Ali Baba International Foods is one of the few places I can find Karoun Yogurt Drink in SA…read more My search for this drink started during a trip to Turkey where I traded my ice tea addiction for a Yogurt obsession when having a Middle Eastern meal or dessert. One bottle usually will satisfy my needs , while at the same time bring my memories back to a country far-far away. I also have found spices and nuts that are not commonly found at the local supermarket.

A delicious Austin institution…read more You might have bought their pita at local grocery stores but nothing compares to their fresh stuff! If I am making anything that requires pita, I ask for a package from the baskets behind the counter. So good! I love this place. The staff have been there forever and are very accommodating to requests. Their grilled olives are so addictive! My favorite is their falafel wrap made exactly as they serve it. Keep the pickled turnips. They are delicious. I appreciate that they give their staff Sundays off - everyone deserves a weekend.

A "Muffaletta" was served on a VERY stale roll that the extremely rude counter staff insisted had been "baked that morning." I can only guess that this place survives on a reputation based on a long past level of goodness and a lack of local competition for "Mediterranean" groceries and prepared items. An absolute disgrace.

People always ask me where they can find good, authentic, Lebanese food in San Antonio, and for…read moredecades the answer has been... complicated. Until now. Zaatar Lebanese Grill is where we go when we don't feel like cooking, or if my mom is out of town. Located in the Silk Road Heritage District this place is serving up delicious Lebanese staples all day long. Grab an ice cold rose tea and some hummus bi lahme, hot pita bread, and a dish of your choice. Just make sure it comes with their homemade thin-sliced fries. They're next level if you like your fries crispy. Our kids love it here, so it's a no-brainer for family dinners but they also have a great lunch menu with curated bowls that are healthy and satisfying.

Zaatar Lebanese Grill lies in what I'm considering the SA town square of Middle Eastern cuisine…read more It's minutes away from IH-10 on Wurbach, I ordered the Gyro plate with Lebanese salad and wifey got the mixed grill platter. Both were tasty and were very similar in taste from our recent visit to Turkey. Lots of flavor going on at the same time and I have developed such a taste for the traditional rice. Light and flaky. I believe the owners are Arabic, but not actually Lebanese. Although we have traveled to the middle east, but not to Lebanon, I cannot say for certain if it is authentic or not. What I can say is the food was delicious and definitely used some of the same spices we are familiar with. The inside dining was for smaller parties of less than 6, and fit our needs on this visit.

Please avoid this place…read more They sell bunch of expired and not good stuff. I was looking for lavash/ wrap an I purchased two, one made in Turkey and one from Latvia. I opened it 3 days ago and look at mold all over the bread. Also it was all breaking apart which was a reason I could not make some veggie wraps. I bought it on 2/14 afternoon. There was a date on one exp in April and the other one did not have any date on a package. $10 for both went to trash. Sadly it's not the first time I get rotten or spoiled product. I would not recommend! Service is hit and miss . They treat Muslims better for sure. Not going to support such a business with poor customer service and poor quality.

A lot of the canned stuff, like different types of beans, isn't really any cheaper than what you'd find at places like H-E-B. Fruits and veggies looked pretty standard, but the prices were oddly higher than in regular grocery stores. They do carry some interesting sweets, and I always enjoy checking those out. Coffee, though, was more expensive compared to other international stores I've been to. What really stood out in a bad way was the attitude of the staff. No one was rude exactly, but they act like they don't really want to be there, and definitely not like they want you to be there either. Product-wise, no complaints. But the vibe from the people working there? Pretty unfriendly.
