Nice late night bar in Coolock, Dublin. Lively atmosphere with the music played loud. Not too busy and said to serve food too.

Don't ever let the location or address fool you....this is a gem of a bar in the middle of Coolock village. It is very on the inside, sleek, shine and glamorous with a very well stocked bar. The cocktail menu is huge and they were been ordered left, right and centre....which is the sign of excellent cocktails! The DJ rocked the place and had everyone up dance to any request made!!

We visited twice, and the first time was on a Wednesday night. They were able to accommodate us mid-week without a reservation, but Friday night we made one to come back. There were gobs of people waiting to get in so we're glad we did! The entrance is very non-descript. It's an ugly grey metal door with VCC randomly applied, so if you didn't know what was there it would look industrial. There is a door bell to the left of the door. Ring it a few times and someone will open the door and check you in. With reservations they do make you wait until exactly that time so don't be alarmed. Your table is already selected for you. The inside is loungy and very swanky. Both times we had extremely comfortable chairs. Service is immaculate. Their menu is massive, very well published and explained. Our servers were both able to explain exactly what the cocktail may taste like as some of the combos might blow your mind. I had the Dirty Wizard which sounds odd on based on ingredients but was delicious. I also had the Purple Pearl which was my perfect cocktail. My husband tried a few different whiskey concoctions and he was impressed by all of them. I highly recommend adding VCC to your Dublin itinerary!

Our server was super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive! The entire menu was so interesting to read and they seemed to have a very wide variety of drinks. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Dublin and like speakeasies and cool drinks!

I had already paid the girl that had served me?! On my second glass of wine and needed the toilet, while leaving my glass with a little wine in it. On arriving back from toilet my wine was gone. Mentioning this to the lounge boy he politely informed me he would check what had happened. A few minutes later and I get a visit from what this pub calls a 'manager' (name witheld) and apart from him being enraged, he simply denied that my wine was ever taken, then proceeds to shout over me and act in a very confrontational manner, squaring up to me while roaring into my face. This 'manager' guy at Gilbert & Wrights would not even allow me to politely articulate my issue. His default mode was shouting full denial into my face. Not wanting to get barred from here, I felt I had no other option but to forget about my wine and go purchase another glass at the bar. This review is not about a wine glass, it's about Gilbert & Wright's response to my very polite comment about their removal of my drink. For to be treated in this manner by their raging 'manager' is inexcusable and I will not be returning here any time soon. Gilbert & Wright Malahide please get your act together and stop insulting your customers. AVOID Gilbert & Wright Malahide at all costs.. AVOID !

The authentic Victorian setting, the Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops, the mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern. The staff are helpful, friendly and patient since their accent is hard to understand sometime. My 1st beer and 1st Irish food, all I can say is what a meal, just simple delish. Being here is just a wondrous experience, the place is cosy, warm and the friendly of the people. So glad I picked this place as my first of Dublin.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.
