Brought my laptop in for a broken hinge and left with it in a much better condition than it was originally in! I wanted to salvage what was left of my laptop because other than that hinge, everything else ran fine. The goal was for me to leave the shop with a laptop that didn't creak every time I moved the screen back. Really quick service for a great price; Brian is also very friendly and explains what he's doing right in front of you. Brian is knowledgeable, fast, and a pleasure to do business with. I came to him with a destroyed hard drive and he was able to recover the data. He installed a new drive, transferred the recovered data, and made sure it worked. He removed some malware, installed upgrades, and I now have a computer I can rely on. Better still, I know he's my go-to guy for problems. Just knowing he's there, highly competent, and will charge a fair price for his work is a relief when technical problems arise. I had to use computer geeks to wipe my computer from the virus XP security 2012, saw that there were infos on the net to do that, but to be on the safe side i went to Comp Geeks. Without even looking at the computer they started suggesting i just reinstall windows, thanks for the time consuming advice, and asked 185 dollars to do that, as i insisted on first trying to just wipe the virus, they agree to do it for 75 $ on top of the 35$ diagnostic fee. (i told them the name of the virus but anyway). When they returned the computer, they said it was clear of the virus, but that windows was damaged and i would have to reinstall it anyway, my computer was able to access my email box and surf the net, but i should wait to long to reinstall windows. the missing program for windows to run properly was rundll32.exe. It took me exactly one hour by surfing the net to find a very easy way to just reinstall the missing link. So, either I AM the computer GEEK, or these guy are just plain incompetent (which i doubted), or more damaging to them, LAZY. So i would strongly discourage anyone to go there or encourage the so called geeks to actually found solutions that are in the best interest of their client. read more

Read these reviews so gave it a try. Having trouble installing a new HP printer. Told Mike what the issue was and he told me 2 things: 1) I'm not crazy! The install should have worked just fine & 2) Return it to the store! There's something WRONG with it. He's not a fan of HP and suggested I try another brand. Mike could not have been nicer!! Do NOT go to these people. My mother took them a laptop that was previously mine, that wouldn't connect via wifi (when all other devices at her home do). They did some kind of complete overhaul that UNINSTALLED a program I no longer have the CD for, so that's lost now and I have to re-purchase it. They assured us that nothing would be lost, but an entire $300 software program was gone. THEN the computer still wouldn't connect to the wifi, which was the purpose of bringing it in in the first place. She took it back and they charged her $25 AGAIN to, AGAIN, not be able even to find the problem, much less fix it. When I called on her behalf, they told me I'd have to pay for a home visit because they can't find the problem in the shop. (Again, all iPads, other laptops, iPhones, and other smart phones connect to the wifi with no problem. It's clearly not a network problem, but a problem with that computer specifically.) I then asked for a refund for the SECOND TIME SHE PAID TO HAVE A PROBLEM FIXED THAT WAS STILL NOT FIXED. She lives out of town for half of the year, so I told them I'd be coming by to get her refund. They refused to give it to me, saying they "are only required to refund the person who physically came in". WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. And incompetent. Really, I own a small business and prefer locally-owned businesses for everything -- but for computer problems, these guys can't cut it. Go to Best Buy. read more

I had a busted laptop screen and took it to Brian at Computer Geeks for repair. He replaced it for a fraction of the price of all competitors (I received quotes from various places in both NOLA and Metairie). Two months later, I thought my hard drive was busted after taking a really bad fall. Again, I took it to a place in Metairie to get a quote (since Computer Geeks isn't open on Sundays), and I was looking upwards towards $200 for labor, parts, and repair. I luckily saved it to bring to Computer Geeks the following day, and Brian did a quick fix (the cable simply needed to be reconnected) in less than a minute, free of charge. This guy provides excellent and friendly customer service, and knows what he's doing. He's a business owner who is good at what he does and isn't interested taking your $$ for anything unnecessary i.e. overpriced parts, deposits, or ridiculous hourly fees that many competitors charge. I highly recommend Computer Geeks for anyone looking for a quality, inexpensive, and reliable service! read more
