Deviled Eggs
Jasmine S.

Decided to check out The Clifton on a Friday evening at 4pm. We were greeted right away and brought to a table. They do not to reservations but at this time there was no wait. When sat, we were given water and mentioned the soup of the day as baked potatoe soup. As an appetizer, the Deviled Eggs were good. On their featured menu, the Sweet & Spicy chicken sandwich was great. We also had the burger with option of truffle fries. Everyone was friendly, beautiful decor, and great for a drink at the bar too.

Wow this place is a gem! It's tucked away in a restaurant that looks like a house right in the heart of downtown Plainfield. The food and service is amazing! Truly highly recommend visiting this place.

The bartenders always do a great job!

The food is amazing the the service is always excellent! We keep coming back because the service is great.

I've been meaning to try this place since it opened in the summer. I'm a big fan of downtown Plainfield so I'm glad to see another cocktail bar join the area. I was mostly interested in the cocktails as I ate right before coming. The first drink I ordered was the surfer Rosa. It's a tequila base mixed with strawberry, guava, lime, and egg white. It was light but tart and sweet. My second drink was a margarita with mezcal. The bartender added a mango/passion flavoring which was a nice touch and not too sweet or overpowering. My girlfriend got the bacon jam pizza which she thought was a bit underwhelming. She was hoping for savory/salty but got a lot of sweetness. Overall the ambiance is nice. They've got a nice bar with a good amount of seating. The music was probably my least favorite part. I wish it was a bit less mainstream, but that's just me. I definitely will come back for a drink!

Vodka Not so Vanilla

We sat outside as the weather was nice. Shared El Poutine. It is a Mexican version of Poutine and was really good. Very filling and we werent able to finish. It is big enough to share with 2-4 ppl. Had the Vodka Not so Vanilla. It was very pretty with a flower making it look more exotic. Definitely taste the Mango and passion fruit.

The Clifton, was super tasty and very cute inside! We did not have reservations and our party of 4 was seated right away. Overall service was good, many staff members were very friendly! The thousand layer potato was very good!

We were so excited to finally try out the Clifton after waiting for what seems like the past year. The menu looks and reads so well. Every dish we had was delicious. We tried the el poutine for our appetizer and it was a flavor explosion. All of the ingredients went together so well. We also tried the chicken parm, bacon jam pizza and the Clifton classic burger. Need to come back soon since the menu is so unique! We loved the beautiful decor and they had an awesome playlist. The general manager was extremely welcoming, appreciative and so kind! Can't wait to come back so soon!

Wood fired bbq pizza. Too much sauce. Messy.

The Clifton's website does not fit their restaurant vibe. The website is dark and fancy. The restaurant is bright, cheery and modern. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The vibe I got was casual, fresh, and fun. The atmosphere put me in the mood for homemade soup and salad with homemade dressing and wood fired croutons and freshly made iced tea. What I got: delicious, fresh garden salad with a slightly sweet vinaigrette dressing, multicolored snappy tomatoes, slivered carrots, arugula tossed in. No croutons. Wood fired bbq pizza with a perfectly cooked crust with way too much sweet bbq sauce that made a huge sticky mess. I gave up eating it and brought it home and it was actually better cold because the sauce thickened and it wasn't as messy. I expected a freshly made iced tea, but it tasted like it came out of the bar soda gun. Blah!! My husband enjoyed his Al pastor tacos. I will give the Clifton another shot. I'd like to try their soup and salad with chicken.

Bread bites with dipping sauce

Although the interior is lovely, the service left much to be desired. We were seated outside for lunch today and were one of two tables with guests. It took over 35 minutes to get my drink. The food came a little bit more quickly. It was very average. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out. Also quite pricey in my opinion.

Deadly garden cocktail

The PERFECT addition to downtown Plainfield! My husband and I had been waiting for the opening and were so excited to go for the first time. We had a hard time deciding on inside or outside seating, but the weather was beautiful so we opted for their cute patio. Before we sat down, we made sure to check out the interior- it's gorgeous! I'm in love with the aesthetic and everything looks so clean and elegant but still has an outgoing, fun vibe to it. To start we ordered the fig and brie bread- It wasn't my favorite dish of the night but still very good. The bread could've been a little crispier but I did love the light, airiness to it and all of the ingredients melded so well together. We also ordered the wagyu meatballs & fried artichoke hearts. OMG. Now these items I would solely come back for. The meatballs were fall apart tender & had such a rich flavor to them, loved the addition of the ricotta. The fried artichoke hearts were my favorite and actually one of the best appetizers I've ever had. So simple but done perfectly. The crunch was incredible and the green goddess sauce was bursting with flavor. To drink we had wine & tried a few cocktails- my favorite was the sunset in Puebla but we thought the others were amazing as well (deadly garden & the stinger) Service was a 10/10 and our entire experience was great. We really can't wait to come back soon!

Could probably hold a huge wedding or Shower party there. Love the decor and food was great. I think they have a coat check, but I'm not sure. The coats didn't stay well on the chairs. And can't hang your purse on the back either. I ended up putting my purse between my shoes. Had the mimosa flight and was able to try all of their flavored mimosas. They were pretty tart. But I like the strawberry lemon the most. Got the eggs Benedict with the smoked salmon. Came with a side of potatoes and peppers. Then ended with the sticky toffee pudding. Definitely recommend as it melts into your mouth. The waiters were really nice and was able to do split checks with no issues. There are street parking and a small parking lot not far from the restaurant. There were signs on the street that helped guide me to the parking lot.

We didn't book a reservation but we were able to get a seat without any issue. My friends that came here prior say that whenever they booked with the reservation they were able to get a seat upstairs. We weren't dining in, we were only staying for a few drinks but this place was really cozy and the waitress who took care of us throughout our time here was very friendly and social. Great selection of drinks to choose from and there's even non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails as well. It can be a bit pricey coming here as well as a bit tricky trying to find a parking spot but it's a great place to stop at!

O.M.B. (ONE MAGNIFICENT BURGER)…read more Their name doesn't say it, but Next Whiskey Bar serves an incredible burger. I know my way around a sandwich, and I have to say the offerings at NWB in downtown Plainfield are some of the best around. Look for the blue & white house on Lockport St, and you'll know you've found it. NWB doesn't take reservations, however you can join an online waitlist. Park on the street or in a small lot adjacent to the building. The beer selection is fantastic, a pint ($8) never disappoints although I usually lean towards a Hefeweizen or pilsner with my meal. Yeah yeah, I know this is a WHISKEY bar, but yours truly doesn't do the brown liquor.....bad experience with Jägermeister as a kid. For appetizers, the cheese curds ($14) are pricey but oh-so-worth it. They come with a cilantro aioli and we get an order of these every single visit. The cauliflower popcorn ($11) is also a very worthy choice for starters; roasted and seasoned cauliflower florets are served with a sumptuous clarified butter. Their house NWB Burger ($16.50) is a busy affair, with pork belly, bbq sauce, onion straws and cheese curds on a pretzel bun. The Big Jer ($15.25) is a much simpler yet equally stellar burger with 2x4oz patties, lettuce, tomato, and Merkt's cheddar spread served with a pickle spear. I recently tried the Suribachi ($15.50) and it blew my mind. A 1/2lb patty is lightly fried in tempura batter, then topped with pepperjack cheese, wasabi coleslaw and sriracha on a brioche bun. Next time, I'm giving the El Toro a shot (pickled habaneros, corn guac). My wife loves the pork belly mac ($16), a good portion of cheesy cavatappi pasta with crispy pork belly. Their Cubano ($15) is solid and the Taylor Street panini ($15) is a tasty Italian grinder, with prosciutto, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato and olive spread on focaccia bread. NWB's homemade chips are amazing, I always opt for them instead of fries (which are also great). Bread = 5+ Circuses = 4.5 Service has been generally fine, but last visit it took a long time for our server to come by initially. The inside of this converted house is somewhat cramped so if the weather allows, I suggest dining 'al fresco'. Their outdoor patio definitely passes the vibe check. I honestly can't decide whose doughnuts are better, Empire in Naperville or Next Whiskey Bar's. It might be a tie! In any case, we ALWAYS end a meal here with the fried doughnuts ($11) that come with a heavenly whiskey caramel sauce for dipping. * TL;DR * In my mind, NWB stands for "Nirvana, With Burgers". Everything we've gotten here has exceeded expectations. Cheese curds, cauliflower popcorn, pork belly pasta, doughnuts and of course burgers all stand out. I would get the Suribachi again in a HEARTBEAT. The ambiance is ideal for date night and small groups, and with a small dining area that fills up fast, come early or expect a wait. Next Whiskey Bar is one of my favorite restaurants in the western suburbs, I highly recommend them.
