I have been here a couple of times already, but today I ordered takeout. There was no one else waiting and I was greeted right as I walked in. They took my order at the bar and had my food out in around 20 minutes. Today was pretty crowded, but I didn't expect anything different as they normal have a good amount of people up until the last hour or two. Came here for dinner while visiting from Cali! I was very impressed by the taste and quality of food. They had lots of options to choose from. I particularly loved that you can get half pounds of a certain item and the bags already come with potatoes, sausage, and corn. Something you have to pay for individually in Cali. I used to go to this restaurant almost every other weekend , and it used to be so good. Felt like it was better than any other seafood restaurant but now the bags are not the same. The Waiter tried her best to be so nice about everything but it took my friend so long to get her food after it was wrote up wrong she got her food by the time the table was ready to leave. The restaurant just opened a couple days ago. Stopped today for lunch. Was seated immediately. Hostess and servers nice & attentive. This place is very similar to The Juicy Crab in Atlanta and The Boiling Crab in LA. We started with the calamari basket. Big thick calamari rings and thick crispy batter with the boom boom sauce. Very good. Then we had no head shrimp in the house seasoning and medium spice plus extra corn. Very good, seasoned well, just the right amount of kick. The kids had chicken finger baskets which came with 2 extra large fingers and lots of fries. Everything was delicious. We will definitely frequent this place. read more

Upon arrival we enter and a young lady (employee) saw us and walked right pass us. We thought she was getting us a table. She never returned. Then, the gentleman at the bar saw us, he did nothing. One kitchen staff was friendly offered us a menu and left (but we already knew what we wanted). We waited a few minutes more still nothing..... we left. This was my first time coming to this location. The bathroom had tissue, soap and papers towel however it could've been cleaner. There was 3 stalls which is ok for this size restaurant. This is not the location for a date on Friday. Reason being the music is very loud and there is a live DJ who talks over the music selling god knows what lol. So if your on a date go else where so you guys can talk and enjoy each other. UPDATE: the live DJ is not during the week. Now if you want the club vibe, and good food come on down. The music isn't bad and neither is the food. I had the fried shrimp and fries which was good. Our waitress Brittany was very good. The bartender isn't the best. My girl and I come here every now and again, and the service and food is typically ok. Today I came on my birthday to get some food and was highly disappointed. My girlfriend ordered the crab boil and the crab legs were not good at all. They were very undercooked and the meat was tough. We told our waitress and she said she would speak with her manager. She comes back and simply states that the crab legs come from a different provider and they are cooked the same way. Manager didn't even bother to come out and we were given no other options and not so much as an apology. Frankly, I'm highly disappointed. We checked in and a young hostess told us my party was seated here. There was a table of people whom we did not know. We told her and she said to wait a moment. This baby was pretty young and very flustered with all the movement. She was overwhelmed. Waited about 20 minutes since I had 3-4 guest that hadn't made it and the shit show began. Asked about the table again and was told several things by different hostess. 1. Another party stole my tables and they are sorry. 2. We were not here by 7:30p so we cant be seated. 3. Wait a moment and let them find us a spot. The manager had the different kids coming to speak to me but not once did she come address us. One of my guest had called to let them know that she was in route because they couldn't reach me. (so they said I was not there either lol even though they had been speaking with me an 45 minutes by this point). She did this bcus I told her they wouldn't sit us without all of us being present in my bday invitation text. We spoke to several servers and they all just saying different things. One server asked me to step outside and she explained as best she could what she felt happened and said she was sorry. We all go back in and by the time we get back to the hostess counter she says "They told me to tell you that we will not be seating you tonight" OMFG. I have made everyone drive over an hour to get here to repeat to this grand experience I been bragging out only for them to hand me there ass to kiss on my bday in front of everyone. The manager Tomille looking from afar as the kids run back and forth to her for guidance. I was sooooo embarrassed but also disappointed in the management and how this entire ordeal was handled. We all stood outside in the damn cold searching calling places that would take a party of 15 at 9pm. Seasons 52 on 280 was my saving grace. My friend DeCorey apologized to me as well but I was more happy that he was held up and couldn't make it as his drive was the furthest of us all. This experience shaped how the rest of my evening went. No celebration was had at all just a huge discussion on what we had experienced here. This review is for the Anniston, AL location. *Food - Great! We were served within 5 minutes after ordering. I got the fried shrimp & fried calamari, both were excellent! The place is clean and well taken care of. *Atmosphere- HORRID. The employees are very very loud, laughing and singing. They were playing pop/rap music over the speakers and some of the songs were very vulgar, not family friendly, and just inappropriate for a restaurant setting. I felt like I was in a club & I'm glad I didn't bring my 7 year old with us. The employees were dancing and twerking in the front of the restaurant, visible to almost everyone dining. So this is why I gave it a 3 star. Had the Atmosphere been better, I would have gave it a 5 star. It just needs more professionalism. The seafood bags are my favorite thing to get here. I first had this seafood in a bag concept in a popular Atlanta restaurant. Although that one is some what better, The Crab Barrack is a great addition to the area. The service is usually good and a fun atmosphere of you catch karaoke night. They do have a bar but we haven't tried any alcoholic beverages when we have been. I do recommend Crab Barrack and you must try your fab seafood steamed in the bag. Their mild seasoning is bland to me. If you want a little kick you have to go for the hit seasoning. read more

I was/am actually reserving full judgment... the food my party had was cooked to perfection... wings, head off shrimp, calamari, etc... however, the seasoning left a lot to be desired. I asked for the house special sauce hot but it tasted mostly like plain butter on shrimp that wasn't seasoned very well. It was cooked right but the lack of seasoning was stark... it was an opening night so maybe they hadn't gotten things down quite yet but I was already disappointed not to be able to try the crab or oysters. The calamari was fried and seasoned better and according to my table mate, the fried tilapia was also pretty good. However, the wings were also not seasoned. We asked for lemon pepper but they tasted like they only poured the house special butter sauce over them because they were so greasy and served in what looked like a puddle of butter. I will give them time before I go try the crab legs to get a better handle on things. I will say that the service was really good and our hostess and server did all they could to make sure we had a great first time experience. Also, management milled around asking for feedback and making sure all was well with the service. I was surprised the food quality was not better considering the small crowd and limited menu. Visited The Crab Barrack on 10/8/19 with out of town friends. The outside looks a little sketchy, but once inside, it was very nice and smelled AMAZING! Our server was N'Kosi who was informative, friendly, and very attentive. We all had boils in a bag with the king crab. House seasoning is DELICIOUS! Would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. We came from Homewood, so it was about 12 miles. Well worth the drive. I'm looking forward to visiting again. read more

I have been a number of times (at least maybe 8 or so) since they have opened and I always find something new I am unhappy with. For the most part, it's the experience. It's very loud, sometimes the employees are not friendly, and I have witnessed a verbal altercation. Now again, the food is amazing. That is why I continue to visit. So if you don't really care about the things listed about, definitely give them a try. The sauces are very flavorful and all of their seafood is very tasty.
