I see this place swaying people the wrong way. I think its more of an acquired taste. This shop is not for the occasional comic book reader that Is looking for something specific. This shop is for the person that wants to spend some time lost in cases and shelves and discovering something they didn't Intend on finding. I probably wouldn't recommend asking for help, I've never seen anyone behind the counter actually leave the counter. This place definitely has its quirks! I like to look at all of the collected memorabilia that is displayed throughout the store, while my boyfriend gets lost looking for things he didn't know he needed.

This converted gas station is on the corner of Washington Place and Centinela. On a hot day the inside is literally a hot tin can, so be prepared to sweat. There's a variety of comic books, books, collectibles and my favorite: Funko Pops. The majority of the Funkos are commons but I came across a Rocky Horror Picture Show Funko which is vaulted and selling elsewhere for $40, but I got it for $12. However, the box had tape on it, so I am guessing its a buy back. If you're looking for mint boxes, check carefully before purchasing. On my visit there's just 1 guy, who wasn't the most talkative but he did greet me. It's a good place to stop if you're searching for common Funkos.

Super nice, friendly, talented, it's exciting to find a new place like this, filled with great deals, icons and heroes. I walked out with a prize picture for my wall, and a skip in my step. It's nice to see artists thriving on the west side of Los Angeles in times like these! You know you need a giant superhero for your desktop. An original Bruce Lee on your wall. An old comic in mint condition to complete your collection. And to applaud small businesses like this one. This place has it all. Many thanks for my amazing picture!! You are so cool and talented. We walked in, she glared at us- I tried not to think much of it, but as she was finishing ringing me up I looked up to thank her and she was literally grimacing at me, and this was after she tried to hurriedly ring me up without even asking if I was a rewards member (I am) or anything else. I keep trying to give her the benefit of the doubt because I also work in retail, but girl just seems miserable. Literally I have NO other issues with any other employee there, everyone else has been so kind so I brought my review up to 4 stars from 3. But if you're going to give me a dirty look Jasmine, wait until I turn around. This is a smaller location but I'll continue to visit, I just really hope Jasmine isn't there- it's always uncomfortable when she is.

Honestly so disappointed in the customer service of this location now…read more This is a long one. I used to go to the previous location and customer service was always on point. Sales associates were friendly, helpful, and always down to talk about books. Now... I feel like I'm a bother for just wanting to buy my books and leave. This experience was the one that kinda left me wondering why do I bother with this location... (It's the closest location to me soo I guess there's that) First waiting 5 mins when multiples registers are open and only one other patron making a purchase for an associate to finally walk back to their register to help us. Young lady ended up being super friendly and all was fine - she's why this gets a redemption of 3 stars - Stardew pin gal you're cool. My family and I walk out I see a bookmark I wanted and u turn back in line. I get helped by a different woman - blond curls (really pretty hair, also I know both your names but don want you in trouble just disappointed) - who seemed completely bothered by helping me. Ok whatever we all have our days. She lets me know my membership is expired...something stardew lady missed. I ask damn ok I wasn't informed can I bring back my books return and repurchase and re up my membership. Now she seemed doubly annoyed and bothered. Come back in a few days she says. I let her know: no no we just walked out with the books they're here. She responds I know just come back in two days..... I look back at the line - empty. Umm so you want me to come back?? Yeah and just talk to whoever is here and explain what you want. Confused I walked out and hear her sigh and when I looked back the three sales associates went back to being huddled and chatting. Double checked policy.... Nope not a policy thing returning books.... TO REPURCHASE WITH MY REUPPED SUB is not against policy. Called a different store they said yeah they should've just done it in the moment. Checked stores hours not close to closing so that's not it. There have been other instances of weird stand off behavior that has left me wondering WTF is going on... Look y'all I'm not gonna tell you how to live your lives or where you should be working, just remember both sides of the counter are human and in a world where being a BIPOC is getting more and more dangerous, a friendlier attitude can go a long way.

I have never left a Marshall's crying, especially not on my literal 30th birthday…read more I took the day off of work today for my birthday, and decided to spend the day at Marshall's. I spent three hours meticulously looking for all of the 50% off holiday items. At one point a staff brought a huge cart of holiday candles to restock the Christmas section so I directly took from her cart. At checkout I was told 2/3 of my items were NOT part of the holiday section. I pleaded that there are snowflakes on the lip balm, the palmers lotion said HOLIDAY GIFT SET, and the names of the scents of the candles to which I was told no. A manager and another staff came over to say ok to the lip balm once she saw the snowflake. Then validated her and said she's right these are just red candles it's a no. I one by one picked them up and pleaded "mistletoe noir isn't holiday?" She said ok fine you can have that one. I literally said wow I didn't realize I needed to negotiate and try to convince you for each of these?! As I went and read the names of these candles. She said you don't need to convince me I just didn't read the bottom were really busy. I said then why are saying no before looking?! (Mind you I come here often, there was no one in line, normally line is around the isle and I wait 20min) she stormed away. The way she talked to me was so beyond unacceptable and mean. NO apology for telling me no when not checking. I told the cashier I'm so beyond upset right now this is not how I wanted to feel on my birthday. Moral of the story Barbara didn't let me take many of the candles I am certain were holiday, ultimately I literally got on my car and started sobbing. What a crazy way to spend my day off, and my birthday. Ultimately while Barbara was extremely rude, the ultimate problem is that the items should be in the system as holiday or not instead of letting staff debate with customers. Please change the holiday system for the future, thank you.

Service: All of the Marshal's staff I have ever interacted with in my 8 years of frequenting this Marshals location have been polite and helpful with all reasonable requests for assistance. I never have made an unreasonable request so I really can't compare against that. Selection: Marshals has a great number of standard types of items readily available but it is not a consistent in specific products. AKA if you don't get it now it probably won't be there next time you come. That does make for a fun shopping experience to find new things. Value: Some things have great reduced price value.
