Beautifully prepared lobster resting over a rich, creamy risotto, finished with crumbled cheese, golden olive oil and an edible flower. The lobster was tender and succulent, the risotto luxurious and comforting, and together it was the kind of dish you slow down to eat because you genuinely don't want it to end. The smaller courses were just as impressive--beautifully composed bites with unexpected combinations of sweet, savory, crisp and creamy. And dessert was the perfect ending: playful, sophisticated and just indulgent enough. What impressed me most was that nothing felt excessive. Every component seemed to have a purpose. This was food created with thought, technique and genuine artistry. But as incredible as the meal was, my favorite part of the evening was sitting across the table from my daughter. There are meals you remember because the food was exceptional, and there are nights you remember because of the person sitting across from you. Last night was both. Congratulations to 1892 on your first anniversary. What a beautiful accomplishment and what an extraordinary way to celebrate your first year.
