The chicken was light and fluffy with red potatoes and vegetables...fabulous!

I come to Dublin 3 times a year, and no matter how many great places I have a chance to eat at, I always find myself back here! They know what they are doing!! Happy journey!

Came here late night for a quick drink. Spacious with high ceilings, this place is nice in the bar area. I tried the Gunpowder Irish gin and tonic and loved it. My friend got a cocktail from the menu and hated it. They had TVs in the bar and a bathroom downstairs. Not bad to chill here for a bit.

Food was good but the reason for the 3-star is because our food took nearly an hour to come out. The server/kitchen totally forgot about our order which I understand does happen especially when it gets busy.

Service is okay but food is very good. I recommend the Asian style fry or the steak. The French fries are not like other you find in Ireland. Those are just fast food fries you can find in the us grocery stores. Deserts are very good: the crumbly apple pie and the sticky orange cake are my favorites.

Went in for. a quick bite to eat after some shopping. Busy venue but we managed to get a table. Good vibrant atmosphere with patrons of all ages. Service was quick and the bar menu had a good range of options at a reasonable price.

Don't let the photo fool you; this is maaaaaaaaaaaaaasive.

Everything here to eat for dinner is just too expensive. I got the goats cheese salad which was massive and made with lovely flavoursome cheese in filo pastry, but everything was just that bit too oily for a salad. It was massive though, so big an entire live rabbit could be hiding in there and you couldn't tell unless you started rummaging around looking for the grapes. The wines were not the May West either. On the plus side: The staff are absolutely delightful, very courteous and attentive. Also the venue itself is really striking. I'd probably venture in here for a few bevvys again, but I wouldn't be too quick ordering grub again.

The best apple pie you'll ever have.

Let me preface what I'm about to say with the following facts: I love apples, I grew up by an apple orchard, and my standards for any apple-based product is incredibly high because of those first two facts. The Grand Central has the best apple pie I have ever had in my life. Hands down, bar none, the best. It hurts my soul knowing it took me 28 years to find it and it hurts even more knowing that it is thousands of miles away from where I live. That being said, the food and service here were both well above average and only very slightly more expensive than surrounding fare. Well worth a visit, the apple pie will continue to haunt my dreams.

Once a bank for 75 years, the Grand Central has a beautiful exterior and interior. Built in the late 19th century, it has high ceilings and handcrafted stone. The seating is quite comfortable too. You can sink into brown leather couches whilst enjoying your tipple. This pub is a good choice if you're shopping or if you're working in the area and you need a rest. The atmosphere is mediocre because it attracts a lot of blow-ins from O'Connell Street. Nonetheless, it's free to get in and they play all the major sporting events on their plasma screens. The pub food is decent with big portions.

After to listening to my friend rave for days and days about the cajun chicken baguette at the Grand Central, I must say I was a little intrigued... But 13 euros for a baguette - even if it's bloody good, how can you justify the phenomenal pricetag? My friend, however, is not a woman of needless extravagance, so curiosity got the better of me and I caved. The Grand Central Hotel is a bar situated in the 19th century building that once housed the Munster & Leinster Bank. It's right on the corner of O'Connell and Abbey Streets in Dublin 1. The building itself is very impressive. The Grand has a mighty grand feel about it, alright. With its elaborate stone exterior, high ceilings and plush red seating, the Grand looks and feels like a 4 star hotel. A few minutes inside, however, will convince you otherwise. Really it's just an elaborately decked out pub. Leinster supporters still hang out here before a match, and glammed up girls down fuschia-coloured cocktails here before a night out on the town. But back to the cajun chicken baguette... was it the slice of heaven I'd dreamed of? Hmmmm, no, but it was pretty bloody good, very filling, and big enough to share. So in reality it's only 6.50...

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

The Wind Jammer is not, however, one of the really fun early houses. For fun early houses that serve already somewhat inebriated people, try The Chancery. The Wind Jammer is the type of early house that caters to shift workers and Gardaí from Pearse St coming off the night shift. Apart from a few couples the morning after the Trinity Ball, they wouldn't let in too many post-club revellers. The door is closed most early mornings, and they have a CCTV camera to give ya a good hard scrutinising before they'll let you in. The only time I was there for early pints, there was only one other group of young lads there and the barman looked like he was about to stop serving them. During the rest of the day and night, the Wind Jammer is a quiet pub frequented mainly by old, grumpy locals, who would sooner bite your head off than ask you the time of day. If you're really desperate for a drink and can't make it til half ten when the rest of the pubs open, by all means go to The Wind Jammer. Otherwise, there isn't that much else to recommend to it. Oh, one other thing. The Wind Jammer is the closest pub to Windmll Lane Studios, so U2 and The Saw Doctors among others have retired there for post-recording session pints over the years.
