Honey lavender, peach Bellini,chocolate strawberry
Karen R.

As soon as you walk in the aroma of baked goods hits. The young lady at the counter was very friendly & pleasant. The place is very pretty, upscale high end bakery. I tried some macarons & they are honestly the best I've had on LI. Bursting with flavor! The shell was perfectly chewy! I tried peach Bellini, the peach flavor was great. I also tried honey lavender & you could taste both flavors, which I was blown away by. The chocolate strawberry was also full of fresh strawberry flavor. All the flavors were very natural nothing tasted artificial. I am very very impressed. Their other baked goods look really good, so I will be back

I ordered my daughter's "18" on their website which makes the process so much easier than calling or stopping by. The even better part was that the cake was to die for!!! 10/10 on appearance AND taste. We will definitely be ordering more cakes in the future! Thank you!

This place is not only adorable to look at, but it smells so damn good when you walk in! The girl behind the counter was super friendly and answered all my questions about the different items. As expected, I left with more than I came for. Not only do all the items look pretty but they taste delicious and fresh. And on top of that, the prices are extremely reasonable. Definitely a must try if you're in the neighborhood!

How this place isn't more popular, I don't know. But its an instagrammer's dream! You walk in and its all pastel pink with flowers and accents. Directly in front of you is a glass case filled with macarons, tart cakes, and cookie sandwiches. If you have any questions, the owners are kind enough to answer. Over the last couple of weeks, I've had a few macarons and a tart cake. I'll admit, the chamomile apricot was a bit of a letdown. A good, standard macaron but no discernable apricot or chamomile taste to it. The creme brulee on the other hand was the better offering of the two. A lightly burnt sugar crust on top led to an almost tart filling which was nice! On the other hand, the tart cake was wonderful. Aesthetically pleasing and not too sweet. But rich at the same time. The added fruit in between layers was a nice touch. Even the merengue on top had a nice caramel flavor to it! For the price point, it's a wonderful dessert for the summer or even a little sweet treat for someone you care about. Overall, would 1000% recommend this place to anyone. I sincerely hope they stick around!

Macaron selection. Some eclectic flavors for sure.

Apparently, no one is flocking to The Cookie Shop...well, no avid Yelper anyway. I say this because my trip to this brand new-ish storefront was a couple weeks back now and their review total still clocks in at a goose egg. Well shame on anyone who stepped foot in TCS and didn't write up their experience because this place is the real deal! Let's back track for a moment as it's totally possible you've never heard of The Cookie Shop...or, perhaps, you've heard of them via social media. My girlfriend was the one to turn me onto TCS through her searching around for local sweets and so it became an interest to check them out, especially when their Centereach location opened its doors. Walking through said doors showed off a contemporary tea house type feel that almost seemed a little coffee shop-esque as well (only brighter). It's a pretty welcoming vibe from wall to wall. Several displays helped to show what's available, which looked like a lot of satisfyingly sweet selections. A few varieties of cookie sandwiches, tea cookies with raspberry jam, and several types of macaroons were the choices at the time. The female and I decided to try out a chocolate chip cookie sandwich and a handful of macaroons, including their Cadbury cream option (which tasted like...well, you can guess). Each macaroon was fresh and flavorful while that cookie sandwich was soft, creamy, and delicious. Now this review wouldn't have even happened had it not been for a big portion of what The Cookie Shop does which, surprisingly, has nothing to do with cookies. TCS makes tart cakes and these glorious creations are often showcased for the letters and shapes created for sale. Our main reason for swinging by that day was to pick up our preordered bunny-shaped tart cake (for Easter). This thing was beautifully concocted and even tastier when eaten. It was filled with berries and cream that were sandwiched between two pieces of a soft, cookie-like (oh, now I get the cookie connection) pastry dough. Not the cheapest endeavor, but one that was wonderfully light and refreshing, hitting the dessert spot without overdoing it. Just one more quick mentioning of the staff member there (which will help with the five stars I'm throwing out) as she was friendly without being over the top and nice enough to let us know that if we bought a few more macaroons that it was 10% off. Also, that tart cake pre-order was easy to do and pick up which is worth nothing for anyone interested in getting a personalized letter or shape for an event. Hmm, perhaps that'll come in handy some time in the future... Overall, The Cookie Shop is a pleasantly near-perfect place that holds just the right amount of sweets and honestly ones that are not necessarily amongst your average selection. Don't expect chocolate covered peanut butter puffs here (though I just saw they are offering edible cookie dough). Instead, look for some fresh sweets made with plenty of quality and time. And hopefully, with this review plug, we'll see some other reviews popping up on here real soon.

I absolutely adore this shop. Stephanie is amazing and she puts so much love and care into her shop and bakes, it really shows! The seasonal selections are always fun and tasty. I have never eaten something from there I didn't like. Plus the aesthetic inside is A+, so adorable, clean, cozy and photo worthy. I drop by the shop whenever I have a special event or occasion where I need something not only beautiful, but delicious. And I love being able to support this shop and it's owner. Highly highly highly recommend.

To start, they "brownies" are not actual brownies. They are individual slices of cake. I didn't notice this 2 years ago but having it again last night, the Cadbury brownie tastes like a layered sheet cake made from box mix. The frosting on top wasn't too sweet, but certainly doesn't carry the richness of Cadbury chocolate. In a slice this simple, there's really no place to hide and paying that much for something that taste like it was battered out a box is not worth it in my opinion. The Dubai chocolate slice tasted better, but tbh, the Dubai chocolate cake from Costco not only tastes better but has a better price point! I was really excited to try their ice cream - I loved their flavor choices, but that's where my fondness pretty much stopped. The pints were pricey and taste super home made (not in a good way). The ice cream was hard and while it tasted like sweet cream, it was definitely not churned enough to carry a smooth texture. They pints were Van Leeuwen prices but the taste and texture was far from quality ice cream. In this case, I much rather pick up a pint of Hagen Daz, again much better price point and better quantity. The store is pretty but I won't be returning.

A coworker recently asked me to bring back some cookies since she knew I was flying home to New York. When she said she wanted good quality cookies, I already knew exactly where I was headed: Alpine. Every time I walk into this place it somehow feels like the first time. Maybe it's the nostalgia from going there with my family for so many years, or maybe it's because it's still family-owned and truly has that warm, welcoming vibe. The people who work there are always so sweet, accommodating, and kind, which just adds to the experience. When anyone brings up rainbow cookies, Alpine is honestly the first place that comes to mind for me. They're the only ones I really go to for them. For my coworker, I picked up a pound of assorted cookies so she could try a little bit of everything. Selfishly, I was definitely thinking I should've ordered a box for myself too! She absolutely loved them, which came as no surprise. If you want truly great Italian cookies and pastries, Alpine Pastry Shoppe is the only place that comes to mind for me. I'm so happy to see that they're still open, and I truly hope they remain a neighborhood staple for many years to come.

We clearly agreed that the cake would match a reference photo, including specific colors and Spiderman eye decorations. The manager reviewed the image with me and allowed me to take a photo of her phone showing the exact design we agreed upon. When my husband arrived to pick up the cake--after the promised pickup time--the cake was brought out, but the manager quickly asked for it to be returned to the kitchen because it was not ready. At that point, it was clear the cake was also missing the agreed‑upon decorations. I spoke directly with the manager, who then denied ever agreeing to include the Spiderman eyes, despite having reviewed and approved the design earlier. Most concerning, my husband later observed the manager alter the photo on her phone, removing the decorations we had discussed. Additional requested decorations were also not put on the cake. It has now been weeks, and no one has followed up, despite being told the owner would contact me. For the price and the importance of the occasion, this level of disorganization, lack of accountability, and dishonesty is unacceptable. I expected professionalism, transparency, and follow‑through--and received none.
