AVOID!!! Requested the advertised inspection and cleaning. They found two miniature cracks and indicated this would have to repair before doing the cleaning. This would be an additional almost $200. I know a scam when I see it. Not to mention, their office had a quote sent over in two minutes...like that wasn't pre-prepared. read more

I was VERY impressed by the work performed by John. What started out as me just needing my chimney cap put back on (after the storm on 5/24/2011), turned out to be a lesson on just how many sticks and twigs a squirrel (or squirrels) can deposit in a chimney. So bottom line is my chimney is clean and the cap is back on. John was tidy, professional and informative. After having an estimate from Fresh Air who was only going to clean the first 5' of my chimney for the advertised price of $99 and was going to charge a total of $339 to do it completely, I told them to leave and I contacted The Chimney Doctor. He gave me a price of $165 to inspect everything and clean everything and also patched a couple of cracks. John phoned a few hours before the appointment and said he was ahead of schedule and asked if that was okay. They showed up. looked at everything, cleaned and patched everything and explained what was going on as he worked. Within about 1/2 an hour, they were done and all was cleaned and you wouldn't even know they'd been there except for the missing dirt in the chimney. Very professional, fast, effective and friendly. We thought we might have a problem when all of our smoke detectors went off when the gas fireplace was turned on.....turns out it was a battery issue but had already called the Chimney Doctor. Since the fireplace had never been cleaned in the 13 years we've owned the house, we decided to go ahead with the service which was scheduled for the very next day. SO glad we did! Outstanding service and professionalism. Nick cleaned and inspected the firebox, the logs, and the chimney. He also added more sand, and lava rock and replaced the "ember" material. Friendly visit. Agreed on work to be done. I think he did a good job. However, I still had air coming in around the insert. Called several times. No reply. Finally got a reply and he told me to text him address and he would set up a time and come back out and help. Never heard from him. After several months I tried again. Left messages, no reply. I finally reached him. He apologized and offered excuses. We set a time for him to come out. He did call that morning he was to arrive and said he could not make it but would be back in town around 1pm and would call on his way back and then come out. I have not heard from him since then. Very unhelpful. Made my wife feel stupid. We had a professional put the stove and stove pipe in. All we wanted him to do at this time was to put something on top to keep it from leaking till he could come back and fix it. All he said he couldndt do it because it wasnt in code. Well is in code a pro put it in and my insurance approved it. It is a steep roof so I just assume he didnt want to get up there to cover it at this time. Well never use them again. I saw wasps in our house... 2 in a single day and had also seen some last winter so I decided to call and get the chimney cleaned/wasps killed. I called about 8 in the morning and they immediately answered the phone and happened to have a cancellation that same day and were at the house by 4pm. They called about 30-40 minutes ahead to warn me of their arrival. They sprayed for the wasps, cleaned out the chimney and were friendly to answer any questions that I might have concerning my chimney. They gave me tips and warned me of cracks that need to be sealed around the crown of my chimney to prevent future damage and prolong the life of the chimney for as long as possible. Overall, I would recommend them. It is always nice to support a local business and their service was friendly and quick. read more

On Monday - October 23, 2017, I called Chimney Doctor and requested an estimate to repair our chimney. Our GAF roofer had diagnosed our chimney as the cause of a leaking problem. The next day, Chimney Doctor sent a young man to our home to inspect our chimney and give us an estimate. He didn't bring a ladder. Since we have a two story home, I offered to let him use my ladder, so he could actually inspect the chimney up close. He reluctantly climbed on our roof, took some photos with his phone and left. On Wednesday I called Chimney Doctor and talked to John (who said he is the business owner). He gave me an estimate that was much lower than the other three bidders I had contacted -- $240, which included a 5-year warranty. The other three companies had bid over $2000! John and I agreed that Chimney Doctor should proceed with the repair ASAP. John told me that he would have to order the sealer material that he preferred to use and that it would be in on Monday - October 30, 2017. He said he would call me to schedule the repair. On Wednesday - November 8, 2017, I realized that I hadn't heard from John, so I called him. He said that now he had learned that the sealer material wouldn't be delivered until Monday - November 13, 2017. He said he would call me to schedule the repair. On Saturday - November 11, 2017, John called to tell me that he now expected the sealer material to be delivered next Wednesday, and that he would like to schedule the repair for Thursday - November 16, 2017. I put it on my calendar. At around 11:00 am today, Thursday - November 16, 2017, I realized that I had not heard from John. So, once again, I called him. He said that "the sealer material is setting right here." When I asked him when he intended to call me and confirm our appointment for TODAY, he got all defensive. Needless to say, we quickly agreed to never do business with one another! In summary, I had to follow up with John - owner of Chimney Doctor - four times in order to figure out what was going on. He initiated a total of one follow-up call to me. And then promptly forgot to call me to confirm or reschedule our Thursday - November 16, 2017, repair appointment. The good news is, it was very easy to find a reputable, professional contractor to fix our leaking chimney problem. The bad news is, it will cost just over $2000, versus John's bid of $240. You tell me - how do businesses like this survive in today's aggressively competitive environment? read more

DO NOT USE THIS FIRM! We had them out to test our fireplace for a gas leak. The technician didn't bring any equipment, and after his five minute "diagnosis", charged us $150 and left, saying there was no gas leak. He suggested a replacement part, but after a phone call to the company, we never heard from them again. Called another company out to test for gas leak, and they immediately detected it, and found the leak in the fireplace. If you value your money (or your life), don't use this company. read more

Booked the service within 24 hours, they called before arriving - arrived early and were very quick and courteous.
