Ya know how men is a term used loosely to describe what are really toddlers or children dressed in men clothes? Ya know how men like to use the word crazy to describe woman who speak intelligently, rationale and hold "men" accountable for their crappy behavior? They came by at 7:30pm on a Sunday! Like, excuse me. Red flag one. Red flag 2. They looked around a quoted a price $100 a vent $1500 total. Red flag 3. A crew of 2 young kids. Kids! Couldn't have been older than 17 years old! Red flag 4. They said they'd take care of the mold - they stayed KILZ. (Big box store can of spray paint that does jack all on mold spores - you need some sort of bactericides to break spores.) It's about to get good!!! Grab popcorn! Red flag 5. Guy falls through my ceiling. Literally. Red flag 6. They take down moldy vents and place 3 of them on my KITCHEN COUNTERS. No tarp. No trash bag. No nothing. Red flag 7. In my rage I furious clean the moldy vents because it's clear they're not doing shit. And they're going to put them back on that way. Red flag 8. Layer of dark charcoal dust all over my house. No drop cloth. No plastic tarp. No painters plastic. There are piles of crumbles made up of drywall and mold in every room. It takes my husband and I 3 hours just to clean it up enough to go to bed. Red flag 9. They ask you for a drywall quote. You have renovations going on so you have drywallers who have already done work on same ceiling different area, you provide $600 Quote. Prime Experts says, nope we want our cheap $300 nobody drywaller to come do it. Red flag 10. Dry Waller comes to fix it. It's clear when he asks you for a hair dryer it's not good. Red flag 11. You pay drywaller but says you should come back and try to make this better. He does on a Sunday and still doesn't make it any better. Red flag 12. Your general contractor is laughing at how ridiculous this situation is. Red flag 13 - You reach out because as a Registered Nurse you know people aren't the sum one bad deed. While I've had a few minor issues in the past, they were resolved by customer service. However, I now have a serious concern. I purchased a Groupon from them for Veterans Clean Air Services, who were supposed to clean my air ve chimney, and dryer vent for $79. "The technician" arrived, claimed there was black mold in my home, and quoted $2,400 for remediation. I couldn't afford that, so he offered a $2,000 deal if I paid cash. Trusting Groupon's vetting process, I paid the amount. After spraying something in my home, he promised to return in two weeks, but after a couple of reschedules... I've heard nothing since. Groupon is basically is selling my information to companies or in this case people, without a vetting process? Do they even verify if they are an actual business? I requested that Groupon take responsibility to cover for their role in sending criminals to my home. (other than the petty refund of a service that I obviously not recieved ) I actually have stepped out of my home to get the cash, leaving my wife and daughter in the house with this criminal. What would had happen if instead of a scammer this person was a killer? Groupon.com appears to believe that it is the consumer's responsibility to exercise caution and conduct due diligence when engaging with vendors. While I can understand this stance in cases where vendors provide services that may be priced higher than others or in situations involving service disagreements or errors, the situation I am facing involves individuals engaging in criminal behavior with Groupon's help. Groupon keeps telling and I quote " By way of background,  Groupon is a marketing platform that allows merchants to run advertisements for their own goods and services.  All merchants are the official issuers of their Groupon vouchers purchased by customers and merchants are responsible for the goods and services they sell and render to the customers".
