After my stroll through the local marketplace in uptown Gruene, TX, I sat down nearby to rest because it was getting warm. Shortly afterwards, I turned to my right and saw the Fickle Pickles shop. I'm not a big fan of pickles, but I do enjoy a good crunchy pickle (when available) with my sandwiches. I was looking for specialty food items for my dear friend whose birthday was coming up. So I walked on over and entered this shop. What a cute and lovely pickle shop! The lady at this pickle shop was very friendly and pleasant. They offer free samples on their original flavor pickles. They also have a spicy version of the pickles (no samples for this one). OMG... amazingly delicious and tasty pickles! The best pickle I've ever eaten! It has a nice crunch to it, some sweetness, and some kick to it. I loved it! I bought 2 medium jars... one for my friend and one for me... I should have went with the bigger jars LOL. If you love pickles, get them from here even if you have to order them online. You won't regret it. I know I will order from them in the near future because I already finished my jar... maybe as a Christmas gift to myself LOL. Happy Fickling of a Pickle! The ambiance was great-they have the coolest side things I'm not kiddin'- like lamps made out of records, 80s rock stuff, even amazing Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston tablets from cassette and record covers, and everything well made, out of recycled stuff, license plates, etc ... sure they have Spiderman pins, bookmarks, etc, map lightswitch covers, but the lil' earrings made out of the lil yellow things you used to put in 45s, come on. But the girl working there with the glasses and cool glasses chain was THE BEST. She makes you wanna come back! Wish I had got her name and more money to spend in there!. And we had only stumbled in cause of coffee next door at Gruene Coffee Haus I think is name-cool lil' place too.. But I got a pickle sample (in those lil plastic dressing things) to bring my Mom who loves pickles! read more

My husband and I stopped here after I got an Ad in my Facebook feed. I guess ads do work! We came here on a Saturday afternoon and they had samples of the original pickles only. I enjoyed the taste of the pickles and picked up an original and spicy. They have different size jars and prices. A little pricy but they are specialty pickles. Overall the pickles are good. I wish they were sliced a little thicker but tasty. The spicy ones are not spicy at all for me. They have a good flavor so I would buy again. read more

Wasn't worth the price. The jar is mostly JUICE! $25 for a jar pf pickles! I could get similar results and better quality crunch in an HEB sweet pickle. $50 for TWO 32 ounce jars of pickles... Charge what you want, it's a free country but this is a laughable price for pickles... especially when they skimp out on the actual amount of pickles in the jar. They don't even pack the jars. These pickles are not your average pickle! They have samples and let me tell you they are amazing! How could a pickle be this good you ask? It's a small batch business and they are prepared with great ingredients. The woman working was so helpful and very kind. They are tucked back off the street in Gruene, but definitely worth the stop. They aren't cheap, but remember this is a small business and they are worthy of a little extra $-you will taste the difference! I bought some for us and some for sharing on Thanksgiving. We went in here excited, thinking they would have a variety of pickled vegetables and more things than just pickles... Come to find out they only have one thing, and it was quite possibly the worst pickle I have ever had! My friends were going to the coffee shop next door and I saw this store from the outside. Walking in, I was hoping that they'd have some fried pickles but turns out this is just a shop that sells nothing but jarred pickles. Yep, that's right, pickles, pickles, pickles, and then some more pickles. They have two different kind of pickles: regular and extra spicy. Both come in different sizes. They also have samples of the regular pickles that you can try and when I tried them, I thought they were so good. One of my friends didn't like though since she thought the pickles were too sweet. The jars have a date on them. My guess is they are the date of when the pickles were jarred. I didn't ask but I picked up a bottle with the latest date on it. The lady working there was friendly and I thought the pickles were priced reasonably. I didn't try the extra spicy pickles since they didn't have any samples, but I didn't care much for them anyway. You like pickles? Happen to be in Gruene?? Swing by here and have a sample. Maybe you'll walk out with a big jar of pickles like I did. read more

Genuinely the most disgusting pickle i've ever tasted. It was like somebody put sugar on a raw chicken and shoved it in a pickle jar. Almost threw up would not recommend if you actually want to enjoy some pickles. I would definitely sample first because this is not for everybody. read more

We used their pickle juice to marinate thinly sliced chicken breasts for 24 hours, coat them in egg wash, and toss in ritz cracker crumbs. Baked in the oven, and absolutely moist and tender! I don't get the great reviews. Went to this store expecting a big selection of different pickles or pickled items, nope! One kind of pickle with a "regular" and "spicy" version. There are pickles out to sample, none of us in the group like them - they are too sweet. The store also advertises antiques, not an antique to be found.
