Discounts on all new trades and graphic novels, dollar bin books, heavily discounted used trades, and a massive selection. It's heaven for a comic book nerd. They buy collections and are female run which is awesome. This place holds the crown as my favorite comic book shop which is saying something because I go to A LOT of shops. I went down there on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago, and right in front was a homeless man and a pile of what was very likely human shit smeared on the sidewalk lol. Now, I know this isn't necessarily a fault of the comic shop itself, and I do sympathize for the city's unhoused population, but having that being my first impression of their new location was kind of jarring. Never encountered this issue at the old location. I do plan to visit again though, and maybe next time can have a more pleasant experience and give the full five stars.

This comic shop used to be meticulously maintained and setup as a shrine to all things comics…read more There used to be a replica "Batcave" that ran the films and cartoons on a dedicated monitor "The Batcomputer". Statues, toys, maquettes and more could be found in pristine condition inside glass cases. It was a cool little spot. It was heartbreaking to see it this weekend. Its more Halloween store, or budget costume store now. There are still comics, but they're pushed to the margins. There's only a limited number of new issues on shelves, while back issues are disorganized, some bagged, most not, and packed tight in there boxes. Nearly all of the statues are gone, and the few that are left are caseless, dusty and showing visible signs of wear and tear. With Hi-de-ho gone, there are less and less options for comics fans over on the westside. The comics deserve better than this, and so do the fans.

Superman. Marvel. Bruce Lee. Figurines, bobbleheads, comics, and my favorite, the owner's artwork, signed, starting at only 15 bucks. I spoke to the owner about art, artists, vintage comics and starting his shop during the pandemic. Super nice, friendly, talented, it's exciting to find a new place like this, filled with great deals, icons and heroes. I walked out with a prize picture for my wall, and a skip in my step. It's nice to see artists thriving on the west side of Los Angeles in times like these! You know you need a giant superhero for your desktop. An original Bruce Lee on your wall. If you can't find it, they will help you. they likely have it. We so need more real book stores. Sometimes I have to drive pretty far to get to one. You never know what you will find here. We love owner and the entire staff is just super knowledgeable. You will love this place. Don't trip over some of the books. The place is not huge and those books have to go somewhere. I think it is important to support any bookstores still standing. As I have said before soon they will be gone. What a shame.

It has the kind of atmosphere that invites you to slow down, grab a book, and settle in for a while. Though small in scale, the shop is thoughtfully laid out and manages to offer a little bit of everything. The seating area, with its comfy chairs, rugs, and soft lighting, really adds to the charm and makes the space feel lived-in and inviting. There's even a sweet, sectioned-off area just for the littles, which is a lovely touch. We didn't manage to spot the store cat (must've been on a break), but we did find some great books, so no complaints there. Parking was easy thanks to the large shared lot, which made the visit even more stress-free. We'll definitely be back.

Giant Robot formerly published a bimonthly magazine from 1994 to 2011. There is also an extension store called GR2 Gallery (2062 Sawtelle Blvd) located less than a block away from the main store and GR2 mainly focuses on art exhibits while also selling a limited selection of gift items like Japantown/Sawtelle mugs. [Parking]: Parking is always difficult to find in Sawtelle. Visitors can circle around the neighborhood for street parking (I got lucky and found a spot on Beloit Ave just a block away) or try validated parking at Marshalls or Nijiya Market Sawtelle Store. [What to see here]: The shop offers fun housewares, gifts (e.g. Rolife 3D Puzzles), stationery items (a very small selection), T-shirts, varsity jackets, hats, art books, art prints, plushies (e.g. Miffy and Snoopy), and toy figures (e.g. Smiski blind boxes). What really stood out to me were pins, some of the unique jackets, and the Japantown/Sawtelle mugs. Please note that the store limits entry to 8 guests at a time. [Conclusion]: While I can't say the store sells gifts that fit everyone's taste, the shop has cultural significance and deep roots in Asian American pop culture.
