When my fiancée pulled off the highway in Gilette I laughed at him. We climbed Devils Tower earlier in the day on one shared Clif Bar and we were starving. the Coop not only didn't disappoint but it was actually fantastic! the chicken was fresh and well seasoned. the homemade corn tortillas were the best I've had outside of Mexico. the salsas were yummy (red better than green) and the side choices plentiful. We ordered a whole rotisserie chicken and pretty much boxed the whole thing up because we stuffed ourselves on charro beans, wings and sides. I can't imagine that there is anything even close to as good in this little town. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Gillette. So small, so unassuming from the exterior... But what you find inside is excellent service, a nice bottle of wine, fresh ingredients, and the best rotisserie chicken anywhere. I love the chicken chorizo tacos, with grilled pineapple and fresh corn tortillas. My husband orders chicken livers, off-menu, and they are happy to make them. Just had an amazing lunch at the coop while traveling in our RV. I actually found them on yelp and was hooked with them bring pet friendly. (their outdoor patio) Kayla immediately brought both us and our dogs water . The food did not disappoint either! Hubby had the chimichanga which he loved and I had the chicken tacos. I'd give it 4.5 stars! Dining area is small I never checked out the bathroom but the food and service was great! Super delicious authentic Latin American/Mexican food. The lettuce wraps were a bit smaller than I would have liked, but oh so delicious. My taste buds were in heaven. The drinks are pretty swell. I had the adult lemonade and it was tasty, they definitely didn't skimp on the adult part. . And the desserts are super delish as well. I recommend! read more

We were traveling and had a long day. We wanted something we could eat on the road and after a quick search called The Coop. The lady suggested their soft she tacos. We got 2 orders - one of chicken and one of chorizo chicken, added an order of chips and guacamole. The guacamole was perfect- just like my homemade, the tacos were made with fresh ingredients and perfect "on the go" food. We split the tacos, eating some right away and saving the rest for a few hours as we drove. They were just as tasty later and the chips/guacamole(kept in cooler) even lasted through the next day. If you live here and haven't eaten here, go today! If you are passing through, it's easy to find and worth the stop! read more

We were traveling through Gillette west and stayed Labor Day night after 12 hours in the car. We ate dinner at the Coop and could not have been more impressed with food, welcoming staff and service. We enjoyed the absolutely most juicy, delicious chicken, homemade Guac and tasty tomatillo and tomato salsas. We are both great home cooks and struggle to find excellent restaurant fare. This place totally exceeded our expectation! Best roast chicken ever! read more

Stopped by tonight based on all the good reviews. Had the half rotisserie chicken with 2 sides. Chicken was tasty but cool, barely room temperature, mac and cheese side was good. My favorite place in town! For someone who loves healthy and delicious food, this is the place to go. They offer a great variety of gluten free options and are so accommodating. Love every time I go. My go to favorite is either the Rotisserie Meal (thigh and leg) with green beans, or the rotisserie tacos. read more

This place has the best chicken I've ever had. I got the half bird with some extra buffalo tenders included. Holy mackerel the chicken was perfect and juicy, no sauces needed. The tenders were the perfect combinations of crunchy and were not over breaded. I got the side of Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes which were also well done and complimented the chicken well. If I make my way back to Gillette I will be stopping here again read more

Was traveling through and found this place online for dinner. It was an awesome find for dinner! The chicken was so soft and juicy, albeit a little on the salty side. We ordered the green beans and they were so fresh and tender with a nice garlicy finish. Compared to all the other restaurants we encountered on our drive through Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota..mostly diners with the same fried and greasy food options, finding The Coop was very refreshing. The food is great, portions are good for the price. Very affordable, food comes out quick. It is a little small on the inside but they are a quick service type of restaurant so I didn't mind.. I have been to The Coop multiple times and have only had one bad experience and the food wasn't the issue. There were 4 tables of people the last time I was there, 12 people in total... there were 2 waitresses on duty, I never got a refill the entire time I was there, the waitress checked on us twice and it took 30 minutes to get our check. Wife and I ate here during a trip to Gillette. It was highly recommended by a local, so we had to try it. Like many others have noted, this place is small, very small. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived, but not too bad. We tried the wings for an appetizer. They were delicious! We both ordered rotisserie chicken, and a side. I had the mac and cheese, my wife had something different, I cant recall. We both loved the chicken and sides, super tasty and freshly made. Only thing that I had, which I really didn't care for was the tortillas, bland and just not good to me. Something off with the texture as well. Overall, this place is good and worth a visit.
