This was my first time to the Comedy Zone and I was surprised to find that it was a situation where you sit at a table and get served. I was disappointed when the service wasn't that great. It took 15 minutes to get greeted and only then because we asked what was up. Apparently our server was new and hadn't completely become accustomed to the business yet. The food, however, was amazingly yummy. The options were plentiful. Especially the appetizers. We got: fried pickles, potato chips, mozzarella sticks and cheese fries. Each of these were so so so good. The homemade potato chips were HUGE! And paired perfectly with the ranch. I'm hungry just thinking about it now. The show was also great! I would definitely go back to another show, even if it wasn't a comedian I already knew. I won't hold the slow service against them as sometimes stuff happens.

Fun night at Comedy Zone in Greensboro. We saw E J Speaks and friends. Service was prompt and friendly. I'd suggest get there early to get a good seat and faster service as they get busy quick. I hadn't been there in a long time but will be back soon. Food was great!

A sold out night had the staff moving quickly but I wasn't disappointed with our meal. My first time was memorable.

This was my first time attending a comedy show here and I absolutely loved it! I loved the layout and atmosphere of the place. I had VIP tickets so I was close to the stage. Our waitress was amazing, very attentive and very welcoming and friendly. The food was like typical bar food but very good! I had the spiked lemonade which was very tasty, it had blueberry vodka. The loaded nachos were good and the garden salad was one of the best salads I've had in a while. The show was amazing, I definitely recommend coming here and will definitely be coming back. This is a great date night spot, group activity, or even to come on your own.

Quality talent in an intimate space. I had a great time checking out the Comedy Zone for the first time when I went to see Joe Machi. Purchasing a ticket online was easy and they'll frequently run BOGO specials for undersold shows that are available to those on their mailing list. They are set up with chairs and tables, and offer food and beverage service. I got an espresso- based cocktail and enjoyed it quite a bit! I didn't end up getting food, but might next time. There's really not a bad seat in the venue, though there is a VIP area available for a small surcharge. The VIP area tended to be full of what seemed to be regulars. Also, the crowd tended to be older, but I was comfy there as a (relatively) young person. I feel like the space could be updated to be a bit more vibrant/modern. But, it seems to be suiting the current audience. Overall, I plan to check this place out again soon. They have a great tick tocker I like coming in the fall and it'll be interesting to see if the crowd demographics change.

Long line around the parking lot to get in

We came here to see Gary Owen preform. It was a good show! But my review will focus on the venue which is the more important part. We came to the second show at 9pm, and were surprised to find a line of cars out into the road. Still, we got parked pretty quick, and I appreciate free parking which is becoming more and more rare for event venues. Unfortunately, it took a surprisingly long time to get into the venue once parked. There was a line of people around the parking lot past a very smelly dumpster, and we ended up standing in line 35 minutes before we got to the door. It seems to be so slow because they seat each group one at a time with menus. I assume this is to prevent people who didn't pay extra from sitting on the front row, but it makes for a very slow entry process. We were seated at a high top table along with another couple we didn't know. It took about 20 minutes to get a bottled beer (not counting the time to see the server in the first place), and about 35 minutes to get food once ordered. Our waitress was friendly but she seemed very over worked. It seems like things could run more smoothly here with a few extra staff. Food and drinks (including a frozen cocktail) were good once they arrived. They were, however, expensive for what you got, and I was really disappointed to see a 15% forced gratuity added to the ticket for a party of 2 people. There was a notice that they were forcing this to help retain staff. The show started about 45 minutes late, which I suspect is related to it taking so long to get people inside. However, it still ran almost 2 hours so I don't feel like we were shorted on the duration of show. Overall we enjoyed the performer, but the experience with the Comedy Zone itself was mediocre. I haven't been here in many years, but it seems degraded from my memories of past visits. I might still come back, but it's not high on my list for date nights.

Second trip over the weekend and with knowing what to expect it was much more enjoyable. We have decided we may eat before or after going because our stomachs have not agreed with the food either time we have been. The drinks are pretty average priced. Our waitress this time around was not very friendly and getting drinks refilled was not easy so half the meal was spent without drink. This was not the same as last time so we are hopeful it was a one off situation because everyone else we have dealt with has been very nice! The bathrooms were clean and stocked and the overall cleanliness in the main room was much better this time. Again, we stick to saying this is worth a trip in Greensboro and we encourage you to go and support live comics! We have more trips planned in the near future!

Place could be hard to find at first unless you are a regular. I did love the comedy show and the service was great. The hostess takes you to your seat right away. The place does get crowded, so buy o your ticket early. Plenty of parking space. The food menu does have plenty to choose from. Drink choices are great as well. Just have patience when the place is crowded for your food and drinks. Ambiance is great, perfect for large groups.

Been here a couple of times this year. The acts were great. It stays hot in there, not very good air quality and circulation. I has to bring my mini fan. My drink was watered down. They upcharge for that cheap water, why. I wouldn't eat the food.

Glad to see this business is still up and running. They've been a staple in Greensboro for several years. We attended a Comedy Show and had thee most fun!!! Our waitress was amazing ...she continued to check on us throughout the meal. We ordered 5-wings and hot chips with ranch. The small cups of ranch ...we went through about 5 of them. The comedian was Shuler King!!! He is super funny!!

I always love the events themselves, but everything else could use a lot of work. The seating process could definitely use some improvements. If you go to the 2nd show, there's always a really long line and it can take half an hour to get inside. Once you get inside they pretty much pack you in like sardines. There's not a lot of space between tables so going to the bathroom is kind of annoying. You'd expect the situation to be better in the VIP section, but it's a lot worse. You're pretty much shoulder to shoulder with whoever is next to you in VIP and there is a lot less space between tables so getting up for anything becomes a whole event. The service is also pretty bad, which is no fault to the servers themselves. I've been going here for a multiple years and somehow they are always understaffed. I've had it take over 15 minutes to get a drink after asking. And because the servers have to cover so many tables, it's difficult to get their attention to place another order. The food and drinks aren't anything crazy. The food is pretty much your typical bar food. It's good but isn't great by any means. The drinks prices aren't obscene for a bar, but still a little overpriced. They do have a LOT of options though which is nice.

Nephew Tommy from the Steve Harvey morning show is hilarious! No pictures could be taken but when I tell you... he is so funny. Look him up! He's also known as Thomas Miles Make sure to order some food, you will not be disappointed

6/10/23: We were here tonight to see Capone the Comedian & we had a blast. When we walked in, we were checked in and seated where we wanted to sit. The waitress immediately came to take our order. We didn't even have time to look at the menu. That was cool though because we were early & had time to look at it, order, and start eating before the show began. The place was packed & everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The food came our fresh. We got chicken strips, fries, and mozzarella sticks. All were hot & we had no issues at all. There something for everyone on the menu...from appetizers all the way to champagne. There's ample parking. We were visiting Greensboro specifically to attend this show & I'm glad we did. We will definitely be back.

The Performing Arts Center hosts many events, from the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra to touring Broadway shows, concerts, comedy shows and discussions. The Tanger Center has a parking lot available for performances, and there is street parking and a few nearby parking garages. With Greensboro taking down two garages, it might be a little more challenging to find a space. When you arrive, ticket scanning and a security check are first. I am glad they finally clarified the bag policy to just one rather than three different policies. Phillips Hall is impressive with its high ceilings (3 stories) and a large glass window. It is 8,000 square feet and has porcelain staircases on both sides and elevators in the center. The concessions are in front of the window and under the stairs, so it is a shame that the architectural view is blocked. There are high-top tables in the center for your food and beverages. But I do not remember seeing any seating with the tables. The women's restroom on the first floor is large, with many stalls, extending from one side of the theatre to the other. I like that you can also see whether they are occupied or vacant. Staff have been very pleasant and helpful, from finding where you need to be seated to the Prelude Dining before performances. Seating is on three levels; the orchestra and the Grand Tier can be entered from the main level. The Loge is the balcony on the third level, and elevators are available from the lobby. I've had tickets for the orchestra in various sections, the grand tier and the grand tier boxes and learned where I prefer. It is also very easy to leave after the performances with multiple exits. The Tanger Center is a great addition to Downtown Greensboro that knows how to handle large-scale events.

She suggested I use the Orchestra level entry, and then I would only have to go up the stairs once to my seat. I appreciated the advice. Audio and visual effects were top grade. Seating was comfortable, and interior had a modern yet elegant decor. Very pleasant experience.

The bar comfortably accommodated about 40 people and most nights wouldn't see more than 20 at a time, but would have a steady population of around 60-70 on the 4th. These were the days before Natty Greene's, when any other day of the year one could lie in the middle of the street at 8 pm and not worry about cars. This particular day was like most Fourths, but got interesting later in the night, when Johnny Van Zant walked in. Lynyrd Skynyrd had played that day down the block from the bar and late in the evening this hayseed came in, sat at the bar and asked for a Budweiser. At first, I had no clue whom he was, so I mocked him for asking a 14 year old to serve him a beer. Eventually, he was served and after a few bemulleted congratulated him on a good set, I realized it was Van Zant, who had taken over vocal duties for this hemorrhoid on the asshole of southern rock after his brother's plane wrapped itself around a tree. I disregarded him for an hour as he got progressively drunker, but he couldn't stand being ignored. Primarily, the bar was a black purlieu, making good ol' Johnny's next few statements all the more sage, and hilarious. Upon spotting one of the Malcolm X shirts that were so popular at the time, with "It's a black thing. You wouldn't understand" printed on the back, he began with a description of his big idea to make money (was his band doing so poorly?). "Wanna know my idea fer a milyun dollar bizness? T-shirts." His speech was already slurred as he answered his own question without giving me the chance. "You know how they got their shirts?" he said, ever louder, "The ones that say 'It's a black thing. You wouldn't understand'?" I knew what was coming, yet he continued. "Well, I got an idea for shirts for us!" He paused several seconds, allowing me time to catch up to his intellect before he delivered his payoff. "It's a WHITE thing. YOU wouldn't understand," he blurted out while pointing an angry finger at no one. "Yeah, I think you're a little late there. I've seen those." "And d'you know how they got their X? We'd have our X. A rebel flag!" "I'm telling you, man, they already sell those." "Well, I ain't never seen one." I have never been to a Lynyrd Skynyrd show, but it would be difficult to convince me that vendors didn't sell these t-shirts at every one of them in the '90s, or now, in fact. Rednecks are notoriously behind the times. At some point during the hick's pitch, a trailer-park blonde had stumbled in, already drunk. She sat a few seats down from Johnny Too Bad and demanded a beer. Upon informing yet another rocket scientist that I was too young to serve, she began a lengthy diatribe about how I shouldn't be working there if I couldn't fetch her beer. I asked someone else to get it, and she asked for a few case quarters. She spent several minutes doing the Axl Rose sway in front of the jukebox while trying to decide on a song, and then suddenly she stamped her feet and exclaimed, "There ain't a god-damned thing on here worth playing!" "You don't like 'Mr. Bojangles'?" I asked. "I don't see- Oh." So she chose some Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and some contemporary country that had never been played, and returned to her seat for most of her first selection before heading to the restroom. Moments later, she cracked the restroom door and yelled, "Y'all ain't got no damned toilet paper in here! I gotta drip my ass dry?" A co-worker took a whole 8-roll pack to her. I like "Mr. Bojangles"; it's a decent enough song. But after it finished, while she was still drying out, her next song began. I don't know what it was. I'll just assume Garth Brooks or Alan Jackson. It was one of those typical, "Why'd that truck driver not take a rest the night Junior was coming home from the war and driving to meet his daughter for the first time at Christmas?" songs. So I turned the volume way the fuck down before she returned. She took her seat and nursed the bottle for a while, until, "Can't that thing get any louder? I can't hear my god-damned song!" "Yeah. Let's see- " and I pretended to turn it up for her. "How's that?" "Still can't hear it." "Hmm... I don't think it goes much higher, but I'll try," and this time I nudged the switch slightly. "That's as high as it goes. Must be the record." "Well, God damn. I still can't hear nothin'." "Yeah, I'm sorry." She finished her beer as the song faded to an end, and then she walked toward the exit as one of my favorites, Clarence Carter's "Slip Away", began to play. I cranked the volume good and loud just in time for her to slip away herself, with such grace, flipping me off and cursing as she stormed out the door. I love America.
