    CHARBROILED CATFISH

Tried the Black Jack oysters, which were good. I also had the soup and salad with the crab and brie soup, and that was very tasty. The charbroiled catfish platter was good as well. The customer service was attentive throughout the visit.

The food was delicious. I had the crab and Brie chowder and it was yummy! The fried stuff shrimp could have done with less stuffing and more shrimp though. The service was impeccable. Prompt, my sweet tea glass was never empty!!! Every wish got answered! And the place was lovely with its own creek and goat petting/ feeding place and beautiful roosters! The whole experience was memorable!! We will be back!!!

Understood to be a Louisiana staple with the locals. Enjoyed dinner with family while visiting. I ordered the Stuffed shrimp platter w/ Caesar salad, hush puppies and red beans. Everything was really good and tasted fresh. Loved the Caesar salad! Fried foods were crispy, stuffing in shrimp was flavorful. I Would gladly reorder this meal. I also tried the Crawfish fries that were ordered at the table. Soooo good- with crawfish multiple ways! Look forward to returning.

We are from Texas but our friend from New Orleans took us here and we were not disappointed! Everything we had was great. The blackened salmon was cooked to perfection. The seafood lasagna was to die for. The etoufee was good as well. My husband loved his drink he had the sweet heat margarita (we think that's the name). When we visit again, this place will be on our radar. Oh and there is a cool little walking path after you're full to the gills.

Chimes is a cool place to hang out with or without kids. The staff is friendly and very much "on it." The bar area is a great section to watch the latest sports or just have drinks with friends. As for food, there is something for everyone. The crab and brie soup is my favorite, along with the crawfish mac and cheese. I've had many menu items and nothing has disappointed.

We dined at The Chimes in Covington in early October 2025 to catch the Saints game, and this spot did not disappoint. There are TVs all throughout the restaurant, making it an ideal place to watch the game. The crowd was electric -- full of Saints fans who erupted with cheers every time the team scored. The lively atmosphere alone made it a great experience. As for the food, everything we ordered was excellent: * Seafood Gumbo (Large) - $11.00 -- rich, flavorful, and loaded with seafood. * Macaroni & Cheese - $4.75 -- creamy, cheesy, and delicious. * Jambalaya (Side) - $4.75 -- good flavor overall; I'd rate it a solid 7/10. * Large Brunch Bloody Mary - $8.50 -- very tasty and a generous pour for the price, part of their brunch special. Our subtotal was $29.00, with tax of $2.68, for a total of $31.68 -- a very fair price for two people, especially given the quality and portions. Our server, Emma K., provided great service -- friendly, attentive, and on top of everything even with how busy it was during the game. All in all, The Chimes delivered an excellent food and game-day experience. We'll definitely be back -- next time to try a few more dishes and cheer on the Saints again!

As always, lunch was great today at The Chimes in Covington. My wife and I met family for a birthday get together and enjoyed a variety of favorites, including grilled salmon and veggies, salads and burgers. Service was excellent and the ambiance was warm and friendly, in the best Covington style.

Deeelicious! And great views! Everyone is so nice. The crabmeat stuffed mushrooms and spinach and artichoke dip are delicious!

Supposed to be the charbroiled oysters. So horrible.

Got the charbroiled oysters. Never have I got oysters that looked as bad as they tasted.

It was perfect for what I wanted. The apps were all good we got four and split them. Perfect local place, large selection of beer and cute little outdoor area.

Great Boudin! Also the spinach artichoke dip. The Tabasco pepper jelly vinegarette is also worth trying.

It wasn't crowded at all, but this *was* the night before Thanksgiving, so that made sense. That said, there was a decent group of regulars that seemed to love the place. And we can see why. As the other reviewer mentioned, this bar caters to an older crowd (baby boomers with a sprinkling of Gen X), which isn't to say that younger people wouldn't be welcomed ... but the shenanigans that sometimes comes with being younger would be out of place here. Don, Jared and the Konspiracy was the band last night, and they did a fine job of playing classic rock standards that kept the dance floor busy. The food at the back (jambalaya) was a really nice touch, and the bartender did a wonderful job of keeping everyone topped up with good cheer. We're glad to have discovered this locals hangout and we'll definitely be back.

My favorite "hole in the wall"…read more I'm someone who loves good music and good people. Both can always be found at backstreet! As a former bartender, I am not a fan of college crowd bars or bars where the owner is wasted and causing drama. Im not a fan of drama, period. I like an older crowd that you can have fun with, drink with, dance with, etc. The owner is awesome, as are the regulars. When the dancing gets going, they salt the floor! Cap'n & Gayle do karaoke on Friday nights and it's the absolute best in town!!! if you're into karaoke you have to check it out! Not to mention, Friday nights, band nights, game nights and special events they have food cooked. I know you're thinking "yea, ok bar food". No. I'm talking home-cooked crock-pot food. I will bet that the chicken & dumplings are the best 99.9% of people that try them have EVER had. For LSU football they've got a projector screen and the game going on loud. Commercial breaks they put on 98.1 or the fight song, etc. Definitely my favorite place to watch the game. Long review but there's so much greatness about this place I know I'm forgetting to mention a million things. Bartenders are wonderful (especially Leslie!) bands are great, karaoke is great, drinks are great! Food is phenomenal as are the people you'll meet!
