If I took an unbiased view of The Coug, it probably would be 3.5 stars. The food is typical pub food, the place is grungy, and service is OK. However, given the fact that I spent more than one drunken night at this place in college (actual number minimized to protect my reputation), I have to give it 5 stars accounting for nostalgia. One has to appreciate that this is a divey place, with loads of character, a great craft beer selection along with drinks that will get you f'ed up should you choose. A timeless college bar (90 years!) that I have to go back to any time I'm in Pullman.

Good food, great service, ambiance is also real unique. Place is a little small, bathroom is not private, and music isn't played unless someone pays. I enjoyed my time there and would recommend to others but there are a few things they could do to improve such as things I mentioned.

On our way home from Lewiston and was really craving a cheeseburger. It was Thanksgiving weekend and not much was open as far as small mom & pop places. Used my handy dandy Yelp app and found The Coug. It's a divey bar, rightly so just outside the WSU campus. One gal working the place and as the cook also. Orders came fast and the burgers were nice and hot. The beer was cold and the TV's were on with football. Cool place to just hang out, love the college history on the walls!

I finally made it here for lunch. It was pretty good. I had a Bacon Cheeseburger with Avocado and Fries. The bacon was peppered and flavorful. The fries were seasoned and warm. The bun was TOASTED! Everything was delicious. One personal little disappointment I had was getting the burger and seeing it was American cheese. I wish every restaurant that serves American cheese burgers would state that on the menu. American cheese is not cheese. This burger was still delicious despite the American cheese. I would go back and I would recommend this place to others. Accessibility: This restaurant is NOT accessible. NOT at all. Yes, one side of the patio does not have stairs. However, there is no seating that is not a tall table with a stool seat. At night, on game days, and on the weekends, this place is extremely busy, so be aware of noise and drunkenness levels.

The Coug is a legendary college-town restaurant/pub that you must experience if ever in Pullman! If the walls could only talk...the stories of what went on in there would be endlessly entertaining. Those of us from the early 80's were lucky enough to play Asteroids and Pac-Man while enjoying a cold, frosty Rainier Beer or Falstaff. So many fun and cherished memories of all the great Cougars who gathered there and still do. Go Cougs!

Burger and fries for a bargain!

The Coug is a very chill place to hang out. The atmosphere is just very laid back and refreshing. The walls are covered with cougar writings and signatures which give it that much more character. I tend to frequent the Coug a lot on Tuesdays whilst taking advantage of their burger and fry for $2.50 deal. The people working are usually funny and sociable which makes the visit all the more pleasant. They only have beer and cider on tap but I read an article in the Daily Evergreen about expanding their offerings but that hasn't happened to my knowledge yet. It's just a great place to talk and have a drink. Ideal for starting or ending a night. Warm-up, cool-down style. It's definitely one of my favorites. They also have trivia on Sunday that I hope to make sometime in the future!

Some of the most eclectic walls here. Love finding names you know!

So you pivot walk up and order to-go instead of waiting for the 1+ wait due to the group size. Now I had Sydney (no badge so this is how I'll spell her name) was awesome grabbed a ordering pad took my order: pulled pork Mac n cheese, prime rib dip, x2 seared salmon, mushroom burger and a blue cheese chicken salad...oh and some bbq chicken wings too! She said give us 30 minutes and 30 minutes on the nose, I had food in hand and out the door! No pictures from this order since food in to go boxes are not that sexy and I had hangry diabetes in this group so maybe on our next visit. Food was awesome as usual and was extra special because we're celebrating our Coug! GO COUGS! And thanks to South Fork for always being a great place to be and have a nice meal.

Their menu offers a wide variety of delicious food and a full bar. We happily ordered and shared some favorites: a rib eye served with garlic mashed potatoes, a cheesesteak sandwich with fries, and some tasty lettuce wraps. We were all quite pleased with our dishes, and I really loved how flavorful everything was! The service was friendly and attentive, making our experience even more enjoyable. I'm already looking forward to returning soon for another wonderful meal at this welcoming spot!

Took my daughter and some friends here on a Tuesday night. Very few customers (3 tables full…read moremaybe). 5 of us ordered and my daughter's wings came out 20 minutes before everything else when she clearly ordered them as an entree. The rest of the food took about 35-40 minutes to come out when there was literally no one there. Also, the food we ordered was simple to get out in a fairly timely manner (Club sandwich, bruschetta, Mac and cheese, and Caesar salad). The menu is weirdly specific in some instances and not specific at all in others. Ex: wings come in mild, buffalo, and spicy, but one would assume the buffalo is a sauce but the mild was a dry rub (would be nice to know but not stated). Ex: Caesar is $14 and you can add "grilled" chicken, shrimp, or salmon for an extra $5 (in the case of chicken). My "grilled" chicken came out in cold chunks that looked like they had been rebought and kept cold then just dumped in the salad. When u order an entree salad and they say "grilled" chicken one would assume it's been freshly grilled for dinner, not just a salad that I could get in the deli aisle at a supermarket. Just an overall weird dinner for the price we paid. Service was friendly enough but sparse. Food tasted decent enough but when going out to eat I'd like to pay for more attention to the food than what I could put together with what I bought on my Costco run. Maple Manhattan was a solid drink though. Overall, not a 1 bc the taste was ok, but the rest was super underwhelming for what else is available in Pullman. Probably won't be back.

They give you a bowl of kettle chips when seated which was delicious. We were served quickly, and I ordered a house made seltzer that I believe was huckleberry flavor. It was interesting that it was made in-house but it had a weird after taste to me. We got the Turkey Club as well as their Cougar Gold Mac and Cheese. Both were delicious and I loved both dishes. I enjoyed how the Mac and cheese came with the side salad too, or you can have kettle chips or a soup. Salad was a great choice with the Mac and cheese. Overall I would definitely come back for the food as it was delicious. Ps- They also give SEL workers a small discount which is great!
