My annual tradition is going to The Crab Zone for my birthday. The Crab Zone is one of the original crab restaurants in Stockton before others started popping up here and there. I've tried most of them and they just can't match the creamy garlic butter sauce on the crab that The Crab Zone has perfected. I always order the Dungeness crab (garlic butter of course) and my daughter ordered the traditional and zesty, Spicy Cajun sauce. I have to say, the crabs were pretty good in size, very meaty and very tasty. We ordered the fried calamari for an appetizer which tasted freshly made. We both ordered the peach lemonade that had fresh pieces of chopped peaches in the drink. Very tasty. The crab comes with choices of corn, potatoes and sausage that you expect in a crab boil. The hot link sausage is my favorite. I also ordered a side order of the garlic noodles. I love garlic noodles but these are a little thin and dry and don't preserve as well when cooled down. I would love to try the shrimp, mussels and clams but the crab was more than enough. The service is spectacular. The owner is so nice. Her kindness makes her my secret crush....but let's just keep that between us. The ambience is trendy, sporty, divey -just perfect for the locals and regulars. They were playing a nice soundtrack and had the World Cup playing on the tv. While everything about The Crab Zone is spectacular - the Dungeness crab is a bit pricey. $250 was the price tag (not including tip) and about $40 more than last year. But no complaints because The Crab Zone is delicious. read more

To be honest, I haven't been here in years because I was never a fan of their seafood boil sauce. Saw their instagram recently and decided to give it a try again. Garlic noodles - 5/10 too plain. If they add the garlic sauce from the Cajun wings, that would definitely elevate the whole dish! Cajun wings - 7/10 it was good with the garlic sauce that's came on it Crawfish - 10/10 they were big and tasted fresh! Shrimp - 9/10 head on shrimps were really big! Lots of flavor. My only dislike was the sauce. Extremely too watery for my liking. The spice level is there, and the flavor is there in the boil water. I am more of a saucy, Cajun, garlicky person. Overall... To start with, the customer service was top tier! The door was opened for us upon arrival and we were escorted to our seats. We arrived just in time for happy hour and were definitely happy to partake in the 2 for $5.00 beers. We followed those with fresh made hand crafted soju cocktails which were absolutely delectable. Our server gave us just the right amount of attention checking on us and asking if we had any questions about the menu. We ended up ordering the house fried rice and combo number one. The portions were generous to say the least! The rice came with shrimp and bell peppers and deliciously garlicky. The combo came with shrimp, corn, potatoes, mussels and hot link. We chose the Cajun broth medium spice. We were pleasantly surprised by the presentation and so happy that it was not served in the bag that you usually see. Decent crab boil spot. The prices are decent here but could get expensive if you are looking to eat crab or something other than shrimp and crawfish. The sauce is decent. I am used to the thicker sauce at other places. This is more oily. The garlic noodles and wings were good. The seafood was really fresh. The crawfish were all fresh and not shriveled up/bad. The shrimp was not over cooked. The food all comes out in a bowl and you can share that. It was quiet inside but there are tons of tvs around to watch games. Service was good. Nowadays it's rare to receive good food and service. Come here and you'll receive both. I got the dungeness crab in garlic butter sauce. It was very good. This garlic butter sauce is creamy and very lightly sweet as opposed to a typical saltier sauce. Be aware of that. My husband mentioned wanting salt, but I couldn't hear him over me slurping and cracking down my deliciously fresh crab. The crab is clean! The crab is clean! That's if you want it to be. I swear places don't care to clean crab, but Crab Zone will. Now don't get me wrong, you will have to pay for what you're getting. My crab was $75, but it was a great treat. The crab zone is mid at best, and that's being generous. I remember when it was one of the only seafood boil spots in Stockton some years back, and I think that's what has kept them afloat all this time. In comparison to other seafood boil spots, I think they are just behind on the times. In my experience, they are more expensive than what I am used to, the sauce isn't nearly as good, and the options of sauce/flavoring are also quite limited. The seafood was fresh though I can admit that, I asked for live crawfish which they didn't have at the time but did have blue crayfish which is essentially the same thing. The best part about this spot is easily the service, the entire staff is very friendly and accommodating. read more

I used to love coming here when they first opened but as the years went by they lost their flavor. The shrimp was always overcooked and stuck to the shell and impossible to peel. The price of their seafood is insane compared to every Cajun spot I've been to and this is Stockton. Charging $22/lb for crawfish is crazy! My fave Cajun spot in Stockton, we come here at least once every 2 weeks. Food is always good and service is always quick. It's a mom/pop restaurant, the wife memorizes all the orders and always gets the order right. I love how their sauce blend for their boil isn't chunky and it's actually spicy! Service was good and we pre ordered for 745pm and came last minute as the place closes at 8 or 830. By the time we got there food came out quick. Hands down still the best house crab sauce I've had. Roasted garlic pieces with a creamy butter sauce. It comes with a small order of garlic noodles. Of course with a 5 you have to upgrade it to a large. This is definitely the reason I come here. If you're in the Stockton area, it's a must try! We also ordered crawfish, shrimp, and clams, spicy. I love their sauce for the boil. I actually mix it in with my garlic noodles and crab sauce. The fried platter was okay. Came out a little over cooked which is shrimp clams fries and other fried seafood. I don't order this anymore, but my sister did. First thing was I walked in we did not get greeted right away but I noticed the lady that seated us and took our order was standing there talking to the other customers instead of greeting us and telling us she'll be with us in a second. It wasn't that busy, I got there around 7pm. They had cute decorations and good music playing. Food came out quick. The sauce wasn't what I expected. I think boil wise this isn't my favorite spot. In town I would recommend Blazin Cajun & then Captain Crab buuuut I would rather drive to Sac for a good boil. The sauce I picked was something like a lemon herb sauce. There weren't any type of herbs in the sauce and I couldn't even taste the lemon. It just tasted like a sweet butter sauce. I would definitely recommend their garlic fries & banh Canh. Not sure how this place is a 3 star. The food and service was great. Fresh seafood is worth every penny. Crawfish, crab and clams were so fresh. Cons: they told me an item I ordered was not available after waiting for 10 minutes for my food (pre-ordered a lot of food). However, they substituted it w/ whatever I wanted and gave me extra. Came shortly after they opened at 3pm on a Monday. One other party there at this time. Service: nicest lady who runs the show solo. We ordered a good amount of items and she remembered it all without writing anything down. Friendly and quick service. Food: 1. Garlic noodles: couldn't taste the garlic and it was just kind of flavorless but the noodles was really good . I would give it 7/10. 2. Garlic fries had a generous amount of garlic and it was perfectly cooked. Wish they had the chopped garlic like this in the noodle dish... they have ketchup and ranch if you ask for it. 10/10. 3. Crawfish in medium Cajun sauce was 10/10. The size of crawfish was really good. We added hot links and corn. 4. Shrimp in mild iCajun sauce. The shrimps were large but slightly over cook from the piping hot sauce! I've had a lot of shrimp at other places and although their sauce is liquid style, I really liked it, 10/10. 5. Clams in herb sauce medium spicy was super flavorful. 10/10, next time I think getting shrimp in this sauce will be equally yummy! I haven't been here before but my boyfriend has been here but it's been years for him. So we decided to get a pound of shrimp, spicy lemon herb with Lava spice level, and some sesame chicken wings. As soon as we ate the sesame wings, they were so good! The sauce for the shrimp it was hot but wasn't hot enough for my boyfriend. The waitress later came by and asked how the food was. She was very attentive. She also told us that we could order double lava spice level thick sauce. So we decided to get another pound of shrimp togo. We came home and ate the double lava. First let me start by saying I arrive 20 minutes before they opened. I was greeting out side by one of the services. He had the staff open the fort for us and allowed me to come in and sit. The hostess came and took my order for my drink even though they had not open yet. I also packed my order and it was so delicious as the last time I ordered it. Now keep in mind I live in Manteca and I tried the Cajun shop in my town but it does not meat to the crab zone quality of taste. So I made the drive to Stockton to get my crab fix. The staff is all so super friendly. I went alone and felt so comfortable in my environment. The hostess even charged my phone for me as my battery had died. Both the server and hostess came and checked up on just enough but not to much to where it was annoying. I took my left overs to my sister and she also loved it. Unassuming from the outside, but man was the food amazing! We had the appetizer sampler platter (garlic fries, fried shrimp, calamari), plus hush puppies and sweet potato fries for starters, all of which were perfectly fried crispy on the outside, came with ample dipping sauces and great flavor. Our main course was the whole crab drenched in garlic butter served with a side of garlic noodles. It was absolutely cooked to perfection, flavorful and a delightful mess to eat! Bibs required!
