When I used to work in the village I would go here often. I don't remember the day when the fresh batches come in but everything is always FRESH. The high turnover ensures quality every time. I love the selection of licorice from all over the world and my favorite is the fresh all sorts. The Swedish and Icelandic licorice are delicious and I enjoy the Jordan almonds and the packs of candy corn and cinnamon bears. The truffles are fine. I do wish they carried some Christopher Elbow. By far, way better selection than Lolly and Pop and the selection feels more curated, customer service is more attentive, and there is an old time Sandlot movie feel. If you're a middle school kid with $3 and you can spend it on candy back in time and you have a crush on that one associate who is the older sister of one of your classmates working here then you may go to the confectionary to see her. None of the workers today were nice or helpful, except the half-Asian girl who actually apologized that they couldn't find what I wanted, and actually made the effort to walk around the store with me. However, she did give me one of the wrong candies but I didn't catch it until I had already left- my bad for not paying attention, but wish she had clarified before grabbing it. I am a huge sweets person, so I don't mind spending money especially on things that make me happy. Unfortunately, I just wasted $40 this weekend on the NASTIEST candy I've ever purchased. The gummies I purchased tasted old, stale and overall had a bad flavor. For a store that basically sells repackaged sweets I was extremely disappointed. I spent $10 on a small bag of gummy sharks, and sadly will be throwing the whole package away. Please do better, I work hard to buy the things I enjoy and don't appreciate being robbed. read more

I was shocked when my kid came in here because he's not big on candy so for him to buy the grads some candy was different. But I'm glad that I came here. They have all types of candy and cute little bags. The people were so nice when we entered and I appreciated not being followed around. The Confectionery is like one of those old school candy shops that you see in the movie. You walk inside and you're surrounded by literally a bunch of candy. The candy ranges from your normal chocolate candy variety to gummy candy, and then they have a section of like normal store brand candy.They are a local store but I'm not 100% sure if the candy is made locally. They have a very good selection of candy and if you don't see something, you can ask the staff to see if they can get something similar or make you a custom bag. They have more things behind the counter. I got some gummy bears and sour strips. The gummy bears are really good, and they do taste like the fruit that they are supposed to represent such as green apple, pineapple, strawberry, etc. the texture is chewy but not stick to your teeth chewy. The sourstrips I got were just okay. It has a weird texture that my jaw gets tired of chewing it, however it's really thin and flat so I'm not sure what's up with that. The sour taste is strong, much stronger than other brands. So with all these different candy variety's, there is a caveat. The price. If you take a normal bag of gummy bears from your local super market, it will cost you around 2 dollars. Here, a pound of gummy bears is 16 dollars and there isn't much gummy bears in a pound. You can ask them to get you a smaller bag/portion if their prepared bags are out of your price range. Overall, definitely check it out and amaze yourself with this great candy store! read more

I came here after another candy store in the area was closed. I'm so glad I did. This is a very cute candy store with great service. I especially love all of the holiday themed treats. This is a really cute place! Parking is always tricky in this shopping center. You should expect to drive around looking for parking for a small while. Be patient. It's a beautiful mall. It's worth waiting for a parking spot to experience this mall, especially on a sunny day! I sent the candy out as a gift. I wish I had taken more photos, but if you're looking for retro candy they do carry the old school candy cigarettes. Bubble gum and hard candy versions. I also got gumdrops, lots of Halloween themed gummies and Halloween chocolate covered Oreos. I got taffy and chocolates. There's so much cool stuff! read more

Oh man ... my long search for a high quality and tasty candy shop in Seattle is finally over! If you've been looking around for great chocolate and are about to give up hope, no worries my friend. You'll find it in The Confectionery! They have a huge selection of pre-wrapped candies and treats, but their real treasure are their fresh selections behind the counter. Coming here, you have to have some of their chocolates and make a bag or box to go. Milk and dark chocolate lovers will be happy with so many flavors and kinds to chose from. At this stop, I got some of wife's favorites and she loved them all (marshmallow, coconut, turtles, caramels, and mints). For me, I got one of their original peanut butter cups --- I simply can't resist those, as they're my favorite! They are pretty pricey for chocolates, but it's so worth it. So much better than the cheap box stuff you get at the drug store and better than the other local shops that many people go to (I won't say the name, but most people can "see" them when they go to the mall). The Confectionery is well worth the higher price and worth fighting the crowds at the U-Village. I'll be back for boxes for special occasions and for when we have that yummy chocolate craving! read more

Oh my word! I was in CANDY heaven! They have some interesting items from hard candy, chocolate and cream filled candy I had a hard time choosing. Plus the holiday products made it even harder. I kept gravitating to the peppermint items but some how my eye caught wind of this sour strawberry cream filled bag of candy. And I ended up with the last package. Thank God! In the middle of the sour strawberry candy is this creamy cream filling. It was delicious it was in a little bag that cost $7.50. Was it worth it? Oh yes it was! I found out from the cashier that it's their most popular item. Indeed it is! The decor of the shop is beautiful but I was so afraid of breaking the many glass containers that separated all the items. If you love candy you will not be disappointed! Go get some soon! read more

I am obsessed with gummy candy and even more obsessed with sour candy. I saw this shop while window shopping at U Village and had to go in to see if they carried sour keys, my favorite Canadian sour gummy candy. They did not, but what they did have was even yummier than those. They let me sample a Bubs Godis sour raspberry gem (technically black currant) and now I'm in love with that brand. They also had me sample their sour raspberry rose skulls (technically just fresh raspberry) and then their super sour raspberry soda bottle gummies. You can tell they take creative liberty with the naming of the candy they sell. No worries, it's all incredible. I got a quarter pound of the gems and then returned for a quarter pound of the other two the next time I came in. I've found my new sour candy dealer!! If you feel like something more sophisticated, they have local chocolate truffles, imported Italian sweets, fresh caramels, and so much more. They swap out a good portion of the store to coincide with upcoming holidays so you can always find fun treasures like bags of gummy dismembered body parts around Halloween or sprinkles shaped like tiny little gingerbread men around Christmas. They even have a wall of candy under $1 each, like gummy pizzas and lollipops, for kids who just want a sugar high. read more

She never disappoints with her selection of from fine truffles to really fun novelty candy treats. This is MY "Go To" candy store. I am addicted to their dark chocolate stars even if they do make me gain weight! Bring it on! A note: The woman posting the one star review who was upset because they couldn't bring a puppy into the store must realize animals are not allowed where food is sold, and that includes those selling sweet treats. Candy stores would fall into that same category as it is considered food. No one loves more than sweet little puppies then me, but as a customer, I wouldn't like a dog near food sales either. Chocolate is also poisonous to dogs! If the little guy had gotten ahold of a wayward piece of chocolate on the floor he could have become very sick. read more

The Confectionary is a little bit of pink, sweet NYC chic, covered with floor to ceiling displays of candy that would make an oompa loompa tear up. Lots of adorable jars of candy, lots of beautiful shelves of chocolate, gumdrops, gummy bears all in a pink-themed backdrop of a candy shop in the U-Village. They will style you out with very costly and charming party grab bags, a mix of sweet treats in a cute cellophanes bag with their adorable logo. This shop understands displaying merchandise well, but they do sell their wares at a premium. Bonus: they have my personal favorite: dark chocolate seafoam. If you want to get a memorable gift for a birthday party, buy a $10-$15 gift certificate for your favorite kid, or kid at heart. Birthday fun from selecting to eating, Unlike Dillan's Candy Shop or FAO Sweets (at FAO Schwartz) in NYC where they have a "serve-your-own treats" by weight section, here "no touch" is more the mantra and you'll find minimums of what you can buy of each item. This is disappointing, since half the fun of a candy shop is giddily putting one of everything into your bag, trying it all, and ending up in a sugar haze. (At least, that's my preference.) This is a very rare occasion for me to go into a candy store and actually love it coming out because I am definitely not a huge sweets person (cupcakes aside!) and I rarely eat candy for any occasion including Halloween. However, this store really changed my perception. Yes it's kind of like every other candy store in those pier/wharf towns with the salty taffys and such except this place does not sell taffy. But their chocolates and candies are so nicely displayed it just makes for a pleasant buying experience. They have many different kinds of truffles as well as chocolate candies and I think they make their salted carmel FRESH IN STORE! It's probably the best carmel I've had! They also have this incredible shelf behind the counter with the largest and most variety of gummi candies I've ever encountered. I love candy stores. And this store has the ability to be five stars. Yet, it is a mere three for a VITAL reason. You are not allowed to use the scoopers to get your own candy. There are all these jars of candies I have never seen before in my life, but I am required to buy a dollar out of each jar and can not serve myself. THAT BLOWS. They really do have one of the best candy selections I have ever seen, but with the exorbitant prices and lack of self serve, I was so disappointed. I ended up purchasing caramel covered licorice. Yum. And also a giant apple pie candy cane. (Super expensive). Delicious, but my candy craving left unfulfilled because of the price and lack of self serve. I can scoop my own candy, thanks. I was walking through uvill and saw an older lady berating a young woman out in the open. After the older lady left, I saw the girl crying, so I asked her what happened. Turned out it was the boss of this store yelling at her employee for quitting at the last minute. This is extremely unprofessional of her to do in public, especially to the extent of making the employee cry at all. Also, the prices are ridiculous there. I was wary of coming here for the grape laces I needed to decorate a cake after reading all of the complaints in regard to price, but was pleasantly surprised. The Confectionery does offer a lot of pricey handmade chocolate, but pay attention to price per piece, not per pound (who buys $22/lb chocolate? who would need a lb of chocolate?) I walked out of here with a milk chocolate lollypop, a bag of grape laces, and a four piece chocolate box (dark salted caramel, milk salted caramel, raspberry framboise, creme brulee) for 11 and change. How have I missed this place?! I felt like a kid in a... well, okay... I felt like an ADULT in a candy store! They have bulk bins and pretties in glass cases. And the shop girl can offer you a sample if you are curious about one of their items. I didn't find them horribly overpriced but my purchase was under ten dollars for a decent sized bag of treats. And they had candies that I hadn't had since I was a child, so it was nice to take that walk down memory lane. Homemade marshmallows, chocolate-covered everything, brightly hued malted milk balls + Jordan almonds (one of my weakness) plus a plethora of Jelly Belly flavours. They offer gift wrapping with various coloured ribbons to make your present as pretty as what's inside. Check them if you're in the area. This is actually is my all time favorite candy store. It is pricey and a large selection of everything. I spend too much time here, but luckily I'm not here too often. Though when I am here, I take FOREVER to choose what I want because there's so much to select from. They have the old candies we used to love as children and new ones as well as a wide selection of salt water taffies. Their candies on the glass are so yummy and cute looking. This is a cute candy store but it is insanely expensive. The hubby and I bought 6 chocolates and it came to $17. So as cute as the shop is (and it is adorable with a great selection) - I would never buy more than one item and I would ask what they cost first. Plus I think the gal made a mistake and overcharged us. The most expensive items we bought were some peanut butter chocolates that were around $3-$4. But after we left I noticed we were charged $5.50 instead of $3 something for one of them. So it is annoying to be over charged by almost $2. And then some of the chocolates were not fresh - they had the dust on it that chocolate gets when it is old. read more

However, on Halloween day I went in with my boys to pick up a few goodies bags only to be treated poorly by the cashier. Not only did she not acknowledge our greetings but had a very snappy attitude that if it wasn't for my kids in there with me I would have left and said "no thank you" to my purchases. Fond memories of this place while growing up near UVillage. They have a beautiful display of the many different kinds of candy selections - from vintage, gummies, chocolates, sour, and many more, they have something for everyone. I have only tried their display case chocolates a couple of times but each time I thought they were overpriced for the lackluster quality of chocolate. But they do have delicious homemade carmels! While the prices are fairly steep, it is a candy shop in the middle of UVillage...but on the plus side, the high prices can help deter overbuying! Every year I buy my students candy canes from here. They are a $1 each but they have so many flavors and they are a good size. My students really like them. This year the lady helping me was awesome but her co-worker was a real pill. The lady helping me was really nice about bubble wrapping the candy canes as they break easily and was about to ring me up when her co-worker cut in front of her and rang up someone else. Its not like most of us go to places like this very often, if only because of the sugar/cavity factor, etc. But this place has some SERIOUSLY good candy and chocolate, though I think the whole decor/vibe of the place is decidedly feminine/lots of pink, etc. and NOT esp. kid friendly... So, basically chocolate and candy for adults. I mean, their fudge and animal shaped fruit gummies are OUTSTANDING, and thats just the few I've tried. Their service is good as well, the Asian young woman that helped me was very great to work with. A bit disappointing for a candy store. Of course being a carrier of sweet tasty things means you will definitely find something here to enjoy. But it lacks something. The place itself is small, neat and tidy. It's a grown-ups style candy store but carries all the penny candy and old varieties that adults will know. They carry a lot of foil covered chocolates, licorice, taffy and jelly belly jelly beans. I'm not a huge fan of any of those things, but if you are, this may be your place. They do have a nice chocolate case too and seemed to specialize in chocolate truffles. I ordered some of their beautiful pretzels to sample and bought a few truffles as a gift. The gift was indeed pricey so I do hope they were good. The pretzels were highly disappointing. First off, they were stale, which meant they had hung out in the case way too long. That's something I could look past if they weren't so pricey. What was unforgivable is that the peanut butter covered ones tasted like mint. Why? Because they had been next to mint chocolates in the case. As someone that worked for a few years in a small homemade chocolate shop, you know to store the mint candies separately from the others because the flavor can spread. I did however like the spicy Aztec chocolate, but it's available at other stores. I can only hope the truffles were good. read more

This store is insanely cute and has a very vintage-y feel to it. The candy displays in the middle of the store are very cute and always color coordinated. The displays on the walls are also cute. The chocolate covered things are my favorite (chocolate covered pretzels especially!). All in all, cute feel and cute display candies. I'm taking one star off because sometimes I feel like the candies from other brands is old. I've tried a few different things that I thought seemed like they had been sitting there for a while. Dust on some of the product, candy that was all stuck together in the bag, etc. I'm also taking another star off for the pricing. It's insanely expensive, and I feel like I've been to other candy places with better chocolates and candies for cheaper prices. If you're in U-Ville and need somewhere to stop and get candy, or if you just want to look around and check it out, I would recommend it. However, I don't think you need to go out of your way to come here- it's not the BEST candy store around. read more
