Went there for CFS and had 1 hour wait for a bacon cheese burger with fries. Only to receive a PLAIN burger and a small handful of fries. Owner should really understand business and open up the downstairs area and have more workers at 1 PM on a CFS. Pretty hard to mess up that order unless you're a low IQ individual. read more

Honestly a horrible bar with lackluster food and very questionable service. Came in with my wife the other day and some of the servers and management are just flat out rude, and the food was pretty mediocre. The bacon cheese fries really stood out to me as my wife ordered them and they were soggy as could be, and the bacon had a very interesting/unsettling taste. The place honestly needs revamped and in places feels somewhat dirty. I can say for sure I won't be taking myself or any family back, and I would recommend the same for any person looking for a drink and the same for a family wanting a bite to eat. Good atmosphere, upstairs allows for more of a chill vibe with darts and TVs, and downstairs has. a DJ and is more of a nightclub vibe. However, they promote inconsistent deals and hours. This is frustrating when expecting deals, which are advertised, and are not honored. I will say they have the best wings and fries in town. Valhalla has received BEST OVERALL BAR 2007-2010, voted by students campus wide by students. This title is presented and backed by the student newspaper The Daily Evergreen. I will tell you right off that Valhalla is what I would consider the epitome of college bars. They have everything from a full menu to a DJ with a fully engaged dancefloor. They have rock bottom prices but do not skimp on quality. 99% of the customers are college students and they cater to their financial and social needs. I can say a bunch about the food menu, but one thing I do want to mention is that Valhalla has the best Hot Wings in town. They have over 10 different sauces to choose from, all of which are unique and interesting. If you want to see what that's all about, come check them out on Wednesday Nights at 9pm...but get there early, it gets packed! read more

Other than the typically loud atmosphere during the weekends at the downstairs and upstairs areas, I enjoy the stereotypical college bar feeling that I get when I walk in. The food itself is very decent and I highly recommend their deep fried macaroni and cheese. If you are vegetarian coming into this place, they do accommodate other meat burgers with a typical garden patty which opens much more options than just the garden burger. However, if there are other meaty parts to the burger than just the patty, make sure to let them know. Anyway, if you're looking for decent bar food and drinks, Vahalla can meet the need for that staple college bar. read more

I have finally been able to enjoy this bar atmosphere a few times. They are very accomodating for large amounts of people on game days with big screen tvs and a projector on the dance floor to keep everyone entertained with the uhh...fine...games the Cougs put on. Plus you can do "Open to Close" here as long as you have a rough estimate of people that will attend. They will also give special deals on wells and maybe even make the group their own themed drink! Prices are relatively decent, especially when you split pitchers (quite a few different beers to choose from as well!). There is also an array of liquors to choose from and from what I've seen they make just about any drink you can think of. The atmosphere is pretty dark with music at a good level so you dont get a headache. There is one pool table, dart board, and a large dance floor. Bathrooms are usually kept pretty clean but it is slightly weird how the stall doors are curtains. All in all, this is a pretty good place to go to if you want the "college" experience. All of the nights spent here helped in forging some of the best friendships after I graduated. Valhalla should be regarded exactly as it is in folklore, this is the physical incarnation of that wonderful place. The new upstairs is pretty sweet but I'll always be a downstairs kid. You see, back in my day, you had to pass the test of being able to walk down the stairs without falling on your face to make sure you weren't already over the legal limit. Best. Test. Ever. I always loved Pass/Fail exams! But seriously, I was the Mug Club social chair for my last year at WSU and it was one of the most fun experiences I have ever had. If you haven't thought about joining the club, give it some serious thought. You MUST be a regular in order to be considered for membership but it is completely worth it. Then when you leave you can either take your mug with you OR, what I did, leave it there and give them the heads up when you're going to come through, raise some hell, and tip the kids spinnin' bottles! This place has gone through a couple different re-creations over the years, but its current incarnation seems to be sticking. When I started school, it was called "The Cavern", which seemed appropriate given it's location. It's in the basement of a 2 story building, with only a narrow stairway for an entry, which opens into a single, large room with mediocre lighting. Cavern indeed. I never considered it when I was there - even when there was a live band and waaaayy too many people in there - but the responsible adult in me is now a little nervous when I go in there. I catch myself looking to make sure that I can throw most of the other customers out of my way if there's a fire. Anyway, it's a serviceable college-dive bar. Cheap beer, flowing liquor, and basic food. Most of the time, it's not extraordinarily loud, it's actually possible to talk a little. read more

Sure, if you're a student and this is the first time you've ever been to a bar I guess it might be exciting. But as someone with a larger world view, I can say that this place is mostly just gross. Fun wing nights on Wednesday. Best wing night deal. It's a chill bar with beer pong tables. I have only been there on Wednesdays and the place gets packed. The wings are spicy and the beer is cold. My only complaint is the bouncer. I get it tough guy, you are enforcing the law but my I.D. is me. It looks like me, the name matches my debit and credit so you don't have to be such an ass. Easily the best bar on campus and the best drink specials around. On any given night you can get pitchers for under $5, try and beat that Mikes. Wing night on Wed is by far the best to go to during the week, and everyone loves 80's night on Saturday. The bar staff is some of the friendliest you'll find in the Palouse, odds are if you come here a few times they'll start to remember you by name. For all the reviewers that said the bouncers are assholes cause they checked your ID? Go to Mikes, they let 20 year olds in... If you're looking for a good laid back college bar that isn't packed to the point of not moving and you can actually hear yourself think, this is the place to have a good time with good friends and good people. Absolutely, hands down, the best bar in Pullman! The staff is amazing, and for those of us in the Mug Club, they usually remember our drinks (if we drink the same thing all the time!) Wednesday Wing Night is probably the best night of the week (I consider Friday's "weekends"). The wings are spicy, the drinks are cold, and the atmosphere is lively and active. Good friends, good food, good drinks, good times all the time! Friday's and Saturday's are the best nights for dancing, drinking, and just letting loose. I absolutely love this bar and miss it so! I quite enjoy Valhalla. It's conveniently placed right off of campus for after class snacks and drinks. It can get fairly crowded on the weekends and the later it gets the more likely there will be a line along the outside to get in. They have a downstairs for more space and some dancing if it tickles anyones fancy. They have a bar downstairs as well so you don't have to navigate treacherous stairs in an inebriated state or, whose kidding, stairs would probably take me and my drink down when I'm sober. I had to leave one of the football games early because of heat and dehydration and Valhalla happened to be the only bar at the time showing the game on TV. The upstairs was full but they had plenty more room and TVs downstairs to watch the game. The only problem I had on that day was that at a certain point the screen near our table got fuzzy and I had to focus on a smaller one farther away. It's a good one around town. read more

How do they stay in business? We went in to eat and were never acknowledged by anyone. There were only three other people in the place not counting the two staff members behind the bar. Walking in you get the overpowering smell of bleach which in a way is good but you end up tasting it. The place is cold and dark. The waitress would not tear herself away from flirting with a guy at the bar that wasn't eating or drinking long enough to greet us much less take our order. I've had several bad expirences here mainly with bartenders, wether I'm asking for a drink advice to overall service. Megan I think it's the name of the blonde bartender, during cat hour having 10 minutes to spare was training a member it took her 10 minutes to make a drink and when I asked for the cat hour price at 9pm said I could leave "if I had an attitude" and charged me full price, so advice for future customers, ask to be charged before making the drink I guess. Another occasion was with a different bartender, after asking for a advise on a tequila drink she just shrugged and said I don't know. It wasn't busy at all so I asked her to wait a sec while I googled some mixers and asked annoyed whenever I asked if they had different ingredients. I just feel like if you pay for service you should at least have a good expirence at the establishment. We ventured across the street from WSU campus for some lunch at Valhalla. It wasn't entirely clear but we gathered that this is an order at the counter type of establishment. Menu seemed pretty ample, and if you like wings this might be the place for you - seems like there were quite a few options in this department. Our table of 5 had a variety of items: BLT, grilled turkey and grilled onions, chicken sandwich, and burgers. Everyone was happy with their food. Quantity was more then enough. I came with a friend here and they brought me a drink. His card "declined" according to their pos system. He had told them to run it again because there was plenty of money on the card. The bartender(and manager) had flaunted in his face that his card was declined and degraded him because of it. The bartender then asked him to go to the atm and told him to take money out and told him that she would follow him. He ran his card and pulled out $200 and the bartender then proceeded to take $40 from him, LITERALLY PULLING THE CASH OUT OF HIS HAND, and said "thanks" and walked away. Who in their right mind would treat a customer like this?!! Spoke with a bouncer about it and they said "sorry she's the manager" valhallas need to recheck their decisions on promoting their employees. She's treated him unjustfully. read more

While Valhalla is currently "cool" again since they opened their upstairs, something just doesn't feel quite right. The bouncers are kinda creepy, the bar smells like a freshly cleaned restroom and you have to PAY for music on the stupid Juke Box. Often times the bouncers will play extreme hardcore rock or some sorority girls will start playing Taylor Swift. It kinda sucks you have to wait 30+ minutes for wings that are only decent, and on busy nights you have to wait outside in the cold in line AND THEN are forced to go downstairs if you want to go in plus the dancing area is weird, just not comfortable at all like it used to be. The happy medium of the bars in Pullman. Pretty chill, loud enough to be fun but now so loud you can hear people. They open the downstairs to dance, but not many people do, only if you're drunk enough. Lots of variety in the food, more than the other area bars. read more

Not only is it over priced, the servers seem to not know what they are doing. I ordered a burger it took a half hour and they forgot the beef patty which in my opinion is the most important part. Good beer, but food order was messed up! Ordered honey mustard chicken sandwich. Showed up with half the sandwich, no bacon, no honey mustard. When I went up to ask about it they took my sandwich and gave me the other half of my bun, which was another top of a bun that I already had. Still no bacon or honey mustard! Service was subpar. Walked up to get a drink. 4 bartenders are talking and glance over and do not come to serve beer. Around 10 seconds later another person comes to get a drink. The reviewer called it the cavern...well kids lets get a little history...If you knew Chovy's sandwiches..this was owned in the early 80's by Steve. It was called Barley and Hop's...the big thing was quarter pounders in paper cups...16 oz Heidelbergs for 25 cents. Back in the day we had full barrels..31 gallon variety sometimes 35 or more in the walk in....it was bought by Gary..and I forget the other guy..he had one eye in 81 and the name was changed to the campus cavern...such a great dive....sorry they upgraded...pullman is such a land of value.
