Loved this restaurant. It was happy and cheerful and beautifully decorated. The staff were also super welcoming and friendly. Also the draft beers were cold and fresh tasting. I don't really like Mexican food so I had the taco salad. It had ground beef, sour cream, shredded cheese, lettuce and guacamole. I poured the salsa from the chips as I like it a little spicy. Really good Mexican food. Started with the guacamole and it was nice and creamy with great taste. We had the carnitas tacos and the chorizo tacos. The carnitas tacos were good but the chorizo tacos tasted good but were a tad greasy. I would return if I traveled here again since its location was close to our hotel. read more

We're from Buffalo and this was our first time here. My wife and I ordered the SpeciAl of the Dat, Beef Burrito. When it came, it was hot, looked delicious and was Huge! Smothered with melted cheese, it was delicious. My wife knew right off she would be taking half home for another meal. Our waiter was very friendly and his made sure our lunch was as we expected. It was very crowded but he made sure our tea glass was kept full and we were enjoying lunch. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Unlike other Yelpers reviews our experience was horrible. I ordered what I usually do at a Mexican restaurant while traveling- a chile relleno. It was practical inedible as the seeds had been left inside the poblano chile, making it demasiado picante. Even after scraping out what I could, the dish was still bad as the poblano was tough. I stopped in on a motorcycle trip. All I have to say is "DAMN That's a lotta CHEeEEeEsa!!!" They have out door and in door seating. I ordered a plain cheese quesadilla and they put the most cheese I'd ever seen in it. I was super happy and impressed. Came with Greta guac, salsa and sour cream. I stay at a hotel across the street frequently and wanted to eat dinner somewhere within walking distance of the hotel. My choices are a Chinese place, Subway or Pizza Hut. On a previous visit I had gone to the Pizza Hut and it was not a good experience. The Chinese place is the Hong Kong and on a previous visit I walked in and walked right back out, so no Hong Kong. I have been to the Subway there on a couple of occasions so I wanted something different. Los Compadres was the choice and it was a good decision. If you like colorful this place would appeal to you, the furniture is colorful, the walls even the ceiling has colorful flags. I was greeted with a smile and seated as soon as I walked in the door. Chips and salsa were placed at the table right away and the salsa was in a cute little carafe and it was so good. I ordered the steak quesadilla and while waiting I polished off the chips and salsa. My meal was brought out on a platter sized plate, quesadilla, guacamole, sour cream, rice and beans. The quesadilla was about an inch thick with ample servings of beef and cheese. The cheese was so thick and gooey that I had pinch the cheese to separate my mouth from the quesadilla. The big chunks of beef were tender and spiced just right to allow the taste of the meat to be enjoyed. The rice and beans were ok, hard to screw them up or make them memorable. I can put away a fair amount of food when I slap on the feed bag and I couldn't finish this meal. I waved the white flag with everything consumed but one piece of the quesadilla. I think the meal could have been a shared meal for two adults. The service was superior, my waiter and every employee who walked by inquired about any needs I had. I can't think of a negative for this place and I will be back for dinner on my next trip north. read more

What should I expect getting Mexican food in Gillette? Not much. Reviews made this place sound much better, but I found it subpar. I got the tamale and enchilada combo. Tamale was fine, but my cheese enchilada was not good due to the type of cheese they use. Maybe it was cheddar, but whatever it was, it is not meant for an enchilada or to place on top of my beans. Rice was not ok as well but nothing great. Lots of seating for a small little restaurant and during lunch there were a lot of staff working. I would try this place again. Chips and salsa were great though! Maybe some other dishes are better, but I recommend holding the cheese. read more

I'm not sure how this place can have any less than 5 stars. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the owner, you are treated like your visit is important to them...which doesn't happen much anymore. We stopped here on our way through and we are so glad we did. It was super busy on a Wednesday night, which should hint to how great this place is. The wait was only 10-15 mins and every single employee was running their butts off. There is art everywhere from the walls, to the chairs, to the tables. The seats need a new covering, but most places need something after the horrible year they had. The food was delicious, if you don't think so, you ordered something you probably wouldn't like no matter how it was made. The fajitas and enchiladas were the best we've ever had, and we know what Mexican food should taste like. Thank you to all the staff for giving us an incredible end a very long day/week of traveling. We will definitely be back the next time we are even close to the area. In fact, I live 9 hours away and can see myself making Gillette a weekend destination just for this food! read more

This is decent Mexican food! Service was great, I was sat immediately and had chips, salsa, and water within the first few minutes. The salsa might be my favorite part of the entire meal. They bring it out in a small carafe that you can poor into a small bowl. It is filled with onions and cilantro. I ordered the chicken fajita lunch special, which was enough for lunch and dinner!
