It is with great sadness that I report the demise of Sunday Lunch at The
Checkers, a great institution, but sadly no longer, we went on the last
day in early February and once again enjoyed a meal of great quality
and value. Stéphane is an incredibly talented chef, his soufflés are
truly amazing, his menu is always so interesting that you want to eat
everything on it. Their wines are sensibly priced, for instance the New
Zealand Mud House Sauvignon Blanc at £23 (how refreshing as many French
led restaurants have an all French wine list), and the service led by
Kathryn is friendly and efficient; no wonder that the place is such a
huge success and wins plaudits all round. read more
