I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find somebody who fixes clocks. A friend said I should just toss it, but I thought better or it. The clock cost me over $100 a few years ago. So I seraph and found this company is Niskayuna. Drive there &they asked me to wait in case it could w fixed quickly and it could and they changed me $21 to save my beautiful wall clock. Nice guys. This was my go to clock repair for my antique mantel clock for years. However, the long time owner passed away about a year ago, and the person who took over briefly decided not to continue, as he, too, was of retirement age. The Clock Works has been closed since last July (2023) is my understanding, so I really don't understand how there is a review dated Nov. 2023, unless he decided to stay open a few more months. If that's the case, I wish I'd known, as I am now looking for another clock repair shop and the closest one to my Schenectady home is over 20 miles away. I miss The Clock Works and Paul. I've taken two different Howard Miller clocks to them for a couple repairs to each of them. Every time they made repairs and adjustments quickly, professionally, and at a reasonable cost. I even bought a couple clocks from their selection of vintage electric clocks. If you like vintage clocks, check it out, it's a lot more fun seeing them in person than on EBay. They're not easy to locate -- they' re quite inconspicuous, I keep driving past them even after I've visited 4+ times. If it turned out they were actually a safe house for James Bond or the entrance to a vast underground intelligence complex (for the good guys, not Dr. Evil -- they're far too nice), I wouldn't be surprised. Few people have clocks any more but if you do and you need it repaired, these are your people. read more

If time were a deck of cards each moment would be a jack of diamonds, or an ace of spades. Dimensions run at 90 degree angles to each other. Our 3rd dimension is just one of those cards, and the whole deck represents perhaps a day in our life. We reference the clocks to keep pace with the ongoing march toward the big day when all of it will be meaningless anyway, and we'll wish we made more of the time we had. We have music to organize time through tonal relationships. Music needs memory to work (our pitchfork on the haystack of the 4th dimension) We need to know about whats been played to enjoy now and anticipate the future. Fuck the stock market. I brought my father's old mantel clock to James after getting a ridiculous high estimate at another shop for having it cleaned and repaired. I thought it was overwound but he had it running within a few minutes. He also gave me some helpful advice on how to wind it and set the pendulum. AND showed me a great product to fix the scratches on the wood and make it look like new! All this for $25 when I could have spent much, much more. Interesting gentleman and very honest. read more
