I chose a Spanish theme so we made patatas bravas, Gambas al Ajillo (Garlic Shrimp), Serrano Ham, Manchego, Pear and Carmelized Onion Puff Pastry Bites, and Vegetarian Paella. I cook and bake a lot, so it was great being able to pick Chef Matt's brain for tips and tricks to improve my skills. If you have a foodie in your life this is an awesome gift/experience for them!

I asked for help and the woman looked also and found the closest thing but she didn't think that was correct either but told me she'd charge me the listed sale price. When I came home I took a closer look at the rags' original price and they were listed for $23! So she gave me more than 50% off! That was pretty awesome.

Very disappointed with the customer service at Sur La Table…read more I purchased a coffee machine and returned to the store the very next day because I was not satisfied with it. The machine had only been tested by running water through it, which is a normal step to determine whether it functions properly and meets expectations. Despite this, the staff refused to accept the return. What made the experience even more frustrating was the attitude of the employees. Instead of focusing on helping a customer who had just made a purchase, they repeatedly questioned why I bought the machine in the first place. This felt dismissive, unprofessional, and completely irrelevant to the issue at hand. I understand that stores have return policies, but the way this situation was handled showed very little regard for customer satisfaction. A coffee machine is not something you can truly evaluate without at least setting it up and testing it. Refusing a next-day return after minimal use and then interrogating the customer about their purchase decision is not the level of service I expected from a specialty kitchen retailer. This experience has left me with a negative impression of Sur La Table, and I will think twice before making another major purchase there.

This is purely in regards to the recent international food festival event at Dulles Mall…read more We tried this vendor at a recent international food festival. While lines were long at most places, this spot had a shorter wait and someone nearby had a butter chicken wrap that looked promising. We ordered one wrap and their pani puri. The woman at the front was friendly and enthusiastic, which made us hopeful. The pani puri was served quickly, but unfortunately it lacked flavor--the sauce was bland, potatoes unseasoned, and the puri tasted stale. Still, we held out hope for the butter chicken wrap. That's when things went downhill. We waited nearly 30 minutes with a growing crowd of frustrated customers. We learned from others that the chicken in their wraps was ice cold. One woman had already complained and was waiting for a remake. Eventually, a new tray of chicken arrived, but the wraps were still coming out cold, with unmelted cheese and chilled chicken--clearly not "fresh" or properly heated. It was frustrating to see so much disorganization behind the scenes. If they were having technical or prep issues, it would've been better to pause service rather than serve food that wasn't safe or enjoyable to eat. It's a shame, because I've heard this business does meaningful work in the community with education and outreach. But the lack of preparation and poor food quality made for a very disappointing experience. We won't be returning, but I sincerely hope they take this as a learning opportunity and improve for future events.

When I asked what she meant, she said if I didn't like it I could walk away or she'd "write me up as trespassing." I was standing there holding the items I was about to pay for. I asked how a paying customer could be trespassing. She didn't answer, just repeated I could walk away or else. I asked for the manager. She said she was the manager. I asked for her manager. She said she works for herself and owns the store. Michaels is a corporate chain, not a franchise, so that's not possible. The cashier told me the actual store manager is Carla. Two other customers in the aisle saw the whole thing. Both put their items down and walked out. One said out loud, "I'm not giving you my money." I did the same. I've shopped at this location for years and never had a problem until today. Nobody should be threatened with trespassing for shopping with their kid. Not coming back until this is addressed.
