Small expensive health food. It has most healthy options your looking for but I still prefer bigger chains like "sprouts"

My mom came to visit for a few hours (it's about an hour drive between our homes) so after being here after a bit she was a bit hungry. She wanted Vietnamese food but I didn't know a place. We couldn't settle on a place through searching but I remembered a place that I pass often and have a bit of curiosity about. After searching, turns out it was a Thai/Chinese food place. She agreed and we went. Walking in there was a sign stating the need for servers (keep that in mind). The decor was what you'd expect from an old school mom and pops place. It was small and homey. The place was busy. There was a large party, a smaller party, a couple at the ordering counter and some stragglers coming in and out. For everyone there was only one server. The couple in front of us ordered then the server left to try to balance between the service counter and the tables. She came back but rather quickly but we told her we would take a minute. The menu here is rather large. When she came back, my mom attempted to explain she was looking for something similar to a Vietnamese vermicelli dish, the server just said "this is a Thai place". Well duh ma'am but we're asking for recommendations. I chalk it up to how busy the place was and maybe she was frazzed...still tho :/ But we moved on. My mom ordered a curry plate with pork (comes with rice) and an order of egg rolls and I got drunken noodles. Being that there were so many people, she said it would take around 20 minutes. We decided to wait and it did take around that amount of time. The food did come out hot though. I only live about 9 minutes away so getting home it was still hot. That's the only positive about the food. Opening the container for my noodles I noticed the noodles were in huge sticky clumps. I make a lot of Asian cuisine and that tells me the cooking method wasn't performed properly. From soaking the rice noodles long enough to making sure the wok was hot enough to cook the noodles without allowing them to time to stick. Something was missed. My mom noticed there wasn't a lot of meat in her curry and that the meat that was there wasn't pork but chicken. I looked and noticed the same. But upon tasting not having a lot of meat was a blessing. Turns out it WAS pork. It was cut into very small slivers and so incredibly dry that it lost all pork like characteristics and become some unidentifiable meat like ingredient. It was so bad my mom just took the pieces out and poured the soup of the curry over the rice. Neither of us finished the food. It was so disappointingly unappetizing after a few bites we just left it sitting. We both agreed it wasn't worth the almost $40. I apologized to her for recommending the place and for her spending her money. Needless to say I won't be back here. I hate to be so harsh to a local business so I gave it 2 stars instead of 1; but this place is bad.

The moment you walk in, you can feel it--this isn't just a shop, it's a living, breathing creation. Every shelf, every scent, every thoughtfully placed detail feels intentional and curated with a level of care that's honestly rare to come by these days. If you're drawn to apothecary, the esoteric, the intellectual, the beautifully strange--this place is a dream. Not in a trendy, surface-level way... but in a deep, rooted, soul-nourishing kind of way. And Wade... You can tell this space is a labor of love. Wade hasn't just built a store--he's created an experience. One that honors knowledge, craft, and curiosity. There's a quiet brilliance to it. Nothing feels rushed or mass-produced. It feels studied. Respected. Lived in. You don't just browse here--you linger. You explore. You ask questions. You notice things you didn't expect to notice. It invites you to slow down, to connect, to be present in a way most retail spaces simply don't. It's rare to find a place that feels both intellectually stimulating and energetically grounding at the same time--but somehow, this one does exactly that. San Marcos is lucky to have it. Truly. If you appreciate intention, depth, and beauty in all its forms... go. Take your time. Let yourself get lost in it. Some places you shop at. This one, you experience.

They make no effort to try to clarify, understand, or making things rice. And the food is fine and overpriced. There are way better thai places in town, with far better service. Go there, please. Though I hit the gym regularly, I am somewhat outside of the weightlifting culture but know enough to identify that the guys working here are legit. This conclusion is mostly owing to the coded interchange between my brother and one employee. Employee: "What gym you go to?" Brother: "I'm here on leave." Employee: "How you like them Vibrams?" Brother: "Only way to run--if you know what you're doing." Employee: "Exactly. What are you looking for?" Brother: "What you got?" Employee: "Energy or pump?" Brother: "Pump." Employee: "Ah--" *knowing nod* "pump." He then led my brother to some colored bottles in a cooler, explaining what he preferred and why, as well as what is the most popular formula and why. Overall, eh offered professional customer service, of course, while retaining his manly terseness. My only criticism of Nutrishop is that it might intimidate those who don't know a thing about pump or Vibrams but just want to buy some cheap protein powder (namely me). I'm certain, however, that if one can "(wo)man-up" enough to get his or her butt in the door, Nutrishop will be able to field all your questions and have the products that you're looking for.
