My starter had lovely ripe fig with soft goats cheese, and the main (Assiette de France) was a pot of olives in fresh herbs and oil, a tomato pickle, a mini baked Camembert, two pairs of frogs legs, two fish cakes and some leaves serve on a slate. The house red wine is Fleur de Lys and the service is polite and connected. What's not to love. Next time I'm here, this is my destination of choice! I went for the seared halibut steak, with samphire and a subtly flavoured white wine sauce; the best piece of halibut I've had since I was in Alaska, high praise indeed! My wife had the grey mullet with samphire in a lemon sauce, again a great dish, just a little heavy on the lemon. We also had a couple a sides that complimented both dishes perfectly, double fried chips and a dressed salad. The choice of desserts on the prix menu was limited to only two, a plum tart and fresh strawberries, meringue and cream, the latter being the dish we both went for. Served in a precipitous cocktail glass, it was the perfect dessert, flavourful and not too large. Rounded off with a decent cup of coffee, this was a great choice of restaurant for our last night in Ludlow.

We dined on the first floor which had a special French ambience. There were some beautiful paintings on the wall, which made me feel like we were dining at museum. Oh the food was AMAZING! I was delighted with every bite! Especially the starter of scallops and king prawn was beautifully cooked. The combination of seafood and pie was absolutely delightful. We not excited by our dinner choices, but I went on Yelp and discovered L'Artisan had an excellent review and was nearby. We were very much delighted with the excellent service and great food. The young waitress who served us, although wearing a badge announcing she was a "trainee", was the best service person we have had since arriving in the U.K. two weeks ago. The owner/hostess welcomed us warmly and was a very gracious host throughout our meal. L'Artisan exceeded our every expectation.

The Tuesday meal deal wine is not great. It's cheap plonk which gets you buzzed but it's not great with the meal. I would actually suggest ordering a bottle of proper wine and then start on the cheap stuff. You can apparen,to bring the leftover bottle home!! The restaurant has great decor ambiance and is lively.
