I paid Mr. Morrow of OldeTymes (OldeTymesClockAndPocketwatch.com) $850.00 to come to my house to fix my grandfather clock. I had to wait 6 months for him to come to my house. After I paid him his full fee, I listened to him tell me all about the grandfather clock industry. He then spent a couple hours tinkering with the grandfather clock, at the end of such time he turned palms up and said he could not fix it without a complete replacement of the inner workings (my word, not his). I asked him the cost of such a repair/replacement, and he quoted me a fee of $2,000.00. Of course, that quote was outrageous, so we parted ways. To look at his website, one would think he was competent to fix any grandfather clock that does not run. I then found another more knowledgable grandfather repairman, who fixed my grandfather clock for approximately $250.00. I intend to keep using the second repairman.
Use Olde Tymes/David Morrow if you want, but I wouldn't dream of returning to him for further work on my grandfather clock. "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." read more
