Yesterday they sent in an amazing and thoughtful technician who showed up exactly when he said, even apologizing that he was late. I was given the hours of 3-5, he was here by 3:05! That was already a plus since I was really hoping he didn't show up at 5 to start. He was kind and thoughtful. He even went to home depot to get me new filters since I was out, leaving 2 extras with me, stressing to change every 3 months because of my pets. I appreciated the amount of time he spent on my unit making sure everything was okay with it, yet not dragging out the appointment. They don't make companies like they used to. In recent years people could care less if you're happy. Well, Id like to think San Jose Air Conditioning is old school in how they operate. They were wonderful to us, worked overtime, charged reasonably and when they didn't have the part needed, the made one so that the kids and I could have cool air during this crazy heat wave. When his team came they were very professional and worked quickly under the house and in the attic. The new unit in the garage together with the AC unit out back are super quiet in comparison. Overall, night and day difference in cooling. No more sweating inside or paying for AC to be on all day while not providing much cooling. I've heard nothing since. I've contacted Becks 5 times now and they ignore me. It's always they will call, same with voicemail attempts. As far as they know the furnace is still not working, guess they don't care. They have sure left me hanging. I can not recommend Becks even though they found an obscure problem. They don't care.

They even added a 2nd thermostat so that we could control the temperature on the second floor independently. They've also been really great about following up on issues. I noticed the heat stopped running this morning and they showed up right away and already fixed it (bad capacitor). Really great service!

My disastrous experience with Golden Gate Mechanical started on when they sent me an invoice (by…read moreemail) out of the blue relating to a condo that I owned in Palo Alto. Upon further investigation, it turns out that the HOA had called them out months earlier regarding roof leaks. GGM had some bizarre theory that maybe the roof AC condenser for my unit was at fault, so they turned the condenser switch off on the roof, turned the thermostat to off in my unit (the HOA let them in), and removed the batteries from my thermostat. Of course my AC unit wasn't the problem and the leaks continued all over the building until they were properly fixed by roofers. Nevertheless, GGM sent me a $212 invoice, months later, for their "service" of wrongfully disabling my HVAC system, which I had to restore and reprogram later. Then things got worse. I replied to the unexpected invoice (CC'ing the HOA) saying that the HOA called GGM out and the HOA is responsible for roof leaks in the building, so the HOA should pay this. Nobody responded and more than a month passed and I assumed it was resolved. But then I later tried to sell my condo and GGM sent a bogus payment demand to the escrow agent. If they still wanted payment from me for the shoddy work that I didn't want or ask for, it's strange that they would contact escrow rather than contacting me first. I instructed escrow to ignore the bogus payment demand, but I decided to pay the $212 myself anyway, since my (former) HOA was partially at fault for calling them out and not paying them. I'm giving GGM a poor rating both for the incompetent "fix" which actually made things worse, and for sending a bogus payment demand to the escrow company rather than just telling me that they hadn't been paid. I'm glad that I won't ever have to deal with them again.

He knew exactly what to do when faced with the dilemma of how a Nest thermostat was different from an Aqara thermostat. Would highly recommend him for any HVAC work you need. I used to have another company do annual maintenance for me, and they've been pretty good, but I'm planning on switching over to Duy and AirPro HVAC since I feel like he is far more trustworthy and just an overall great guy.

We live in an old house ... built in 1920 to be exact. As such, our attic space (where our original…read moregas furnace was installed) is tight and proved challenging. As a smart shopper with this home uprgrade being such a huge investment, I collected four quotes for replacing our HVAC system. This included a couple big names advertised on my social media feeds: Irbis and Fuse Services, as well as SVCE (Silicone Valley Clean Energy whole home upgrade program), and IndaSpec (for a sexy looking system called Quilt). Each of these companies came to our home to provide an estimate. We picked one of these companies and experienced a bit of a "bait and switch" situation after the project manager came out and claimed they could not install a legitimate permitted ducted HVAC system and we needed to go ductless. This was not an acceptable situation for us and I turned to my neighbor for advice (lucky for us, he's a contractor). He referred us to JJ and Amir from Cen-Cal Heating & Air Conditioning. At this point, I was tired from the many days spent researching and going down so many rabbit holes. I just wanted to be done with this project. In the first 15 minutes of speaking with JJ, I learned more about our specific setup in our attic and felt relief that I finally met someone that had the confidence, honesty, and knowledge to help us (without punching more holes in our walls for ductless HVAC air handlers in every room). Within a week, JJ provided detailed specs on the Mitsubishi heat-pump HVAC system we wanted and within another week, the brothers (JJ and Amir) showed up to install our new system. They completed a majority of the job in two days and returned the next week with a couple cosmetic finishes necessary to fully complete the project. We wanted our HVAC system to be permitted, so they referred us to a very good third-party HERS testing company and met with the County inspector during the final inspection visit to answer any questions. We passed the inspection the first go-around! From start to finish, our HVAC replacement project was completed in one month (and within this quick time frame we were out of town for a week so we probably could've been done within three weeks). JJ and Amir are extremely responsive and attentive to their customers. They never once complained or reacted negatively when I asked about fixing things to my liking. They understood I was extremely detail-oriented and cared about aesthetics. They cared too! Imagine technicians that install your HVAC system as they would in their own home and care not only about how it functions but how it looks installed both inside and outside your home. On top of this, we had an issue with our dryer vent blowing into the outside condenser and JJ came up with a customized solution so the hot air was re-routed out of the way of the intake. We've had to pay a lot of companies money to do our recent electric upgrades (i.e. solar panel, batteries, heat pump water heater) but this was the ONLY company and people I felt good about handing over my hard-earned money. JJ and Amir made a customer for life and if any of my friends ask me for an HVAC referral, I would whole-heartedly recommend them! Thank you guys for providing such excellent customer service, communication, and follow-thru in completing our HVAC replacement project. You get what you pay for these days and while Cen-Cal wasn't the cheapest overall quote, I had a very smooth installation experience and have faith that they will continue to service the equipment should we run into any problems in the future. I really appreciated their jovial demeanor and willingness to go the extra mile to make me happy!
