The staff were really nice and had a lot of experience! They fixed my laptop. In just 2 days, OS was corrupted. I was in town visiting only for 4 days. My laptop broke down and wouldn't turn on. I went to 3 or 4 computer repair places in town and they all told me it would take at least one week to get it repaired (some quoted 2 weeks). I called the Computer Depot and they told me they could repair my computer in 2 to 3 days. They had to order a heatsink and fan for my laptop. They even gave me a loaner laptop to use in the mean time, which helped a LOT in doing my work. The following day, they called me saying the parts have arrived and that my computer was ready for pickup. They did a great job with my laptop; it works great now !!!! Thanks guys :) read more

WORST place you can ever go to!! I went in to get my iPhone 11 Pro back screen replaced for $310; told me it should be done in 3 hours. I go back and nothing and then states by tomorrow it'll be finished. I go back tomorrow to pick up my phone and notice the back screen was cheaply glued on and looked so horrible and on top of that the top of my screen had a couple of blue lines running across it so I showed him and then he says " did you get your phone screen repaired somewhere because I think they might of used a cheap one" at this point I realized these people don't know what they're doing at all. As he's still checking the phone the screen turns off, he turns it back on and a few seconds later it turns off again. He then starts to realize that it was him that had messed up my phone and tells me " maybe the machine we used might of been pressing on the phone to hard'. I responded with yes as before I dropped my phone off here it was working perfectly. He then said to leave and he'll try and see what was wrong with it. A week later he calls me and says he doesn't see anything wrong with it so he's going to ship it out to someone and he will pay for the cost of replacing it. Another week goes by and I get a call from him and says the people he shipped it out and said the motherboard was damaged; and to replace it would be very expensive so he would help me pay for half. To which I respond saying you said you would pay for the full cost of it and also you messed up the phone because when I dropped it off it was working perfectly. All he says is he'll help by paying half and then I'm okay how much will the damage be ? He responds with $800 so I pay half. I just said yes so I won't be wasting my time with them anymore and to just get my phone back. Three days later the phone is done I go pick it up pay the $400 and leave. Two moths later my screen stops working completely, when I turn it on it's just a black screen. So I spend a little over $700 here to get my phone fixed which $400 of those were to fix something they messed up. Instead of investing more money on this phone, I just got a new one cause who knows what computer depot did to my phone. Awful local business. They are trying to be like a Fry's but with horrible service and parts. A bunch of jerks work there who think they know it all when they actually dont. I like the fact that its under new management. I can't even believe what it was like before. It looks like they are posting fake reviews too to boost up their abysmal ratings. The Computer Depot - IT Services & Computer Repair Near Me - Bakersfield, California

I returned to Computer Depot after two years (Since my last review). The company went under new management (gee, I wonder why...) I had a simple request as a tech guy. A simple request in which any CERTIFIED computer repair person would know, and that was: "Do you have any intel atom boards?" If you've repaired computers in your lifetime, you should have some knowledge of what an Intel Atom is. These guys had NO idea. Absolutely none. The guy who I had the misfortune of meeting really didn't say a single coherent sentence to me. All I wanted to know is if they had any motherboards that were intel atom capable. The guy looked at me and pointed lazily towards the stack of motherboards they had and I said, "Do you know which ones can use the intel atom chip? OR how about any that have an intel atom already in the board? (You know, like those all-in-one solutions)", the guy looked at me then at the stack of boards and had absolutely NO idea what I was talking about and went into a minor panic in confusion. I was completely aghast at this situation, it was a SIMPLE request. IF you had them, cool, then what were they? IF not, then say, 'no sorry, we do not, we could order (insert board name) for you". Not even that! He mumbled a bit, arms flailing back in forth with his hands in his jacket pockets and just had no idea what the heck an intel atom was, or for that matter what an ITX form factor is. These are things a basic computer repairman should know! Which now leads me to believe (and strongly believe) that these people are not officially certified to work on computers. That's right, through this scenario, I can tell that they have zero legitimate certifications to work on anyone's computer. That's a BIG problem because these people go THROUGH your machine in order to fix it. You are trusting these people with your sensitive and private information such as photos, tax information, credit cards, or whatever else you may have on your computer, and these people don't even have a basic understanding of computers. That is SCARY. This place will not be around for long if they continue doing this, that's for sure. ** PEOPLE - BEWARE. ** Go to a place, ask if they're certified, or else! P.S. You can tell that I'm a bit furious and the reason for this is the people in Bakersfield deserve better, they should not be conned in getting their machines repaired by a bunch of kids who have no idea what they're doing. read more

I wish there was a way we can give negative stars on here. My husband has been building and custom ordering computers/laptops for years for himself and others. So when it comes to computer talk, he ranks right up there with those who are even A certified. Anyways, we had an Asus high performance, custom gaming laptop that he had bought six years ago. AMAZING laptop. Took ANYTHING we could throw at it and then acted like, "Is that all you got?" It could run a game, render a video and several other things at the same time and you wouldn't lag AT ALL. Anyways, the DC port pin broke off into the power cord and my husband didn't want to take all the time that it would take to take the laptop completely apart and sotter in a new DC port. The pin would have been easy enough to take out of the plug with a pair of flat wire cutters. Two weeks after we dropped it off (was supposed to take only 3-5 days) I called them asking what was taking so long. This is the conversation I had: Me: What seems to be the problem? It was supposed to be done a week ago. Him: We broke a part in the laptop so we had to order it and wait for it to come in. Me: EXCUSE ME?! Him: No no no, I'm sorry. The new part we ordered was broken when it came in and we had to reorder it. At that point, I was shocked and didn't know what to think! When we finally picked up the laptop, a week later, the power cord was totally unusable because they had somehow shoved the pin deeper into the cord and would be impossible to get out. We also found a spot of dried super glue on the top of the lid. Which we didn't understand at the time. When we brought the laptop home, and bought a new cord for it we started having some bad issues. It would freeze, would no longer run in high performance mode. We had to use it in its lowest power mode for it to not get all wacky. Then it started burning out the power adapters. We finally sold it and the guy that bought it, who was super cool about it and is more of a tech than my husband, started telling us what all he found wrong with it. I will be quoting him, "Consistent blue screening, which means either there is a mad memory or there is a bigger issue.... They broke the case and had to glue it like morons... and they may have shocked some components as well if they broke the DC jack so easily....That's where the glue came from, they broke a few clips and one screw bracket.... They just didn't care or weren't careful but what's worse is that they didn't tell you about it." So, all that to say..... DON'T EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!! We had to sell an $1800 laptop for $300 because of all the damage they had done to it. I won't even get started on the HORRIBLE and UNPROFESSIONAL customer service. Please, I have read ALOT of good things about SWAT PC. They have ALL 5 STAR REVIEWS. Please, save yourself some heartache and go to them. So I took in my Viking pro 10 to get the digitizer replaced an the tech told me it was gonna be hard to fix an the cost would be 150.00 to replace a screen are you out of your mind .Then the tech told me I was better off buying a new tablet. I was in need of a water pump for my computers water cooling system. I went to this location to get a replacement only to be informed that they no longer sell just the pumps and that I had to replace my water cooling setup with a newer one. I thought that was weird seeing as how I know they still make pumps for the system that I had. I ended up purchasing a new setup because I could not use my computer to order a new pump. The water pump setup was over priced by like $30 and to make it worse the staff treated me like I had no idea what I was doing. I have been building computers for 21 years. I do not appreciate being treated like that and will never recommend this place for any computer related problems or services. read more

I went in for a couple video cables. There were two employees and no other customers, but neither employee seemed to care that I had come in. When I walked over and stood in front of one, he looked up from the computer screen in front of him and asked what I needed. I told him I needed some cables, and he pointed and said, "They're over on the back wall." The back wall was a mess and if one of the employees would have bothered to walk over and help me, I might have found what I was looking for. I am satisfied with the repair made to my laptop. HOWEVER... when I picked it up, the outer edges of the cover were scratched in several places... it wasn't like that when I dropped off my laptop. I brought the scratches to the attention of the store owner/proprietor, whose reaction was 'neutral.' I was upset but didn't get belligerent with the man. He had to see that I was displeased, yet his only verbal response was, "I've been in business for 12 years, 'my techs use T-shirts to protect the computers they work on.'" I thought, 'T-shirts made from sandpaper?!' Although I was mentally 'fuming,' I left it at that. Late in the day, Moe, the manager, called me and we discussed the scratches. Moe offered to replace the scratched cover on my laptop. I thanked him but declined, saying that it's appreciated but unnecessary. I explained to Moe that I used a dab of toothpaste to rub out the scratches as best I could. The scratches are less noticeable than they were. read more

I recently brought my cell phone to this establishment to have my screen replaced. when i received it back i looked at it made sure i could unlock it access my apps and every thing seemed to be ok. Once i tried to make a phone call ;it is a phone after all; i found my microphone did not work and i was forced to use my speakerphone. I called and spoke with justin and explained that my microphone no longer worked he said ok bring it back in .After many tries they were unable to fix there mistake and refused to fix it. At this point they are accusing me of lying and saying that i probably found my phone on the street and just trying to come up on them. Recently I brought my computer to this place. First off they have a sign out front that says $39.00 all labor. When I went in they told me $39 to diagnose the problem, $39.00 to reformat the hard drive and $20.00 to back up some pictures. When I asked about the sign out front... They gave me some excuses about not applying to my computer. Against my better judgment,I left my computer. They told me it would be done on Sunday. Monday came no call. I called on Tuesday, they told me they had called on Monday and left a message. Not true. They told me they were unable to fix my computer and it "might" be the mother board. Might be the mother board? They don't know? I thought they were a computer repair shop. anyways I go to pick it up and they try and charge me for work they didn't do.... 39.00 to reformat the hard drive and 20.00 to back up pictures. While arguing with the technician a man walks up and asks the technician if the hard drive was reformatted....he tells him no. Lol. The gentleman tells him to refund me the $39.00 dollars we had already paid... they give us are computer and the screws are stripped and missing. The side panels different and when we show them this they tell us were lying to them. The man again behind the counter comes over and says he's going to review the security tapes and get back to us... Never heard from him again... I hate leaving bad reviews but if any shop deserves it this one takes the cake.... read more

Took my computer in for repair as it was constantly shutting down while working on it. They said it was the hard drive and that I needed a new video/graphics card. I received a call from another employee stating that I didn't need the video card and that the employee who told me I needed it was an "Intern and should not have told me anything". I had the hard drive replaced - when I got home it shut down on me again. I took it back and was told the video card was the problem. I asked if replacing the card would stop it from shutting down. They said it would - they were wrong as it shut down again. I took it back again and they said it was "my settings". Each time I took it back they treated me like I was stupid...300$ later. I decided to take it to Bakersfield Bytes...30$ later they fixed it and informed me that it was the mother board. They also said that I didn't need the video card and got ripped off. Computer Depot gives the entire computer repair industry a bad name and they are a reason people don't trust many computer repair stores. read more

Called ahead to see if they had a part in stock. Asked no less than five times in five different ways to confirm that the part was proper and would work for my application. Guy on the phone assured me that it was the right part and that it would work. Drove 30 minutes through traffic only to discover that he hadn't actually checked to see if the item was the proper one. It took 1 second of me looking at the item to see that it wasnt the right part. If he had just simply gotten out of his comfy chair and actually looked at the item box he would have seen very clearly that the item was not proper for me. Instead, he has me waste over an hour of my time coming down to this shop and returning back to the office empty handed. This was especially bad because the part was critically needed at the office and it put us behind another hour for no reason! I find this to be extremely rude and unprofessional. Save yourself some money & frustration by avoiding this place. Took my computer in for diagnostics. They said it needed a new CPU fan. They replaced the fan & when I got it back, it was worse. I could at least play my games before I took it in, now it completely crashes about 10 minutes into gameplay.
