Hubby & I attended the critically acclaimed production of, "Hedwig and The Angry Inch" Friday night, 03/07/15, to see my daughters boyfriend, who is playing in "The Angry Inch" Rock Band. WOW......the band / music is amazing! Robert Rain, as Hedwig, and Jenine Galante, as Yitzhak, both give captivating performances! The story is sad, yet some parts are unexpectedly funny, as told by Hedwig Schmidt. The theatre was Rockin', the audience was singing and really involved in this play. Again, I really like this venue and hope to see more plays / productions here! The Margo Jones / Magnolia Lounge is truly a Dallas Icon, as was Margo Jones, herself! Per Wikipedia: ***Margo Jones (December 12, 1911 - July 24, 1955) , was an influential American stage director and producer best known for launching the American regional theater movement and for introducing the theater-in-the-round concept in Dallas, Texas. In 1947, she established the first regional professional company when she opened Theatre '47 in Dallas. Of the 85 plays Jones staged during her Dallas career, 57 were new, and one-third of those new plays had a continued life on stage, television and radio. Her theater-in-the-round concept requires no stage curtain, little scenery and allows the audience to sit on three sides of the stage. However, during the party an artist spilled red paint on the carpet, so she later brought professional cleaners to deal with it. They used carbon tetrachloride, a strong solvent commonly used in dry-cleaning processes at the time. Jones, satisfied with the cleaning, fell asleep into the night. Unfortunately, some carbon tetrachloride had been absorbed into the carpet and later evaporated, filling her home with toxic fumes. So she woke up dizzy; it was later discovered the gas had caused kidney failure. She was then found unconscious on the couch resting and she was rushed to hospital, but died 9 days later. According to her friends, she briefly regained consciousness and found out she was going to die, and made elaborate preparations for her burial, including asking her friends to dress her properly and grooming her for her funeral. You can Bring Your Own Booze (BYOB) which also saves you money. We brought bottles of beer, and the box office had a bottle opener we could use to pop them open. There was no corkage fee, but they aren't going to be providing glasses or ice, nor will they pour your beverage for you. If you need a snack during the show, they offer some concessions at the box office window. It looked like candy, chips, and canned soda were available for sale. Before the late show, someone setup a table to sell multi-colored popcorn. It's not dinner, but it will tide you over until you can eat a proper meal elsewhere. The venue is located in a business park with plenty of free parking outside. There was a police officer parked in the lot and making the rounds. Not sure if that is par, but the business park seemed like a clean and relatively safe area. It's not the Ritz, but it isn't dive bar quality either. The walls are painted black and decorated with colorful panels. Metal stacking chairs with built in cushions are lined up nicely with at least one small table squeezed in each row. You could move the chairs if you felt you needed a little more elbow room. There are no arm rests. The low table allows you to set your drinks and snacks down so you can clap for the entertainment, but you'll need to get there early to score a spot next to one. The front row has two, 3-seater, plush couches. We got there early enough to get one of those seats, but opted to avoid the potential punishment of sitting in the front row of a comedy show. The comics during the early show were from Austin, San Antonio and Dallas. It was mostly local talent. Both men and women performed short sets of maybe 10-15 minutes. There were about 5 different comics that performed during the early show. Each comic had a monologue with some gems and some duds. This is raw talent, not polished TV fodder, but entertaining just the same. The late show was a special show. I wish we could have stayed for it, as the publicity for it was originally how we found out about this place. The venue is also offering improv classes. You'll have to check their website for prices and a schedule. Improv classes are for everyone, and everybody who takes them can benefit from learning to think out of the box, to integrating spontaneous creativity in their life, and to fostering better communication with others. This place is a good bargain for those looking for a night out without breaking the bank. Since my hubby is cheap, I'm sure we will be back.

The Broadway shows are always great - in my opinion the sound and seating at Winspear really shine versus Fair Park Music Hall. Concerts here are fantastic and I would jump at the chance to see a favorite artist at the Winspear. Easiest parking is the Lexus Red lot but it is a bit pricey and naturally takes a while to empty out post show. Still you can walk around after the show and let the crowds clear out or get a snack at the Flora Cantina next door. There is also dining inside the center up high which looks really great. Amazing views from inside on all levels. What a gorgeous building and we are lucky to have it in our city.

I take with him 5 days a week and always enjoy and get so much out of my lessons. Eric is extremely knowledgable, a fantastic teacher and an incredible dancer also. He encourages me to not be afraid to push and challenge myself and allows me room to make mistakes and grow. It's a rewarding experience and journey. All of the Pro dancers/ instructors that teach at Image Ballroom have trained and competed most of their youth and adult life. I attended another well known studio previous to joining Image Ballroom. The difference was night and day. The level of training at Image Ballroom comparatively to the other studio was noticeable from my first lesson. The instruction level, professional dedication and culture is so many levels above other studios. If you are considering starting your ballroom journey, I would strongly consider this studio. There are many students who have gone before you who can testify to the difference of culture, experience and instruction that Image Ballroom offers.

Seriously, it is literally hard to describe how much you will laugh and feel like a kid again enjoying all of the references to the original Peter Pan while guffawing at the deliciously racy, but very tasteful (and tasty) jokes. The cast in this show is fabulous. They are able to do scene changes and make what is really a bare-bone production something that reminded me of storytelling in my childhood. All of a sudden you weren't just looking at a group of people, you were seeing everything they were miming or imagining or alluding to. It was fabulous. A dash of camp, a dash of nostalgia, and a whole lot of talent made this production one for the memories.

A plus is the "Stone Cottage" theatre in the rear which hosts a different theatre company and is which is rustic with often ribald works. There is also a large snd configurable separate meeting space which can be had for special functions or seminars. If you are into Architecture and you ever get the chance for a complete tour of the Water Tower theatre seize the opportunity because it is a very cool building with 2 levels below grade for costume and storage with three above that are absolutely amazing in how they are completely flexible for multi tier stage configurations and configurable seating tiers from several directions.
