The menu is quite creative but unfortunately isn't prepared with skill. My dish was fresh local scallops. Just in case I especially asked to make sure the scallops were slightly undercooked as any talented chef would do. When they arrived they were completely overcooked. Beautiful seafood completely ruined. The most expensive scallops I ever ordered in a restaurant ($40) and the worst preparation. read more

This is the best restaurant on the Vineyard this year, no question. It's new, so still working out kinks, but nowhere can match the creativity of the food. We've eaten here several times and have a few favorites. The Porterhouse for two is tender and hugely flavorful, and the Carolina rice with summer squash was piquant and earthy. The fluke, perfectly cooked, offered unexpected flavors but was simply wonderful and the pickled oysters were new to me, but I am now a fan. I confess I love dessert and have to keep myself on a short lead in this department, but the honey cake was so special it is a must. This is a busy place and reservations can be tricky. Persistence is key. If mid week is an option stop in, they hold tables for walk ins. The food is worth the effort! read more

Love it and their sister Port Hunter- as good as it gets in E town!

The Courtney brothers have done it again. The Covington is a bit more grown up and refined but maintains the comfortable inviting feel that The Port Hunter has across the street. Chef Chris Fischer seems to be coming into his own by taking his Vineyard farm to table approach and kicking it up a notch with layers of flavor that really highlight his ingredients, something that was missing from his previous endeavors. We loved the pickled oyster crostini, the Short Ribs over rice grits, and the pork ragu. The honey pie was a pleasant surprise for desert as well. We will be back for sure! read more

Looking forward to next year, when it's a deli again. Ordered duck and wild rice; got a plate of sticky white rice and reconstituted duck "confit," and hot peppers. Lots of hot peppers. We had a lovely dinner last summer and were pleasantly surprised that the Covington has only improved this year. The ambiance --,we ate outside under the pergola-- was perfect for a summer evening and was matched by the friendly and efficient service. While everything was very good the squid ink pasta was really extraordinary (as was the special gin cocktail). Of note was the hostess who was truly welcoming and tried to accommodate as much as possible. We will be back (this week) and hopefully for years to come. read more

This restaurant is a gem, fantastic food and service--my two kids and I ate there on our Cape Cod adventure and truly loved each of our meals--the seared yellowtail on braised greens was amazingly delicious and would be a huge hit in Los Angeles. There is none of that snobby feel here either, as compared to its sister restaurant across the street. Very nice and reasonable wine list as well. Highest recommendation. read more

The staff was so inviting and knowledgeable all going out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful experience. The three of us did a sampling of small plates and pastas. The top three dishes for us were the Basil Pesto Fettuccini, the Tuna Tartare, and the Squid Ink Pasta. We will definitely return! read more

The Covington is an impressive new Edgartown spot created by the Courtney brothers and principal chef Chris Fischer. Pretty, elegant room and sophisticated food, it's immediately among the best on the Vineyard. We had a private party there and everyone loved the meal. Don't miss the pickled oyster crostini, poached lobster and the desserts--honey pie and strawberry shortcake. Pastas and risotto are beautifully done and creative. We're lucky that Chris has finished his cook book, which won a James Beard award, and is cooking again. The Vineyard restaurant scene just took a big step upward. Oh yes, and the wait staff is young, attractive, energetic and enthusiastic. What could be better? read more

I ate at the Covington for my birthday. I can't wait to go back. I wanted to eat everything on the menu. It is like no other place on the island in that you have original food that fills you up without weighing you down. I felt as if I were in a high end NYC eatery. We ate the beets, broccoli dish, duck, olives, shaved salad, squid ink pasta, smoked bluefish, and all the dessert offerings. I loved that we could have a bite of all these delicious dishes and get some real variety. Don't be intimidated by the menu because they have crowd pleasers like clams and pasta. Overrated. Menu is interesting but limited. Lots of local ingredients, but pretty limited on seafood. Indoor dining is very loud, hard to hear across the table. Service was slow. This is a welcome addition to the Edgartown dining scene. The food is locally sourced, the dishes are creative, and the menu changes often. The Covington is a little less casual and bar-like than the Port Hunter across the street. I would characterize my experiences at Covington as positive overall, but the pieces I haven't been as impressed by are the small portion sizes (especially given the high prices), the fact that one has to order and pay for bread to start and the service, which can be slow at times. read more

Over the summer of 2017 we had dinner here a dozen times. Obviously, there was a reason we were going back. Exquisite food, beautifully prepared and presented by an experienced wait staff. Just want to start by saying- my husband and I really consider ourself "foodies." Came for our 1year anniversary dinner when staying on MV. SO GOOD that we went back a second time lol. The "Katama in the afternoon" was THE BEST drink on the menu for sure. My husband also had the "bend in the road" and he loved it too. For starters we had the mermaid farm whipped feta and then the shishitos the next time. Both so delicious and flavorful. The first night I had the braised lamb pasta. It was outstanding. The next time I had the mushroom Ragu which was also out of this world. My favorite dessert was the honey pie. We had it both nights there ‍ Also- the pricing of the place is very fair considering the quality of the food you're getting. It's truly crafted with so much thought-which is clear when you taste it. I sincerely wish I could transport this place a tad closer to home so we could go more frequently. Anyone visiting MV has to go check it out! read more

We loved The Covington! This was our second visit, and everything was fantastic from the service to the food. Our waitress was great with suggestions. Everything was delicious from the appetizers (the beets, bluefish, olives and mussles were amazing)to the entrees- the sea bass and clam fettuccine- were both incredible-yum! The Covington is a nice addition to the Edgartown dining scene. A bit more upscale than its sister restaurant across the street, The Port Hunter, but great food and fun hip atmosphere. This place more for adults than with all the kids. The crudo was fresh and great, the special lobster pasta was just as described, a light summer pasta, and the duck was a great interesting dish. The bar is a fun casual spot but not loud and crowded. The outdoor tables offer a view of the street scene going on around town. Great new addition, worth the trip. read more

Waited until off season for our return to this new spot on Edgartown Main Street. Our first visit was just after opening. We were impressed first time and even more impressed upon return. Everything fine tuned to perfection. Shared the porterhouse with another in our party and cooked to perfection and loved the herb butter--had enough left for dinner the next night! Others had fresh pasta and lobster dish and fish special--clean plates all around. Highly recommend sharing salad and/or appetizers too--unique and delicious. We had arugula salad, beet salad and fresh off the vine tomato appetizer. Closing Octoberr 15 so get there while you can. read more

My mom and I flew over from Boston just to try Chris Fischer's new restaurant. I am a huge fan and love his simple, straighforward approach to only the freshest ingredients. He did not disappoint. We had ceviche so fresh and light it tasted like a cloud. Also loved the oyster crostini!! My entree was a fresh pasta with pork ragu. Our waiter was fantastic and very knowledgable - he explained the pork was from Chris' family farm. It was so flavorful and so perfectly seasoned - I ate every bite. His cookbook reads like a love story - love of the food, love of his farm and the island- and watching him at work in the kitchen was a treat!! Meeting Chris and experiencing the Covingon was truly delightful. Can't wait to go back and try the fresh fish! read more

We truly enjoyed our dinning experience! The food was beyond delicious! It was fresh and healthy and so very tasty! We had the arugula and mushroom salad; perfect light pre-meal salad. The shaved veggie with ceaser salad; super yummy!! And my husband and I split the porterhouse for two. Talk about melt in your mouth steak! And the roasted potatoes and carrots were perfectly prepared. We left feeling satisfied, but not with that heavy feeling of having too much junk. It was a meal that was simple yet delicious! This place has a long way to go before it meets the standard set at it's sister restaurant across the street. The ceviche was filled with cukes and tomatoes and not much else. The Caesar salad was dull and, four dry pieces of bread cost $3. The rolatini with clams and fennel had no taste, rubbery clams and no fennel! The Pork Ragu was flat; the service inexperienced and tentative. On a positive note, the small portion of short rib was moist and the broccolini salad interesting; the wine list was good. Desserts were also disappointing. This restaurant was expensive, even for Edgartown and was not worth it. read more
