Only critiques I would give it would be to have a little more for the other collectors. And what I mean by that, have a couple more action figures, Funko, pops, etc. that will probably bring in some more people for sure. The other thing would bethe music playing in the speakers. Didn't care too much for the rock, but still all in all, nice place to go. There's plenty of parking and easy to find.

The emphasis, though, is primarily new and recent comics. Passing through on a rainy afternoon I was pleased to find its location is near a few important stops in Pasadena, and there's some parking available in the private lot. I was mostly there to check out the selection and see if they specialized in anything unique. Not to say they don't, but it's still a well-stocked store. I was the only customer and enjoyed the classic jazz playing in the background. Pro Tip: Most established comic shops have subscription plans paid annually, or one-time up front. A customer goes through Comic Book Geek to pick their titles and sometimes preferred cover art, and the shop pulls their requests and holds them until the customer picks up the stash.

The had comics for half a centuries ago to most recent versions. There were comics of all popular, lesser known, smaller, bigger all sorts of varieties. In front side of the store, there were kids versions too. Other than comic, they also had posters, pop art figurines, neon superhero signs and few other things. The store was mostly organized and boxes were labelled. But needed a lot of patience to dig through their giant inventory. Some of the most sought after ones were placed on the wall shelves by the register. My daughter picked couple of Sonic books. The staff member was friendly and quickly did the checkout. They accepted cash and cards. While we were at the store, we saw many comic fans coming into the store. They do not allow drinks and food being carried around. There's a table in front for guests to leave them while walking around the store.

I was a regular customer and came in multiple times a week. I had one bad interaction with an…read moreemployee and left an honest review. Instead of handling it professionally, the owner messaged me personally, called me entitled, accused me of throwing a tantrum, and ultimately banned me from the store. I could've handled the interaction better, but I wish that same courtesy had been returned. The store is also consistently hot and uncomfortable inside, which has been an issue on many of my visits. They don't have A/C, but the owner will respond to reviews saying they do and it happens to be broken that day. Don't go during peak summer hours. That said, I want to be fair. The pricing is good and they have a pretty solid selection. I genuinely enjoyed shopping here before this happened and wish things had ended differently. Took one star off because the owner is accusing me of flipping. Theres no money in that lol. I go in and buy 3-4 DIFFERENT comics at a time. Even if I tried the most I could make is maybe a dollar. Their response is a good example of how they handle things unprofessionally.

I used to be an avid collector in the 90s, and Bali Books in Alhambra was my sanctuary. Every other store, no matter how good the selection, just felt impersonal. I recently decided to start reading issues in real time instead of waiting for TPBs, and of course that meant I needed a pull list. One stop at Comics VS Toys and dammit I feel like a 12 year old all over again. The owner, Ace, immediately took my requests and helped fill in some recent back issues I missed out on. Though I did enjoy the t-shirts that they had on display. I am a comics fan and, if I had all day, I would be able to go through this entire place's inventory. But I found it wasn't organized in a way that I found easy to navigate. There were definitely some comic favorites of mine, or titles that I was interested in, but I came upon them randomly. And most weren't where I was expecting them. Interestingly enough, the comics were exclusively (or almost exclusively) Western comics. I didn't see any manga. There are, of course, shops entirely devoted to manga, but I've seen few comics shops that didn't have a few titles, given their popularity. The clerk on duty was neither outgoing nor unfriendly. Which, honestly, I'm fine with. When it comes to stores with lots of merchandise, as long as I can find someone to ask a question, I'm happy. I don't need someone breathing down my neck. While I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, I might browse if I was in the area.

If you love pinball, they have cool machines here. I saw pulp fiction, jurassic park, and evil dead machines, for example. Their comic book shop isn't the largest one in LA; however, they are well stocked here. Check their website to see their inventory of unique items. If you keep an eye on their calendar they will have interesting events here. My wife has seen comic book signings here. Last week they had Jeff Hays, famous for the "Dungeon Crawler Carl" audio books, who was on site to do a reading of "Absolute Batman #1" for Batman Day. On top of this, they have some nicely curated gems. My wife was able to get a curated stack of "Vampire Hunter" comics that was from the Buffy universe. Next door, they have a coffee shop with ample seating/table space. Saw a group of people playing D&D there. The summation of all these things is what makes this spot in Eagle Rock special. We didn't even mind contending with the terrible parking in the area. Because I live in Long Beach, I'll probably order things from here on their website; however, I'm glad that we came.

The staff on the floor are engaging and genuinely helpful when you're searching for a particular find. That said, my experience selling books was disappointing. The process felt impersonal, and the seller/owner was not particularly engaging. One example: I brought in a brand-new book that originally cost $40 and was offered only a $1 store credit. I understand used bookstores have to make a profit, but the experience left me feeling like my books would have been better off in a friend's library. Great place to browse and buy, but I would lower expectations if you're planning to sell.

Their selection is very comprehensive: ranging from Western superhero comics, to alt comics to manga horror. The store is very clearly divided, so the monthly comics are stored on one wall and the trade paperbacks and hardcover editions in the rest. I really enjoyed the minimalistic design: the white walls emphasize the colorful volumes much like a gallery space would its artwork. The clerk on duty was pleasant and helpful as several people came and went in the short time I was there. Comics are typically priced by publisher, so it's unlikely you would be surprised by the price of any of the inventory. Will definitely return.

This gem is still located in the heart of the SGV. Thanks to the kind owners it remains an outlet for a different form of entertainment. Both English and Chinese manga are available, and custom orders can be made. There are quite a few series that are hidden gems, and the owners are very helpful with any questions. It's clean, organized, reasonably priced and even has a large meeting room for events for manga loving fans.

The store offers rental services as well as purchasing books. Most of the manga/comics are in Chinese, however, they are currently expanding their english catalogs. There is a sitting area with comfy chairs where you can read their manga like a library. The owner was very nice and welcoming. We chatted about things and the store has been in his ownership for about 6 months. I look forward to not having to drive all the way to LA just to buy manga.

When I went here recently (I come here often), they had an author speaking upstairs, and plenty of chairs out for an audience. Upstairs, they have tons of boxed cards and single cards, and again, lots of things that you may have not known you needed - or wanted to gift someone. I can truly spend hours in this bookstore. They also have additional seating and another drink menu inside as well. Literally, something for everyone! The prices are normal and I'm so happy to support local business in any way that I can. They also share a parking lot in the back with Total Wine and a couple other retailers. I had no idea! But definitely helpful.
