time! My experience was late June. I'm not completely sure what stars to give for this place. I was given a birthday surprise by my husband, he got the Mother-to-be package as I am pregnant and needed a MUCH deserved relaxation and a massage. The atmosphere/hospitality - Great and I give 5 stars! Staff - Awesome! The experience - Oh boy! This where I'm having trouble giving full stars. First I was taken in for a quick 30 min facial. (Not sure of lady that gave my facial, but she was a nice person). What happened wrong here was about 5 mins into my facial I was hearing a lot of bubbles popping from steamer, I didn't quite think of anything. But then HOT WATER splattered in my face!!! Not the greatest feeling to get sprayed with hot water instead of a calm steam! The lady was very upset about it. But I was MORE upset at the fact that the customer was NOT, I mean I wasNOT taken Importantly at this time. She made sure I was OK but moved on with the facial. I mean I just got HOT WATER sprayed on my face. And with my pregnancy I was already going through a skin hyper pigmentation reaction which made it cause even more red!!! Well she moved on with the facial and not even sure if I got my full time in. Next I was taken to the healing room to wait for my prenatal massage. This was actually a BETTER experience, the lady knew of the mishaps that happened with the facial and made sure my massage would make up for it. She was so concerning and awesome! Loved the prenatal massage. Now I am all done, and downstairs my husband is waiting, hoping I had the best time couple hours! No one informed him of what happened upstairs. When I came down, staff was concerned but not to a point where they'd do something different for me!!! Which was a sad because the package costs $200+ with tip! And my husband being so generous gave the tip ahead of time without knowing what the service would have been like!!!! He had to ASK HIMSELF if there would be anything done with total since it wasn't a full facial. Which was sad to ask. And the manager said a 10% discount would be given if I ever visited again. That's the other sad part, a card was sent to my home with a 10% discount coupon which i believe I would've received REGARDLESS to go back to their business. It wasn't anything nice that was done for me for burning my face!!! This is an EXPENSIVE place because it's located in Danville. But they are not concerned about their customers. read more

The staff was very friendly, and absolutely loved the ambiance... a modern, tranquil zen-like vibe. I have had the biggest knots on my shoulders/ neck area for the longest time and she was able to work the knotted areas with such strength, yet tender finess. I would definitely ask for her again.
