Service sucks! Parking sucks! Food sucks! I will not recommend this place to anyone at all

I was impressed, especially given the mixed reviews. Went for lunch after a couple of other places had too long a wait. Nice views but the food was perfect. Started with excellent oysters, which came with a good selection of condiments. Large selection of oysters, we chose the Maryland ones (for obvious reasons) and they were fresh, tasty and a nice consistency. I thought the crab cake was excellent, large pieces of crab and no shell (a huge pet peeve of mine). Would gladly go again. read more

I have mixed feelings on this place. The location is beautiful. The patio on the second floor has lovely views and an energetic vibe. However, it can be rather loud at times. Service was quite inattentive. It was very busy and it felt as though there just weren't enough bartenders. I started with the Prime Beef Carpaccio and it did not disappoint! The truffle aioli took it to the next level. I really enjoyed it. I also tried the Maine Lobster Roll with fries. The bun was buttery in flavor, but could've been toasted better. The lobster itself was over-sauced. The lobster should've been the star and I felt that the excessive sauce took away from that. The fries were cooked to perfection, however, I wish they would've offered a different variation of a fry - like truffle fries or Parmesan fries. But plain fries were the only option with it besides a side salad. My biggest disappointment with this place was the Bloody Mary I ordered. You would think that a seafood restaurant like this would offer a really killer Bloody Mary. Instead, I received a glass with vodka and standard Bloody Mary mix, garnished with one tiny lime wedge and one olive. It didn't even have seasoning on the rim! I saw this as a majorly missed opportunity for this place. They should be offering seafood add-ons as a garnish and/or using other creative garnishes. And at the very least, please give me some Old Bay or celery salt on the rim! I found this Bloody Mary to be the most lazy and uninspired cocktail that I've had in a very long time. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Seating... needs improvement. It was a warm, sunny day. Windows were open and there was no protection from the sun, which made it hot. There were no fans where we were seated, which was right next to one of the bay doors that were opened. No air conditioning. Lots of flies we fought to keep away from our food. We will come back in the fall or winter. The table next to us was worse (direct sunlight). Two different parties were seated there and left shortly after because they were uncomfortable. The food and service really are the things saving this review. Loaded mashed potatoes were scrumptious! Seating bass with lemon butter was YUMMY! I was skeptical when the Oysters Rockefeller came out because it looked a little runny but that spinach sauce and cheese mix was delicious! Scallops were a delight. The location was beautiful. The crabs were not as good as I would have expected. A bit watery. The drinks from the bar were definitely not made by a well trained bartender. Old fashioned did not include the garnishes. The crab soups were tasty. Service was slow. Stopped in for lunch with family on a hot July day. There was a wait to check in with the host, but we were seated in short order. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We shared the artichoke appetizer and while it was nicely seasoned, the artichoke itself was sadly small and without much heart. My entree was a mixed bag: the salad dressing and coleslaw were over salted, but the crab cake was the best I've ever had. Yes, it's pricey, but not totally unexpected for the area. Great Lication. Food? Meh. Not long after it opened, I was excited to try the Cioppino. It was a big disappointment. There was a decent portion of seafood, but the broth was ruinous. It was as if they had dumped a bit of seafood into a bowl of V-8. I counted it as opening pains. I gave it a second try... cioppino was even worse... same flavorless broth and less seafood than I remembered. Expensive and unremarkable, the food is Applebee's, but the prices are French Laundry. The atmosphere is big and loud... too big... and demonstrates the drawbacks of corporate restaurants. I won't be back. read more

Great place in Annapolis harbor right on the city dock. Lots of outdoor seating on ground level and rooftop with nice views. Expect a long wait in the summer so recommend reservations. The wait on a Saturday night without a reservation was nearly 2 hours and there were no seats available at the bar. Great service and seafood. I loved the seasonal seafood pasta and the gumbo. We had 7 people, so it generally went ok except the waitress was what I thought of as rude. She was taking our orders and walked away to another table while the person was talking. She went to another table and eventually came back to ours. When the food came out, my order was missing a crabcake. I was nearly finishing the rest of the food before it arrived. When I got the check I saw the reason why the service tucked. 20% added on automatically, so the waitress only wanted to turn the table and make another 20%. The seafood and drinks here were great. Their Manhattan was good. I also really enjoyed their seafood platter. It came with king crab, lobster, various other seafood, corn and more. The king crab was delicious. I might have to get that on its own the next time. And the melted butter went well with the seafood. Actually ı would want to give 5 star! But 3 things made me down ! First thing who try to give us bed place after 1 hour wait! (The blonde lady with pony tail) she took us after we said that we want something nicer place! Second thing is; creme brûlée one of my favorite dessert! The top crispy part most enjoyable part. And it must me warm when it arrive! But unfortunately no it wasn't . Third thing: we finished the brulee but there is no coffeee. We canceled it and I was upset having dessert without coffee:( Rest of the food and view was really good! I think we have to come weekdays not weekends! Food was great and the view is incredible but the service was absolutely horrible. One member of our party never received their meal at all. We tried to flag down our waitress to let her know we still were missing a meal after 15 min and when she was no where to be found we tried letting the hostess that was nearby know. The hostess told us we needed to wait until our waitress came around and let her know ourselves. The way they handled it was super disappointing. It's almost like the waitress didn't care and gave up trying to help us because she knew they did the automatic 20% gratuity. They ended up bringing the meal out in a to go box after everyone was finished eating and comping it but it was super frustrating to go out for a family meal where one member just watched the rest of us eat. We loved the recommendation from the waiter to get the Cream of Crab & Maryland crab soup half & half. It was a delicious combo. I could eat that every night especially on a cold fall evening. As my meal, I ate the beef carpaccio which melted in my mouth. Another winner. My hubby got a fish special that he couldn't stop raving about. He is my toughest critic. The Choptank was a HUGE disappointment. On this particular day (Labor Day), they weren't accepting reservations so we added our name to the list for outdoor seating. The wait time was about 45 minutes, which was to be expected. While waiting, I ordered an Orange Crush at the upstairs bar. Service was great but the Crush lacked that fresh-squeezed taste you'd expect. Upon being seated at our table, we were promptly greeted by our server, Britany H. After perusing the menu, we decided on the following: half dozen raw oysters, Fried Calamari, and Black Angus Burger. The calamari arrived first - greasy, bland, more peppers than actual calamari. After approximately 30 minutes (and several inquiries), we were told that the oysters needed to be "re-iced" because they had been misplaced. In other words, the runner didn't know where to deliver them and they sat out somewhere - not ideal for oysters on a warm day. Either way, our server made it right by putting in and bringing a fresh order. As for the burger, it was uninspiring... oh, and the fries were WAY over salted. For the price point, I expected a more satisfying experience. Thankfully, our server was nice enough to comp the calamari and oysters. Aside from the view from the rooftop, this visit was quite disappointing. Atlas needs to fine tune this establishment. read more

I'm chuckling writing this review. My significant other always introduces new places to me. I lied and said I never had been to Choptank, only to be reminded once we arrived that I've been a couple of times. Yelp reminded me too with the check in feature. For date night on Saturday, we ventured to Annapolis. We scored a parking right in front. Lucky! We didn't even have to valet. (They do offer valet on the main entrance side.) We were late for our reservation but the host had no issue and even sat us outside like we requested. My view is always beautiful sitting across my Beau but Saturday was extra special with the view of the yachts and water. For starters we had to have oysters, Oysters Rockefeller to be exact. I always know when my Beau likes them because he doesn't hesitate to eat mine if I leave them alone too long on the plate. Safe to say these were a hit! I wasn't particularly hungry so my lobster roll got a new home. My Beau loved it. To be honest it was one of the BEST lobster rolls in the DMV area that I've had. The lobster was so soft! My Beau got the 8oz Black Angus Flatiron. He paired it with Brussel sprouts. He liked it but packed it since he had to eat my meal. I'm a BIG on desserts. My Beau said he'd share with me so we picked his choice, cheesecake. It was delicious! I didn't eat my food but I sure did eat the cheesecake. (Shrugs) After dinner we stopped by the bar to continue the fun. The bartender was nice. Drinks were made with generous pours. Thanks bartender! Attire, for the summer months you can definitely dress down, for winter months you can dress to impress. I visited this restaurant with my homegirl and we had a great time. I don't really eat fish a lot, but when I tell you, the Bronzino change my entire thought process on fish. I tried the Bronzino and it was by far the best fish I've ever had it was so tender and juicy not dry at all. Our waiter was super great with suggestions being that I'm not a big fish eater. They were super helpful and recommending the butter sauce, which I have been thinking about ever since we left. We stopped in for lunch on a Friday and while most of the tables were open, they told us they only had one server for each level so most of it was blocked off but we grabbed a seat at the bar. We arrived at 12:50 pm and they took our drink order right away. At 1:00 pm we asked if we could place an order. Our appetizer came out around 1:15 pm. Around 1:45, we asked for an update on our food and they told us it was being prepared. It finally came out at 2:10, over an hour after we placed the order. They likely forgot to put it in rather than it taking that long to cook because they were just fish sandwiches. When the food arrived, they brought fries instead of a salad which was annoying but not the end of the world. A few things to note: - The ambiance is great and they did a really nice job with the decor. You can't beat the view. - We had to ask for water a few times and the waiters/bar staff were not very attentive - The cream of crab soup was delicious. The calamari was alright, nothing special - lobster roll was 7/10. I didn't care for the addition of curry in the recipe but the bun was delicious and they were generous with the lobster - Wait time for food was unacceptable read more

The staff and the views make this place so great. I went on a very busy Friday lunch and they seated me on the rooftop with "no guarantee of full shade," but the staff made all the umbrellas work so that everyone was comfortable and shaded. Visited for a chill birthday dinner and here's my review: The service was excellent-considering how busy they were. We were running behind due to traffic and they kindly pushed back our reservation time (with no issue) because we were celebrating. Our waitress was a joy; she was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very excited to celebrate my birthday. The food came out in a reasonable time but there were some items that required a longer wait. The restaurant itself is in a prime location, it's right on the water so the views are beautiful. It has plenty of SHADED outdoor seating and a very nice rooftop. We sat inside where the music was a vibe but it was a bit loud and hard to hear my partner at times. Tuna Tartare 9/10 - So delicious just a little tricky to eat. I recommend flipping it on its side and eating from the bottom layer to the top layer. Shrimp Ceviche 8/10 (according to my partner) - Fresh, good portion, good flavor; the mango was a nice touch. One or two more taro chips would have been nice. Chilean Sea Bass 9/10 - Excellent flavor and portion. I can't remember what sauce it was served with but it was delicious; it complemented the natural buttery/fatty taste of sea bass (iykyk). Side Salad 0/10 - I was genuinely shocked because it was a simple salad. What made it bad was the fact that it was drowned in olive oil and it was clear the vegetable toppings were cut for aesthetic and not meant to be eaten. Sweet Corn Pudding 7.5/10 - It was really good but very confusing. It's made with jalapeños (completely unexpected) but it contrasts with the sweetness in a pleasant way. Texture-wise it has a slight grit which isn't bad, just feels like a mix between a porridge and pudding. I honestly liked it but I couldn't see how it paired with anything on the menu. I do recommend trying it though! Double Crab Cake Platter 8/10 (according to my partner) - Good size, not a lot of filler, but the chili remoulade was not it. Fries were also pretty good. Birthday Dessert - I was absolutely living for the sea salt ice cream!!!!! This needs to be engraved in the menu so people know to try it. The skillet cookie was also pretty good - the dark chocolate chips were a surprise, luckily I like dark chocolate. read more

Three is the BEST I can do. The flavor of my entree (seafood cioppino) was amazing, but I didn't see consistency across the table. The roasted artichoke hearts appetizer needs instructions if you are not familiar with eating whole steamed artichoke, which I imagine many are not. Our reservations were not honored; our appetizers came before our drinks; and the biggest kicker of all was that this place wanted to charge a fortune for an ala carte fish, another fortune for a side, and then a couple of janky bucks extra for the SAUCE?! I love a good Sea Bass, but I want the whole package. Don't nickel and dime me for sauces and side--restaurants are not (yet) airlines. Go somewhere else. Very large portions, nice menu and friendly staff - what more can you ask for from a Chain Restaurant. The crab platter was very good with more giant crabmeat than filling and more than enough French fries for the 4 of us. The Oysters Rockefeller were 6 very good and again large portions. The Seafood Gumbo was good to very good but the Goat Cheese Spread entree was good except for the bread which was hard as a rock ! We have really been exploring this summer away from DC, and came up to Annapolis to hang out. We ended up at The Choptank without a reservation and were estimated to wait 45 minutes, but we got lucky and found seats at the bar we were able to grab instead. I would say definitely have a reservation as this place appears to be very popular. They have a large restaurant and still were extremely packed. We ordered the calamari to start and it came out very hot and crisp. The batter was very light on the calamari which was great. We also got the crab cake sandwich and the fish and chips. The crab cake was so flakey and had almost 0 filler so definitely recommend the crab cake. The fish for the fish chips while the fish was very flakey the batter was a bit thick and would have been better with a thinner batter. Other than that one time we noticed everything was great. The service was also very attentive and the servers were also very knowledgeable when asked questions. Highly recommended checking this place out. read more

This is quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had in my life here in Naptown. I went with a friend who works in the service industry in Annapolis, as do I... we went in at 2pm on a Tuesday and I will say my friend is a woman of color and I am Latina, there was a couple next to us that were as well an African American couple. It took over 5 minutes to be acknowledged as a human being. Just greet me. Fast forward, We were asked to give a credit card for our tab upon ordering, which we then asked if it was necessary and we were told it was policy. Ok, we obliged and didn't think anything of it, it was policy. Food wise, my friend asked for mayo and mustard before the burger ordered came out. she's being proactive. The food comes and we politely asked the food runner if we could get mayo and mustard. He says the bartender has it back there. (having mayo behind the bar just doesn't make sense but I digress) She then asks the bartender again when he came to check on us. We then have to wait for the mayo to come from the kitchen. We then witnessed two other groups, 1 of which I knew, come to the bar and sit down and order and were brought their drinks and food without being asked for a CC on file. We finished up to head out and my friend blatantly asked the group next to us if they had been asked for a credit card to confirm what we had witnessed. We did stop and ask an acquaintance that works there quietly to speak to a manager on the way out. Lynn was a breath of fresh air in the whole scenario and was very apologetic.
