Did you know that there are no physical stores in Manhattan that have a decent selection of boys suits? Well, now you do. I'm a single mom of two boys, ages 11 and 13. Buying their first suit is a big milestone - often a father/ son moment. That just wasn't in the cards for us, but working with Barry at Lubin's was the next best thing. He was patient, had a great sense of humor, connected with my boys, knew what he was doing, and was nonplussed that I was there 10 days before my son's bar mitzvah looking for a suit. He spent almost 2 hours with us, way past closing time, and even took the time to teach my boys how to tie a tie. 5 days later, we came back to pick up the tailored suits and pressed shirts. We agreed that he could keep the money from OUAC. I called the store this morning and asked specifically if there were ANY RESTRICTIONS on buying today because we live 40 miles away and its about an hour drive each way. I was told that the only restriction was that they stop buying at 5pm. It was 11am and we were on our way. We waited almost 2-hours for his $27. Only when we returned did they share that they were only able to review 2-bags, which was their limit on busy days. I expressed concern that I had called specifically asking about restrictions and was told that there weren't any. The "Manager" came over, shared that she took my call and while we did discuss restrictions, I did not share that we had 3-bags. I tried to explain what the word "restriction" means, to no avail. I implored her to review the other bag, most of which were unworn clothes with tags. I also pointed to many other people who had HUGE bins, much larger than our 3-grocery bags. She said I could return tomorrow. I explained that todays trip was a one hour, each way, and nearly a 2hr wait. I have a full time job and we won't have another 4-hours tomorrow. She walked away. I am so sorry for my awful experience today and even more sorry for my little guy who worked SO VERY HARD yesterday getting all of that stuff together. I did this for him and unfortunately, OUAC in Scarsdale ruined it. Save yourselves. Go to OUAC in Danbury. We will never return to OUAC Scarsdale.
