Squid ink pasta
Steve H.

Found this place on yelp and glad I stopped in. It did live up to its name being cozy what shined was the great service from the bartenders and the amazing food. Ordered the cedar plank salmon and the squid ink pasta. The salmon was good and had great flavor from the cedar. The squid ink pasta was delicious and not what I had expected. A lighter pasta with a vinaigrette base that was so good mixed with the peppers, onions and garlic. Just full of flavor!

Another wonderful evening at Cozy Taberna. If you haven't tried one of their Spirt tasting nights I highly recommend it. Tonight was a tasting for Milagro Tequila. Louis, the rep, came up from Southern California and was a gracious ambassador. Bill, the proprietor of Cozy Taberna, acted as our host for the evening. The executive chef prepared a delicious tasting menu. We worked our way through 4 different varieties of tequila while Louis gave us the ins and outs of the process to grow and distill tequila. Overall this was another wonderful experience.

Great flavor for the price, the bartender was really helpful to choose the right beer.

We were visiting our son who has just moved to the Salem area, and we had a week to check out the restaurants. Cozy Taberna was our best dining overall in Salem. They are serving up Spanish inspired tapas small plates, with some large plates as well. Prices were on par compared to what we spend at home. We had a reservation at the chefs counter, and so we were able to watch all the food being prepared and served. Tons of scallops and salmon a plank were served! We did not have either of those dishes, or the burger, which looked outstanding. We enjoyed the Patatas bravas and bacon wrapped dates to start. The dates were deliciously smoky! Pasta with squid ink pasta was tasty as well, but perhaps a notch too salty for my personal taste. Service, coursing and timing were great along with a very nice waitress. We did engage a little with the chefs, but there was no welcome when we sat down. The place was hopping so we did not want to bother them much. Usually when we sit at a chefs counter it is a more welcoming , interactive and engaging experience. We will absolutely be back here on our next visit to Salem

None in ribeye is flawless.

Lots to love here. The shared bone-in ribeye is my favorite, although there are many glorious items on their menu. It's changed hands a couple times since opening and the staff sometimes seems overwhelmed but I think they are going their best.

The Cozy Taberna's entrance is in alleyway. We loved the Cedar Plank Salmon - smokey, perfectly seasoned and moist. We also liked the Pork Chops - also perfectly seasoned and moist. The Peach Blossom Kombucha was an excellent accompaniment to these entrees. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

Charcuterie board with amazing elements

My father and I had to come to Salem from the coast for my surgery, and we were fortunate enough to find The Cozy Taberna for my "last supper" last evening. We did not have a reservation, but they were kind enough to find us space at the bar, where our server, and one of the best bartenders my father and I had ever experienced (across Las Vegas, Dallas, TX, New Orleans and many other destinations, including International ones) -thank you, Taylor for your excellent and very patient assistance. He ordered the Vieux Carré cocktail and the presentation alone was sublime. Sangria Roja was delicious and fresh as well. We decided to split the charcuterie board, as we weren't particularly hungry (but everything on the menu looked delicious and well thought out, kudos to the Exec Chef). Every single element on the charcuterie board from the Marcona almonds, the fresh honeycomb, the terrine was stellar, the cheeses were all delightful, however the standout to us was the bleu cheese (it was gorgeous with an almond dipped in honey or as a standalone) You really cannot go wrong with anything you order here. You can tell from the design choices, the thoughtful seasonal menu, the extremely creative bar program and the well trained staff-this is a gem in Salem. We'll be back with more people (and a reservation) next time. *PS-my surgeon and the clinical staff all stated this is a favorite spot for them as locals and that Salem is fortunate to have this spot, I agree. Thank you for making an anxious evening into a lovely experience.

Warm olives and salty almonds

Tucked in a little alley in Salem, Cozy Taberna lives up to its name with a warm, inviting atmosphere and an open kitchen that makes the dining experience feel personal and interactive. We were lucky to sit at the chef's seating area, which gave us a front-row view of the action in the kitchen, a real treat if you enjoy watching dishes come together in real time. We started with a simple but delicious combo: warm olives and salted almonds. Both were thoughtfully seasoned and served warm, a detail that made them feel extra comforting. I only managed to get photos of these two before we got swept up in the rest of the meal! The goat dumplings in arrabbiata sauce were unexpected, more like tender pockets of goat cheese cooked in hot water than traditional dumplings wrapped in dough but still flavorful with a pleasant kick from the sauce. The seared scallop was one of my favorites, perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. We also tried the patatas bravas, which were just okay for me, but a must-have according to my son. The meatballs, however, were a hit with my partner and son. We ended on a high note with the molten chocolate cake, which was absolutely to die for, warm, gooey, and rich with every bite. Pure molten deliciousness! If you're looking for a spot with great food, a cozy ambiance, and a bit of a hidden-gem feel, Cozy Taberna is well worth a visit

We've been here a handful of times now, and it never disappoints. The service is always friendly and attentive. The food is consistently delicious. Artfully crafted cocktails (best G&Ts ever!) It's one of those places you can rely on for a great meal and a great experience. Definitely gotta try the goat cheese dumplings! Highly recommended!

Nestled in downtown Salem, Cozy Taberna truly lives up to its name with a welcoming atmosphere and lively energy. All of the happy guests sets the stage for a great experience, and its no wonder locals recommend the cedar plank salmon. During my visit, I decided to try the Charcuterie Board. The presentation was on point, though I did find the portion a little small for the price. Still, a great spot for gathering with friends or enjoying a casual evening out. If you're looking for good food and a vibrant setting, is worth checking out!

You choose what you want and order at the counter and they give you a number. Then they'll bring it to your table. I enjoyed the rice bowl. The tofu seemed to be fried and the sauce on it was spicy. The miso Moon coffee thankfully did not taste like miso, lol. My friend had an espresso and said it was terrible, very sour. Everyone else at our table seemed to enjoy our food, there were a lot of burgers and fries being ordered at the group. They have my daughter's favorite sort of salad, with blue cheese and steak. Albondigas Boquerones…read more Patatas bravas Caprese Caesar Old fashioned Penicillin Dirty martini Bloody wanker First drop in for the wife and I after discovering and hearing about this establishment taking over from the previous bar. First impression walking in was much better than the previous spot. Pintxos staff skips the bombastic side eye upon entry and actually greets you whether you're new or a regular. Seems like the bare minimum, but surprisingly nowadays, you don't see it consistently enough. Kudos! The main bartender was friendly and welcoming, and helped us out with the menus and let us peruse a bit. The owner was nice and friendly as well. Their bar staff was attentive in general. The drinks were solid and the food was good. The albondigas were a little too salty for my liking, but the flavor was there. They seem to care about the product they're putting out to serve their patrons, so that is definitely appreciated. Check it out and support them. They seem like cool people and the food and drinks? We came in for brunch and the Breakfast Sally (their breakfast salad) was hands down one of the best brunch dishes I've had. Unexpected, perfectly balanced, and something I'd come back for specifically. Cocktails were just as strong--the Mambo #6 was a standout, and my boyfriend loved both his old fashioned and the breakfast skillet. Everything felt thoughtful without being overdone. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in Salem.
