I feel like the experience was very unorganized. They forgot to give me my laptop charger and when he did I wasn't sure it was mine. My laptop didn't work well after a few days and was acting glitchy. I wish I brought it to the geek squad because I feel like it's a better guarantee and more professional. After spending an hour or so struggling to get the "Return" key re-installed in my 13" MacBook Pro ... and giving up ... I decided that I should see if "The Computer Geeks" could help. I grabbed the laptop and took a stroll over to the shop. When I walked in, a young girl announced that "someone was there" and her dad, Brian, greeted me. The shop is very cool. Brian has stacks of old computers, loads of bench space, and a nifty electric guitar on the wall. Brian started investigating the issue, all the while explaining why these MacBook Pro keyboards were so problematic. He's not wrong, it seems that once you have key that pops off, getting it back is usually impossible. Brian didn't let that stop him from trying, though. Brian spent a good bit of time trying to get my key back and working, but despite trying several things, it just was not behaving. Eventually he located an old broken MacBook Pro in a stack of other broken "parts only" devices and removed its "Return" key. This new key did securely snap in, but the key itself lacked the appropriate amount of lift. Brian got creative and added a layer of electrical tape to the bottom of the key, just in the center where it contacts the rubber cup that provides the bounce in the key itself. Eureka! I'm back in business. After all that, I asked, "what do a I owe you?" Brian replied, "10 bucks?". I said, "make it $20!". Great shop! Great shop owner! I'll definitely be back! read more

Brian took care of all my computer issues, and I had many. I left with my data perfectly transferred to my new desk top, a full explanation of how to access things, because my old one was over 10 years old, so things had changed in the computer world. He was patient, super quick and reasonable. He checked and updated my laptop as well and relieved me of two old PCs that needed to go to computer heaven. Brian is fucking awesome! My MacBook Pro stopped charging a month after I replaced the battery and nothing I tried fixed it. I brought it into Computer Geeks and after about 30 minutes, he figured out it was a faulty cable connection. I've worked with The Computer Geeks since I moved to New Orleans in 2015. Brian is fantastic! Recently I had to have the CD drive in my desktop computer replaced. I already had the replacement part from a previous experience. I called HP and was told that they could have a technician come to my house and install it for $400.00! Brian is the man to see to get your computer fixed. He gives it to you straight -- doesn't try to upsell stuff to you, just tells you like it is. If you know what's good for you, you will do what he recommends. If he can't fix your computer he'll tell you why, which is something everyone needs to know, and then won't charge you (which I think is very reasonable). If he can fix it, then he'll quote you whatever the price is -- and that price is the going rate for work like that. It's not at all a rip-off, like some places can be. read more

Awful! Brought two laptops in, one running slow, and the other's cursor wasn't showing on screen. I asked him to check these issues and to back up the data from both. *4* visits later, I picked them up, and Brian had removed the hard drives from each- something I absolutely didn't ask for, said they were beyond repair and I should throw them out. I took them to another repair place in Metairie, and found out that he put *someone else's * hard drive in one, and that the other had been returned to me with the wrong charger ( I mentioned this, but he argued with me that it was the correct charger). He was disorganized, negative, and bitched the entire time about the stupidity of people, and Apple computers. All of this cost me $250 and now another $650 to have his work fixed. read more

First of all, Brian was just amazing. My computer died over the weekend and got to the shop 15 minutes before the store opened. Brian walked in with me, listened to what I had to say, unscrewed my laptop, did a little trouble shooting... took my info and called me within 2 hours - my computer was repaired. I brought my ~8 year old macbook in for what was a common, easily fixed error, but wanted a pro to handle it just in case, and maybe get a more general opinion on its remaining lifespan. The error was simply the ram being dislodged, something i'd taken it to the apple store to fix in the past. Unlike the apple store, the employee (owner, i think, his name evades me), opened up my computer right in front of me, popped the ram card back in, and i was back to business. The whole encounter took maybe 2 minutes. Much better than making an appointment weeks in advance, still waiting around and getting upsold on new products. Not sure what Apple specifies in their warranties (it didn't apply to me given the age of my computer), but so long as you've got nothing to worry about there, the computer geeks will save you the immense headache of deal with the apple store and their "geniuses". And he handed it back free of charge, while I was nickle and dimed at the mall. Very simple repair, but highly recommended nonetheless. read more

Great service for a great price! I brought my laptop in because it refused to turn on and was angrily beeping at me just to spite me. Brian performed open-RAM surgery right in front of me and I walked out with a functioning laptop less than 2 hours later. he's quick, knowledgeable, and funny, which is a nice plus if you wait around as he works on your computer. the quick service cost 35$. i was quoted over 300$ by the geek squad at best buy and 150$+ by tulane tech connection for the same issue. hopefully, i'll never need his services again, but i'll recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone who asks! read more

I took my laptop in because the enter key was sticking. I had noticed that the bottom was not flat like before, but brushed that off. A little rocking never hurt anybody. Brian did not even have to touch one screw to diagnose a blown battery. It was swollen in the middle. Much longer and I would have had serious problems (and probably the grief of setting up a new computer.) Brian pulled the old battery, ordered a new one and installed and tested it for little more than the cost of the battery.
