We visited Zacs Balti in Wem on New Years Eve. We had to wait for a table to be cleaned and then when we sat down had to wait for a menu. we ordered popadoms, which arrived fairly quickly and were very nice.. but then. We noticed a nearby table who had been there longer than us were waiting for their main course too, we found out that they had been waiting 3 hours for their food. We waited..and waited I went to the bar and asked for another drink and was told that our main would be 5 minutes. I went back to the table and waited, and waited, and waited. the people at a nearby table decided to leave, they had been waiting for their food and had had enough, they explained to the manager that they were disgusted, he charged them for their starter and drinks, and they left we waited. I was fed up, and very hungry, so I went and said that I was leaving as I wasn`t happy and was told that our food was ready and waiting in the kitchen (he seemed oblivious to the fact that we had been waiting so long). we said that if it didn`t come now we would go. Two currys arrived at the table, no rice, no chips, no naan. We were so hungry we started eating the curry, a waiter came over and asked if everything was Ok with our mealwe said that we hadn`t actually got most of our mealsome rice arrivedit wasn`t the rice we had orderedit actually belonged to the people who had been waiting 3 hours. i asked them if they had by any chance got our chips, or rice. Then our rice arrived. We asked where our chips were, a little later the chips arrived, but by then we had eaten most of our curry as we were so hungry. then our naan bread arrived. i was so fed up by now and to make matters even worse the chef came out and started laughing and joking with some people on another table. The waiter apologised for everything and explained that he had also been doing deliveries. he was shocked that everyone had been waiting so long.. I, along with 14 other people, recently visited Zak's Balti. It was chosen due to the affordability and the fact that it had enough room to accommodate everyone at one table. We should have known betterthe fact that only one other table was occupied despite the large floor area on a Saturday should have sent warning signals! Our order was taken relatively promptly. However it then took 40 minutes for the popadoms to be provided. Having finished our starter, we then waited an hour for the main courses. By this time people are getting irritable as we are now the only people in the restaurant and we have already asked the helpful (yet clueless) waiters how much longer. Eventually some of the mains arrive. We then wait ages for rice. Then a little longer for more mains. Cold mains get sent back. Wrong mains get sent back (After the waiter tried arguing that she had ordered what had been brought). Naans start to arrive. Finally the rest of the rices arrive just as people are finishing. The actual food was ok. A few people said theirs was lovely, most said ok. In fact the general consensus was that they were so hungry that they would have eaten anything! Then it was time to order the Bill and as the waiters were clearly avoiding our table (despite us now being the only party) this took a predictably long time. As a pacifier the popadoms were complimentary, but this does not make up for the bland food and appalling service. Since this visit we have found other dissatisfied customers, one story of waiting an hour for food and then walking outthe waiters didn't even argue that they hadn't paid for their drinks! read more

Me and my partner have been going to Zak's Balti since it opened and every time we have it has been consistantly excellent all round. I have never before been a real big fan of curry but that soon changed when my partner convinced me to try out Zak's Balti. I am now officially hooked. I can say without a doubt that it is the only place I will go in Wem now to eat-in or take away after. I can say without a doubt that Zak's Balti is the best in Wem after trying out the competition (In my eyes you cant even call them competition as the food at Zak's is unbeatable!). As soon as you walk in the welcome is warm and friendly and the staff are very quick to adapt to your personnal needs. We have always been seated in no time with drinks on the way. Straight away! The food has arrived qucikly and beautifully presented. I am allergic to lemon and the chef was brilliant makng sure there was not even a drop any where near my food. He even came out once we had completed our meal before we went, just to make sure everything was okay and to introduce himself. The staff are all polite and we had such a laugh with them that we often end up staying 2 hours after our meal just talking and having banter like old friends. Even when were walking the dog or nipping to the shop out of restaurant hours, if we see one of the staff they will stop, say hi and have a chat. All in all very proffessionaly run, very friendly, very welcoming and very very delicious!! read more

I first visited Zak's a few months back, shortly after they took over from the previous owners. Having eaten at many other Balti's in the past, I had very high standards for Indian food, however I can safely say I was blown away by the quality of Zak's Balti. My first order was a takeaway which I ordered over the phone. The very helpful man who took the phone call offered to deliver the order straight to my door, however as I was planning on calling at the co-op (which is conveniently located the other side of the car park) anyway, I decided to pick the order up myself. I was told the food would be ready in around 25 minutes and unlike most takeaway restaurants the quoted time was spot on. Since my first experience of Zak's Balti I have returned many times, both for takeaways and to eat in. My experiences of eating in have been just as good as my experience of takeaways. The staff are very helpful and the time between ordering and receiving food is always minimal, even in large groups. The atmosphere is always great and the fact that the restaurant is situated next to a large car park is also very helpful when eating in. Overall I am very satisfied with every aspect of Zak's Balti; the restaurant is in a great location, the staff are extremely helpful, the waiting times are always short and the food is second to none. After trying out many different Indian restaurants, I can without doubt say Zak's Balti is no fake. read more

I have being going to Zaks Balti for a few moths now getting take-aways, and having the occasional meal in, but last night (13/10/11) I took a large party of 41 people in. The food was excellent, every meal was ready at the same time, and all meals had very good consistency, it was certainly well above satisfactory and raised the bar of my expectations from a restaurant. The fact that now the restaurant is fully licensed certainly helped the night progress, and the atmosphere within the restaurant was fantastic. All of the waiters were polite and hard working, but they had a bit of banter with us and generally looked after us for the many hours some of us were there for, pleasing many people, and even the chef came out after everybody had received their meal just to check if everything was alright and show his face, which many of the people i was with found very professional and friendly. i will definitely be booking a christmas party here! read more

Having previously visited this restaurant under it's two previous owners and been delighted I was very disappointed with my debut visit to Zak's Balti a few days ago. The welcome was warm and friendly, but it went downhill from there!!! Despite our party being the only customers in the place service was very poor. Drinks took an age to arrive, and when they did one was missing, and after taking our order an amazing wait of 35 minutes before any of the food arrived!!!! When the waiter started to serve, instead of a trolley with all the food on, he need 6 journeys to and from the kitchen to deliver our meal, constantly leaning over people who were already trying to eat. Food was enjoyable but not enough to warrant a return visit. read more
