They sell us the BEST garlic spread and have been so kind to order it for us in bulk. We come from San Antonio once a week just to drop in!

This place is as good as it gets when it comes to a locally owned and operated business. The owners are twins I think, who I see often at the store. They're in the commercial that's posted under the pictures, and both of them are super friendly and always very helpful when it comes to getting questions answered. Everything is very clean here, neat and orderly like someone as OCD as me likes it. Probably the majority of their products are organic, and if they aren't it's because those things are not prone to being sprayed by pesticides anyway. They have a very wide selection of vitamins and homeopathic remedies that I like to look through for my current needs and they have a really good selection of probiotics, including some refrigerated ones that are pricey but effective in improving digestion. Their bulk section is not as big as the H-E-B across the street, but it definitely has a good variety. I usually go straight for the organic raisins which I use for oatmeal raisin cookies when I get the hankering for them. Next to the bulk section, they carry the organic Earth Balance spread that is hard to find in normal groceries and a lot of different alternatives to straight up cow dairy products. I especially like their goat milk kefir. They also carry organic PLAIN Greek yogurt which is not stocked at H-E-B. There are also different breads you can find in the freezer/fridge section that aren't available anywhere in the area such as spelt bread. Near the breads are also frozen meats which I normally get at the New Braunfels Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings, but if I don't have the time to make it up there, the variety here is pretty decent. I especially enjoy the Applegate Farms breakfast sausage links that are super hard to find, even at Central Market on Westgate. They have a good selection of different kinds of flour, including, but not limited to almond and coconut. They have canned goods as well, mostly organic. I can only find organic crushed tomatoes here by the can, I think made by Muir Glenn. There are also different kinds of organic granola that they have that are really good. There's also a grainless granola that they have, but I think it's a little dry for my taste. I wish they'd carry the Wildway local brand of grainless granola. Anyway, I digress. Oh, if you go there and you're a fan of coconut and sweets, you should totally get a bag of Snakaroons. It's basically a ball of shredded cocount with a sweet, delicious flavor and it's not completely horrible for you! All in all, I just want to remind everyone that you can find many things here that you normally would not across the street and, speaking for myself, I feel so much better knowing that my money is helping local businesses survive and thrive. I not only love supporting local businesses, but it's a big huge extra bonus if the owners are sweet, honest, hard-working people. This is the place to go. read more

The local store is more than what is needed in San Marcos. Fresh ingredients are moderately priced, cheaper than what most would think. For my chia seeds and vegetables for the week I'm looking at spending 7-9 dollars! Their boxed commercial line food is a bit pricier, but look on the shelves you'd be surprised what you find! The staff could be a little more friendly but no one is rude. Definitely check out San Marcos' gem. read more

I just found this place today and I love it! I actually got help! I walked it and right away somebody came up and asked me what I was looking for, not only that, but she went and got it for me! I got what I went for and somethings I didn't know existed...like oil to help with the nasty migraines that I get 4 times a week! Hopefully they'll be gone for good, or at least down to once a week. We came to San Marcos to go to the outlet malls. I had checked in the Health Food Store near us and couldn't find what I wanted and the salespeople weren't' much help. So I checked the Internet and found The Cornucopia. I am so glad I did. Not only did I find what I was looking for but the lady who helped us was so knowledgeable. She also know exactly where everything was and even gave me some tips and pointers on the items I was looking for. She even showed me how she used the Chia Seeds. I didn't really get a chance to talk much to the employees in the store, so I couldn't really say how good the service is. What I did notice is that the price for *everything* is at least a dollar more than HEB. Even Celestial Tea. I understand that one has to make a living, but if you're selling some of the same things, you can't mark it up higher than your big neighbor and expect me to buy anything. read more

My roommate and I came upon this place by chance. I had seen it one night driving and suggested one day that we go check it out. We were like kids in a candy shop. I love this place. I am a long time "natural foods" complimentary medicine veteran, so I know when a store is doing it right. A friend of mine in San Marcos was sick, so I did some remote investigation to see if I could find the products I thought would help. With one simple, polite, friendly phone call, I discovered the products (at very reasonable prices) to help with the mold and pollen allergies. Dan had them waiting at the counter for him to pick up. Right across Thorpe from the "big HEB", Cornucopia is San Marcos' go-to place for quality health food and products and a regular part of our weekly grocery shopping routine. Though HEB is starting to carry a wider variety of healthy and green products, Cornucopia more often than not has a better variety of what you're looking for. They have tons of green cleaning and beauty products and a wide variety of specialty foods from gluten-free to vegan. They have a limited selection of fresh produce available as well as a small freezer section and wholesale bins. They also have an entire wall of vitamins and supplements for the health conscious. The people who run the place and their employees are all very nice and knowledgeable about the products they are selling. I am incredibly thankful that San Marcos has a store like this so I don't have to drive all the way into Austin for specialty foods. The fact that it's a locally owned store and not another Whole Foods makes it even better. read more

I moved to San Marcos in 2004 and at some point around there found Cornucopia. I know I've been going there at least 12 years now. I like this store. I've been able to get a tremendous number of unique items, the staff is friendly AND knowledgeable about the products. I've also found items to try a first time. I've asked many questions and gotten lots of help. There are many more things about it that I like than I can list. My favorite product to get there is local honey when they have it. I also like the scent in the air inside the store. I even ran into one of the brothers delivering their cardboard and recyclables to Green Guy Recycling in town. I thank them for providing this niche in San Marcos, and I wish them the best of success. BTW, in 2010, I moved an hour away, but still plan stops at Cornucopia to purchase my products each time I'm in town. That's how much I like this store. read more
