if zero star's were possible they would wear the badge proudly. i brought in my laptop to be "looked" at. Unfortunately, it was disassembled and fondled so much it ended up in worse condition than it was in. Not to mention the person assisting me was rude. ill tempered and cut me off several times as I expressed my concerns. now i am stuck with a computer which no longer works and have not been reimbursed. i did not sign anything allowing my property to be taken apart. after overhearing the comments made by one employee of the speed of the computer. now my computer no longer boots past the loading screen. i have lost access to numerous family photos. even the video birth of my only child can not be restored. this is a major problem and the service is very poor. i have been coming here for years, before the relocation. I personally will never spend another cent at this place. hospitality is non-existent, knowledge doesn't mean correct. After taking my laptop to another repair shop, it was discovered that some of it's original components had been replaced, without my permission. This place is so unprofessional. read more

Spilled sweet tea on my 2011 MacBook Pro June 4 2015, but my computer did not crash. I keep and cover around my computer as well as a keyboard cover. So I thought maybe nothing got into the computer. Well I was right and I was wrong. Few days later my computer would not turn on or charge. At this point I knew I needed to get my computer fixed and I knew the apple store was not a option. Between waiting a week or two for them to see me; as well as price, I decided to find smaller computer shop. Checked yelp and from the reviews "The Computer Cellar" looked like my best option and it was. Only negative (if you can call it that) Not the easiest place to find. On 9th street but the sign for the actually store is really small so I passed the door about three times. After finding it everything was extremely easy, I spoke with Gabriel told him what the problem was he gave me a run down of what they would try to do (payed a $50 deposit) and left. Two days later got a call back saying I was lucky because the spill did not fry anything it just got over my charging port. But they cleaned it and everything looked to be working fine. The cost $75. He also talk to me about ways to upgrade my computer so I can get more years out of it. The cherry on top of the entire situation was I brought in a few PC desktop parts for recycle or store credit if any of the parts had any worth. Went to computer cellar for a laptop HD upgrade. The technician suggested cloning the drive which would be less expensive. Got a call to pick up the computer the same day (super fast service!). Unfortunately, the laptop would not boot up for an unknown reason. They took it back to reformat the HD and 3 hours later, it was done. No extra charge, which I truly appreciated. I have a Macbook Pro mid-2010 model that stopped working suddenly and was beeping once upon reboot. After doing a little bit of research online, I had a certain feeling that it has something to do with my memory slots or RAM. However, just to be safe I brought it in to a nearby apple certified store (in the Southpoint mall). They suggested that I change the logic board instead that would require me to leave my computer with them for up to 5 days and shell out nearly 500 bucks. Not convinced, I approached Computer Cellar (looked them up on google) and they vindicated me by saying that there was indeed an issue with my RAM as opposed to the logic board. One of my DDR3 RAM sticks (2 GB) blew out. Dan was in charge of this process and he handled it like a thorough professional while Pam was a good help. My computer was fixed within hours (this may have depended on their prior work load). If small businesses like these are as good as the 'big bosses' out there that are more than willing to squeeze out the last penny from our pockets, I'd rather give the small businesses a benefit of doubt and support them. The CC was recommended to me by a friend who owns a successful, local IT Co. They were extremely helpful to me when I brought my 4.5 yr. old Dell OptiPlex 9010 PC to them to restore & recover my hard drive. They (1) managed to recover a majority of my priority-content in just a couple of days, (2) installed an alternative email program for no charge, (3) educated me a variety of topics ... all for an almost absurdly low cost. They have also been very helpful to me with minor telephone consults (Pam)--at no charge--saving me the trouble of coming or bringing my equipment in for no good reason. I'm in the process of deliberating with them again re: a home-visit for setting-up and fine-tuning a revised home network with new computers and possibly a router-modem. Had a Macpro problem. Took it in. Was a quick fix, needed a cache reset (or some such) - couple of keys and voila. Guy didn't want any money for it - suggested a cash donation for coffee if I felt like it! I stopped by ATM, got some cash, and then some bagels and cream and coffee, and dropped them off. My two year old Asus died last night. It literally screamed as it was dying. I've never heard anything quit like the sound it made. I actually regret buying the Asus but that is a review for another time and for Best Buy. So after multiple attempts to get my Asus back on and running I decided that I'd pop by Geek Squad to see if they could have any luck. I waited in line at the Best Buy at New Hope Commons for a solid ten to fifteen minutes and when I finally arrived at the counter, a rude, terse and unhappy man told me that I needed an appointment. I then asked if I could leave my Asus piece of crappola with him for a diagnosis later in the day when he didn't have a line. I was abruptly scolded with the words, " There is paper work to fill out and that takes time." So essentially...no and piss off. My patience had ebbed and so I went to sarcasm, which is the way of my people, informing senor overworked and unhappy that it would have been nice if he had told me that an appointment was required prior to me standing on line for ten to fifteen minutes. I left Best Buy and did a quick Google search whereby I discovered The Computer Cellar on Ninth Street. I hot footed over to The Computer Cellar and the took me without an appointment; had diagnosed the problem with the Asus piece of crappola and quoted me a price to fix the computer; all without rudeness, terseness or unhappiness and all within an hour of me leaving the Asus with them. read more

I was talking with the lady up front and all of a sudden was bombarded from a guy in the back that was very loud and very abrupt and disrespectful. They did fix the computer but I cant say that I liked the service that I received there. This guy treats you like your an idiot and uses big terms to impress you that he knows more than you and over powers you into repairing your computer and tries to tell you yours is no good and you should buy one of his.
